[W:80] Trump encourages Israel, our ‘ally’, to block US lawmakers from travel

LOL. Like an opinion from a English "subject" is worth considering. You pay homage to somebody's family, of all things. Stay out of this.

This is unbelievable.

Israel just refused to allow two US Congresswomen into the country after Trump urged Israel to ban them from entering.

And Israel just did it.

Israel blocks Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib from entering country – live | US news | The Guardian

Two amazing things here...

1) Has a US President ever appealed to another country to block travel of a Congressperson?

2) has a purported ‘ally’ EVER blocked a US lawmaker from travel to their country because of their free exercise of speech?

Well said. He has a good head start for meeting his daily quota of lies. The lying piece of **** is just flat out evil...

Is it not a tiny nation? Perhaps "small"?

Or perhaps you'd like to share your view of the quality of its people in general?

Bad form, Mr Person. We are not supposed to call out antisemitism on our own sides. You are not being a team player.

They are a sovereign country and do not have to allow anyone in who they believe endangers their national security or believe will foment further trouble that can lead to violence. Why is it so important to you that Tlaib and Omar who both hate our nation's ally Israel and foment antisemitic conspiracy theories against it be let in?

Why is it considered hatred to openly criticize the right wing agenda and the apartheid regime in israel?

Your use of antisemite as a smear is disparaging the word and diminishing the meaning.

"Apartheid regime"? Which Israeli citizens are treated to a different set of laws which hold them in a state of permanent second class citizenship status?

Your use of antisemite as a smear is disparaging the word and diminishing the meaning.

And I said that Omar furthers antisemitic conspiracy theories because she foments antisemitic conspiracy theories. It is her intimation that the only reason people in congress support Israel is because they are not fully loyal to the United States OR they have been bribed by Jewish organizations to support Israel.

Let's see, Tlaib and Omar supports boycotting Israel, even voting against the condemnation resolution of the BDS movement and Israel in turn boycotts Tlaib and Omar.

Seems fair.

Re: Trump encourages Israel, our ‘ally’, to block US lawmakers from travel

Just to say it another way, this whole dust up is Trump throwing up a bunch of dust and crap in front of a fan to distract us from his failings.

About the oldest rule in the book is "Under-promise and over-perform". Trump has always had it backwards. He took far flung gambles in his airline, destroying a viable business in the process and in his USFL effort where he not only took down his own team but an entire league gambling that he could parley the Jersey Generals into an NFL franchise which of course failed famously. The NFL laughed him out of the room. Did the same with his casino businesses and blew that business up nearly going personally bankrupt in the process until daddy bailed him out.

His big gamble this time is the tariff war where he has isolated himself from allies that could have helped him and has gambled so much on it that his trade representative is stuck shunning comments from X that China "might meet the US halfway". No says the US, its all or nothing.

Well of course its all or nothing at this point. We have subsidized farmers to the tune of $28B just relating to the tariff war and that is still a drop in the bucket compared to what they are losing. Want to guess how pliable X will be on an "all or nothing" deal? Worse, our engagement with China over agro products was not based on the involvement of the US Government at virtually any level. US agro industry entities footed that bill all on their own and now they have had the knees knocked out from under them by you guessed it....DonDon.

His other big gamble and maybe even a bigger gamble than the tariff war, a corp tax break at the start of his first term coupled with an effort to kill the ACA. Usually Presidents will save a big tax cut for the period going into their second term election or their second term. Gotta' leave a reason for those characters to vote for you. His ACA effort has left himself and his party in the uncomfortable position of no-mans land on Healthcare policy, bouncing back and forth even on as critical an issue as pre-existing conditions. Nicely done DonDon.

If Donald really had any earthly idea what he was doing he would have gone hell bent for leather after an Infrastructure revitalization plan in his first term which would have addressed what is now our utterly laughable infrastructure creating long term productivity gains and jobs jobs job, real jobs, instead of some poor bastard's second or third part time job with no benefits.

So Trump has failed miserably in virtually every area as his Sugar High economy winds down. Deregulation is the only highlight in a sea of failure in both domestic and foreign policy and the way DonDon has handled Deregulation is shaky at best.

So he gets his buddy Netanyahu who has his own problems to help him create this dust up to cover his fat Pillsbury doughboy butt for this 24 hour news cycle. He will have another one tomorrow and another the day after tomorrow. That is how DonDon views his executive responsibilities.....a 24/7 effort to secure more personal wealth and power, gaslight the American public if not the entire world and keep his carnival shell game going as long as he can.

Yup.

But we need moar than a mere three threads on this nothing "Trump is Hitler because sovereign nation barred some people!!!" hysterical nonsense.

I don't give a **** what you think pal. Your ignorance of Britain is obvious. I'll 'stay out of this', just as soon as America quits poking its snout where it isn't wanted.

Well Israel has decided to allow Tlaib to visit her family on a humanitarian visit. Because apparently in Israel, it requires special permission on humanitarian grounds to visit family in the occupied areas. Doesn't that just reek of freedom and democracy?

No such thing as an English subject. The British are citizens and have been for the best part of a thousand years.

Certainly a damn sight better ally than the United Kingdom.

