Real news, Fake picture....

So the children were voluntarily given to the state by their parents? That is not what I read. As such they were taken, you can play word games all you want, the children were taken and during that time most likely crying

Misrepresentation again? I did not say above.

I said "Children are being safeguarded by statute and by Law enforcement Policy. The reason why the children have to be separated and safeguarded is that the Adult, Guardian or Parent, intentionally broke the law."

JEEZUS you cannot even read what I typed word for word you have to misrepresent it in its entirety, THIS is exactly why we are where we are..... Cant even be truthful when the truth is right there.

The difference is that I did not do so claiming that it represented anything wrong, criminal or evil. It is simply a picture of an apparently unhappy child.

That looks like my daughter when I dont allow her to eat chocolate or tell her its bed time, or when I say you have 5 more minutes on the Ipad, WHAT an Atrocity I am for making my child cry and taking away the Tablet..... I need to be impeached....

But the story is that the policy has changed to make things deliberately unpleasant for families.

The photo showed that brilliantly.

No one knew what became of the child until now, so there was no ‘lie’ or even misrepresentation. Given the lack of transparency, I don’t think any officials would be giving information even if they knew what happened.

I wonder who in this thread is upset that they were kept together? Seems like more than a few...

Fine, but using a picture that has nothing to do with child separation in a story about child separation is dishonest. It is much the same as using a roadkill picture in a story about DDT or GMO poisoning. Why not run such stories about parent's DUI arrests when children are present in the vehicle?

They committed misdemeanors.

Jared Kushner committee multiple felonies by lying on his security clearance forms multiple times.

Where’s your outrage at the flaunting of the rule of law?

That is OK we all know that kids get upset when told no about a variety of things. However, if the same reaction occurred when you were being arrested for DUI it would become the fault of the evil, Nazi inspired, police state.

It’s not dishonest at all.

No one could possibly know the disposition of this specific child, and the stories were about more than just separation- it was about inhumane treatment at the border- families turned away from claiming asylum before getting to the US, etc.

A roadkill photo for DDT poisoning would be misleading. But a dead animal in a field that MIGHT LIKELY have been killed by DDT is totally reasonable- and I bet you wouldn’t be crying that there wasn’t a full tox screen done.

What, exactly, was the inhumane treatment associated with that particular photo? I have seen several TV news clips that included interviews with ICE and/or border patrol agents (both past and present). Not one of them expressed any inhumanity towards those that they apprehended. LEOs often have a tough job to do and must deal with the dregs of society.

Folks are turned away from boarding flights at airports for simply not having proper ID or arriving a few minutes late - is that inhumane treatment or simply following the law and/or security protocol? The idea that 'undocumented' folks should be taken at their word and granted entry into or asylum in the US is a really bad idea and open to all manner of abuse.

And all time did was put a meme on the cover of their page. They added the words, "welcome to america." Something just about every person I know has done too! Quit acting outraged.

Totally Agree art is alwasy open to interpretation, BUT how does this help us support immigration reform. Does this NOT continue to drive a nail between it by creating more needless animosity.

I don't think so. I think the discussion conservatives started about this picture being fake news certainly drives the nail in the division. They are now totally ignoring the problem(s) associated w/immigration.

Well, the child could have been separated from the mother.

That’s inhumane in my book.

If you don’t think so, it’s totally irrelevant to you what the actual outcome was of the picture. You are totally fine with whatever happened.

Yet here you are, complaining that it actually demonstrated one humane treatment instead of a different one. Odd.

That (bolded above) is true in many arrests (e.g. for DUI or shoplifting) of parents when their children are present. Very few detention facilities allow the mixing of genders, adults/juveniles or those with different gang affiliations. That is not under the control of the arresting officer. How many family detention facilities exist in 'The birthplace of Italian Beef' so that children are not separated from their parents upon arrest or after sentencing?

If something is not given it is taken

The children were not given so they were taken away

Right.

So you agree that they could have been separated.

So it wasnt a lie or misrepresentation.

It was a pretty good supposition that they would have been seperated, since Trump endorsed a policy of separation weeks ago.bn

When your ancestors entered this country were they doctors, engineers or teachers? or were they just as poor and uneducated as the Central Americans? The difference is that you give a pass to those of white skin.

The United States has been the top destination for international migrants since at least 1960, with one-fifth of the world's migrants living there as of 2017

Here is where your premise is just ignorant. In 2016, 1.49 million foreign-born individuals moved to the United States, a 7 percent increase
from the 1.38 million coming in 2015. India was the leading country of origin, with 175,100 arriving in 2016, followed by 160,200 from
China/Hong Kong, 150,400 from Mexico, 54,700 from Cuba, and 46,600 from the Philippines. So all of the top 5 countries sending immigrants
here in 2016 were 100% non white, except Cuba & Mexico who have a small & irrelevant white minority who may have been in the statistics.

The USA compared to other countries where third worlders seeked entry has been far more charitable.

1) Australia secretly held a group of 46 Vietnamese asylum seekers on a warship at sea for almost a month and rejected their
refugee claims during interviews that took as little as 40 minutes before returning them all to Vietnam last month, officials said.
The Australian navy routinely turns back boats carrying asylum seekers from Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. However,
these boats are usually returned to Indonesia, where most of the sea voyages begin.

