Also true, but I don't know what that has to do with the employer knowing you are a Christian and therefore knowing to ask certain questions before hiring you. If the employees says he/she would be okay with that and then later finds out he/she isn't, the employee won't have any grounds for claiming a hostile work environment forcing him/her to leave. Human Resources have to consider all angles these days.

I wonder if thats more common in certain areas than others. Ive done some hiring (25+ people) and interviewing (100+) over my career and Ive actually never had anybody tell me randomly they are christian. If they did, again I wouldn't think much of it because I am too. The things you state to ask IMO would be their responsibility to know or ask. Now mind you if I was looking for somethign VERY specific, like work every sunday or something of that nature that wasn't obvious in the job description I would of course ask. Otherwise that person should be fully aware of working hours or schedules and ask (if its outside of normal expectations)

Now also with that said all my experience has been in manufacturing, engineering and production. So my mind set is of that nature . . language is rougher than a company that has nothign but cube farms I imagine so I would never think to ask and sunday work can happen but typically has always been voluntary OT or rotational. If it was rotational or the possibility of mandatory it was simply always presented no matter the person.

As far as the bunch bowl being spike lol thats always been controlled strictly by HR or the the biggest Boss where i have worked and again since it would be voluntary i would never think to ask if a person cared. They are free not to participate.

2.) I agree and I often do play it by ear but the things you suggest i have never thought of. But again, its probably because I have never had anybody tell me they are christian. Nor have I done hiring without a proper informative job description or talks about job requirements/expectations where any of that would be a surprise. I think thats the most important and through thing. Ive never felt motivated to give any of it special attention based on religion.

And to be honest when it does seem like somethign needs special attention that usually means its NOT a good fit.

Lastly have you ever had somebody announce they are christian?

Im thinking due to my location, jobs i hire for (engineers, IT and techs) I wont come accross this much if at all. Anyway . . thats still interesting, thanks again!