When did Israeli troops ever fight by your side? Instead they prefer to murder US servicemen, spy on you (Jonathan Pollard), and sell your military secrets to China. What a trustworthy 'ally'.

They don't teach much history in US schools if that poster's ignorance is any evidence. Britain has been a constitutional monarchy since 1689, following the English Revolution and the introduction of our Bill of Rights (subsequently adopted almost verbatim by the US). They both came about as a result of revolutions against the monarchy. The Queen today answers to Parliament; the representatives of the people. Her role is purely ceremonial and she has no executive powers whatsoever.

Are Omar and Tlaib allies of Israel? Do they represent America as a whole? They are not ambassadors. They are constituent members of the lower house of our Legislature. They represent no one but themselves and their constituents in their home districts.
100% wrong. As members of the United States Congress, Tlaib and Omar are ambassadors of our country. Arguing otherwise is ridiculous.

[*W:193*] Israel considers banning entry to outspoken US congresswomen

The House should investigate every penny of the Aid Budget to Israel... and look at the areas of funds we give them and put a hold on non essential funds and make them submit a full accounting of what they spend American funds upon, and use an American House Designated Forensic Accountant to Check and Verify any information related to expenditure for the past 20 yrs. , then we can get them off this Right Wing Madness, Territorial Encroachments and pandering to Trump's Ignorance,by meddling in how our Congress function.

I think Israel has a right to exist... but I absolutely DO NOT support their "continued encroachments", and I do not like their Apartheid attitude toward the people of that region !!!!

MINIMIZE the AMOUNT OF U.S. Money Flow to Israel, and they will oust this Right Wing Nut themselves!!!!... and put in a person who respect diplomacy in the region and they will find a way to make peace and stop the encroachments.

If they stop spending their money "encroaching" they can fund their own Military needs... they encroach because we pay for them to do so. that's why the U.S. won't demand Peace in the Area because Right Wingers Love the idea of Israel encroaching upon and against the people of the region.

Israel continues to elect these "Right Wing Bigots" who continue to think they can use the U.S. as their backer to continue their encroachments and Apartheid attitude and acts against the people of the region. yet, they are themselves engaged in mass long running discrimination's!!!

America should be asking the question of just how many $million's of the many $Billion that America send to make various people in Israel wealthy... and then ask how much of the $million they use from the same $billions we give them to influence and manipulate American Politics. They are taking our own money and using it to manipulate American politics for their own agenda, both in America and to promote some guilt trip on America if it does not submit to their demands.
We can't continue to be played for "suckers" as if we are too blind and unaware to ever wake up

I try to be optimistic!
Going on 3 years of Bizarro Trump America, I’m still optimistic that our country will recover once he’s voted out of office, but I can’t say the same for those who stand with Trump ever recognizing their own complicity in the attempted degradation of our core values.

It's going to be a long recovery I fear; especially given the hostility and mistrust he has sowed among America's traditional allies. Respect is easy to lose, and infinitely difficult to rebuild.
Someone once said, 'I'm not disappointed that you lied, I'm disappointed that I can never trust you again'.

For a British citizen, you really have a strange unhealthy fixation on US-Israeli relations seeing the huge percentage of your posts here that are on that subject.
(Followed by the usual conspiracy theories, support for terrorism and antisemitic nonsense)

What Trump has done will take "decades" to bring some repair to... The world moves on and America will not regain the same level of high esteem it once had before this madness.. Bush damaged a great deal with his War In Iraq and how he misled nations, and then the economic crash that damaged many nations, President Obama did great work to mend much and restore diplomacy.... Trump has damaged diplomacy to such a tragic degree, that the world is now looking at itself very different, and in that look.. they are not looking at America as the "outstanding leader", they now see their own values they need to follow.

It won't be long before another currency is to be elevated in the "reserve currency basket" to take some of the shares that America has and find commodities they can trade using another reserve currency... This will be 100% Trump to blame for the accelerated steps in such.

The world was willing to keep America atop, even when it knows we no longer have the dominant industrial capacity and we don't have the supply chain in America and we have massive debt.

We have under Trump destroyed the capability to build "cooperative agreements" in the ways the rest of the world is engaged in. The Trade Wars has cost nations and many sectors of America much damages, and nation will find their a way to recover without reliance on America. The ongoing escalation of racism is telling the world that it can no longer truth anything that right wing and conservative put forth. Many nations see it for exactly what it is... the last ditch effort to try and recreate white nationalism... as other countries fight against it, the world is moving in a direction that will never allow the damages again that white nationalism has caused on a global scale of the past. It has led to war and destruction of countries, destabilized regions... and no more will the world tolerate the aims of Imperialist Agenda of white nationalist ideology. They see it has led to nothing but "inequity among citizens' in every place that it once dominated. It has wreaked havoc in nations across the globe. Playing one side against the other and feeding weapons into regions to intensify the conflicts that are created by the game of playing sides against each other.

The Age of Information... is continuing to expose it everyday. The exposure will speed up, because as technology improves, information will even more readily available to the masses in volumes that was never before possible to reach the masses. The long history of lies, misinformation, misdirection and every game that was played to hide the truth .... will continue to be exposed...