2) The entire visgard of Europe from the Baltic to the Mediteraneanare are refusing to accept any more migrants &
Hungary along with Slovakiahave never accepted any of the boat people. Defying the EU, Poland, Czech Republic,
Slovakia, Poland & now even Italy are refusing not only immigrants from Moslem countries but also Africans coming from Libyan Ports.
Using Hungary as an example: The legislation makes several basic human-rights activities illegal. Helping refugees fill in
forms, distributing information to asylum seekers about how to claim refuge or organizing professional networks to help
migrants could result in a possible jail sentence as punishment, according to the Hungarian Helsinki Committee, a human-rights group.

Only five lawmakers voted against the bill, with 159 voting for it. The legislation was proposed by Prime Minister Viktor Orban's
ruling right-wing Fidesz party, which holds a super-majority in parliament. Immigration featured prominently in April's election,
which saw Orban returned to power in a crushing landslide.

Trump planted the seed and Nationalism is on the march. It looks like the Europeans who Trump blasted for accepting
illegals a year ago are beating the USA to the punch because of leftwing resistance to practical immigration policies.

Here is the punchline: "What we can see is that Viktor Orban won this election due to only one issue — and
this is clearly migration," Andras Biro-Nagy, political analyst at Policy Solutions, a Hungarian think tank, told CNBC Monday.
"For the vast majority of the population, (immigration) is seen as a threat to the cultural identity of the country.
This is why economic arguments like potential GDP growth due to immigration simply do not matter," he added.

The threat that Trump sees Visgard Europe is already acting on. Refusing to accept what human experience
teaches is the mark of a liberal utopian ideologue. For the last four decades maybe even five
the prominent thinking by the Establishment tried to 'create the concept of the ideal nation the most egalitarian, diverse & liberated that
ever existed. But there is a reason why these dreams never come true unalterable human nature, the eternal enemy of all utopians.'
'No stable society can stand on a theory running counter to reality’

After they did it a second time its a felony.

Dont ask me about the prosecutorial procedures in pertaining to Kushner its there in front of them the DOJ seems to have their own personal discretion on whom they prosecute and who doesnt. Ask HRC as well.....

Im a conservative and I have provide a lot of info in this thread, I did not ignore nor gave my thoughts. Funny Speaker of the house has been trying to put together 2 bills..... no support from the dems? But meh they are all garbage right now in my eyes

Old news. MSM is already hard at work finding (creating) the next anti Trump crisis for Americans to latch onto. On Monday.

No.... actually, its Trump that manufacturers crises to deflect from the last crisis. It would be better for our society (and not as good for him) if we had fewer abominations so that we could actually develop and understand each one.

That said, the only good thing (and, I hate to that as the deflection is pretty much evil) about the self induced tragedy at the border is that it provides a little quiet time for Mueller to organize and move forward.

Each attack ADDS a layer to Trumps armor, at this point, so its no wonder that Trump ENCOURAGES the attacks.

His 35% won't win him an election however.... it just makes him feel good. It is a pity that the Trump groupies don't get that his entire presidency is ONLY about his personal glory.

Trump doesn't give a flying .... about America, you, world peace, human beings in general (see current border crisis), the rule of law, American exceptionalism, American role as a leader in the world, fundamental American institutions that are critical to the continuance of our Democracy or even democracy itself. Fortunately at least 55% of America does get that Trump is unfit to serve.... which is why he is no more than a one-termer. His "armor" will not protect him from his immense unpopularity (most Americans see him as a threat).

We are just hoping to control the damage in that one term.

If you're a photojournalist covering a story, you might or might not get all the details on every single incident that you photograph.
Clearly, at the time the picture was snapped, the mother was being interrogated and/or detained/arrested* by the Border Patrol.
(*pick one)

If the photographer was a journalist, they might have waited to get more info, and they might have (A ) been told to leave, or (B ) told that info could not be provided, or (C ) they might have had to move on and shoot something else.

If it was presumed that the mother and child were being separated, and it later turned out that another reporter got an update, then it was presumed incorrectly but at the time the photo was shot, the details were unknown, however the photo was compelling.
The photo was compelling because it represents an "everyman" issue, parents losing their children.
Hate to break it to you, but that is how photojournalism has always worked, and attempts to turn this photo into an AAAA-HAAA GOTCHA! won't work. If you believe that cruel separation absolutely IS NOT TAKING PLACE in any way whatsoever, jumping all over this photo is not a substitute for backing up your argument, not in the least.

It is every bit as doubtful that your argument that children aren't being cruelly separated from parents is just as full of holes as the reality of these individuals in the photo however your argument lacks proof, and is therefore not compelling in the least, and smells of dog whistle.

Photojournalists snap thousands of images every day, and since photos tell a story, stories get fleshed out with photos.
If you can prove that NOT ONE SINGLE PARENT WAS CRUELLY separated from their babies, I'm waiting for proof beyond the shadow of a doubt.
Lacking that, this photo represents the plight of any and all to whom such a practice HAS been DONE.
