Biden cannot, that is also true. Before COVID hit, Trump's America was doing very well.
No, it was definitely not:
- The massive debt and spend frenzy that Trump introduced before COVID is yours to eventually pay. He introduced the necessity to raise taxes on those who did not receive permanent cuts. Keep in mind that he significantly increased debt without having to deal with a recession, without introducing new wars, and without introducing any great program to improve America. He was handed a good economy and commenced to plant the seeds for a future disaster by introducing mechanisms that shoved money away from the average American tax payer. That would be you. Having no money to deal with COVID this year is just the beginning. Because of his spend frenzy the Treasury has had to issue ever more bonds to foreign governments like China. Odd, considering that this President has also built a platform on calling out China as an enemy while creating a never-ending trade war crusade that sees American farmers in constant economic need.
- America has lost tremendous influential power in the Middle East and in the Pacific due to Trump's off-the-cuff decisions that contradicted even his own 2017 National Security Strategy. He began by backing out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), which was a billion dollar deal (included Mexico) that closed the door on China's geoeconomic foreign policy efforts. He replaced it with a million dollar deal with Japan, and left the Pacific nations, to include Australia, to have to make their own weaker deal to fend off China. After this, Trump then went on to back out of the Iran deal, which gave us a decade to work on Iran's foreign policy. We no longer have that time because Trump replaced it with brutal sanctions that shoved Iran closer to China's orbit. When we couple this with the fact that Trump's betrayal of the Kurds resulted in handing over the Syrian territory to Russian, Turkish, and Iranian influence, we have to accept that we have surrendered the upper hand in virtually that entire region. It was bad enough that Obama and Biden had surrendered Iraq to Iran and failed to seize opportunity over the Arab Spring. And back to China where his never-ending trade-war crusade has left China laughing, North Korea laughing, and our Pacific allies worried.
- Because of his back peddling on deals and shattering them, America is less trusted in the world today than it has ever been. Aside from the Pacific and the Middle East, our own democratic allies in Europe have no faith in us. Many of their leaders have already surrendered to the idea that America has chosen to no longer lead, leaving them to consider China's rise as the next power to cozy up to for stability against Russia. This began when Trump immediately tabled the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) in 2016 for an entire year, which opened the door for Russia's foreign policy to play pipeline diplomacy across even Western Europe. Because of their energy needs and the absence of America, Russia gained influence with these countries who rely on America to keep the energy turned on. This goes hand-in-hand with Middle Eastern oil, in which we handed over to Russia and China (Iraq, Iran, Syria).
So, when I declare things like "Trump is a foreign asset," I mean exactly that. America has been set up for hardship so that a plutocrat could sell off bits and pieces of her to foreign interests. His ignorance, stupidity, and malicious intent to improve his own personal finances beyond the Presidency placed American interests on a shelf. This is some of why George W. Bush and Retired/Active military Generals have decided that they will not support him in November. He has weakened America on every level, reduced the Office to substandard levels, and has even tried to commit treason for personal reasons.
America was not doing very well prior to COVID. And COVID merely gave Republicans everywhere their excuse to jump ship. The man's even got McConnell pushing back on him now because he floated the idea that he might want to postpone his November defeat. Even they, who excused his treason, want him gone.
