Major League Baseball 2017

I was disappointed with Manny Machado's reaction after last night's game. I get that he's frustrated and pissed off with the Red Sox, I've lost a lot of respect for them as well, but keep your cool in the post-game interviews and just pay them back with home runs like the past two nights, and charge the mound if the pitcher actually does hit you. Now they know that they've gotten to him and it will only get worse.

I am not. He handled it perfectly. Boston has now tried 3 different pitchers to end his career in the less then a week, on 5 pitches, either at his head or his surgically repaired knees. Machado's point was pitchers get very little punishment, especially starting pitchers. A 5 game suspension = 1 start. Machado charging the mound against Yordano Ventura got him a 4 game suspension (actually missed 4 games). Ventura got 8 games (missed 1 start). Machado also points out, a pitcher throwing at a player is "okay" by the league but if Manny or any other player swung and clocked the pitcher with a bat, he'd be suspended for the year.

Stroman not so much. He did have a bad night. Rest of the staff.. absolutely.

Estrada's pretty good with a 2.43 ERA and striking out more than a man an inning. I agree the rest of their current staff is awful though. But they should be better when Sanchez and Happ come back.

Personally, I feel the Orioles and Red Sox franchises should be ashamed of themselves. They have embarrassed the game of baseball with this carnival act.

Adam Jones is a hot head yet he gets this butt-hurt over a derogatory swear word? Give me a break! Blacks in the 50's- 60's had it much worse. Grow up. Jackie Robinson was taunted daily when he played for the Dodgers. The same goes for Bill Russell.

An overrated player that is not WS material. I couldn't believe he made the all-star game 5 times! What's ironic is that AJ gets offended from a few fans but this clown attacked the entire country of Puerto Rico during the WBC! What a hypocrite.

The same goes for Manny Machado. This guy really needs to get his act together if he wants a big contract from the Yankees. Show some composure. Last year he was throwing bats at players and now he is swearing like a baby to reporters.

Leadership is really lacking for both the Red Sox and Orioles.

Orioles have done nothing wrong. But I don't expect a Yankee to know the unwritten rules of baseball.

It wasn't derogatory word.. it was several n*ggers thrown his way along with objects thrown at him. Boston is a hell hole, even CC Sabathia has stated Boston is the place he got abused that way.

He didn't attack PR. He pointed out PR counted it's chickens before they hatched. US won the WBC!

Like all Yankees fans, you are clueless about the unwritten rules of baseball and live in your own little world.

I agree wholeheartedly that a pitcher should get a longer suspension than a regular position player, (if a third baseman gets 4 games, a pitcher should get 20 games), but losing your cool in post-game interviews is not how you address that, and it did more harm than good.

I am a die hard Sox fan and always will be. But I have to agree with Machado (even if he is a immature asshole) with his opinion that you don't trow 90+ mph fastballs at a players head.

Sales should get a week off for his efforts.

Pedroia got smeared and lambasted all last week on the Boston sports radio shows for not supporting Sales attempted throw at Machado's head. Pedroia has more class in his little pinky than many of the Boston fans base and sports commentators.

And another thing, I can guarantee you that every Italian & Irish bar around Boston was full of the usual patrons who were having fun, and cheering the racial taunting going on with Jones last week. I know that city like some people know there own families. From 1967 up to 2012, I have been to Fenway for easily a 150+ games. Most games were great and you never heard anything, but there were many others where black players had racial slurs thrown at them. Reggie Jackson, Milton Bradley, and Ricky Henderson all come to mind. Jackson almost went into the Fenway seats a couple times after a fan

I think it was 1969 if I remember right, But George Scott was going through another one of his mini batting slumps and was getting overweight again. I never heard any player take it as bad as he did from the radio & fans. I was on the first base side one afternoon about 10 rows back from the dug out. The Angels were in town. When the Sox were leaving the dugout to start the game, some moron to my left kept screaming out....... get back on the bench you fat ****ing Nigger. The moron continued on with his put down's while everyone around him laughed and egged him on. I knew George could hear every word of it. The irony of it all was that "The Boomer" was probably the most funny & fan friendly players on the team ever! Yaz would walk right by the kids without a single look, but The Boomer always had 5-10 minutes for the kids and you could tell that he looked forward to seeing them. He'd bring extra balls and the miniature bats, and he teased the hell out of them.

"The Boomer" is still my all time favorite Red Sox player today.

Yaz was a total prick to the kids, went through many of his own slumps, and got a free publicity ride, while Scott just another 'darky" to many of the fans.

Hey, Bucky. This is 2017. Bringing up the 50's as some sort of justification for current BoSox fan asshattery is lame to say the least.

I'm not sure why the Sox felt they had to throw at Mach 3 times. They had a problem, they threw at him. That should end it.

But they keep throwing at him? I don't follow the AL, so am I getting that right? 3 times?

5 times, since the slide.

Yeah, then enough. Seriously you throw at a guy once, hit him, then its over. 5 times? WTF?

I don't know what's worse for the Red Sox, the fact that they threw at Machado 5 times, or the fact that none of their pitchers could hit him?

4 times. in 3 different games.

The Jays STINK!!!

I know it's very early...but I say give up. Get whatever young talent/draft picks you can get and gut the team.

The Jays are old, slow and with a virtually empty farm system...blow it up.

It's a weird sport. And a long season, they may be able to turn it around.

2 weeks ago the Mets were dead last in runs scored. And then they lose their best player/hitter. They're dead in the water? Right? Now they are 5th from the top in runs scored and not looking quite as dead. But their pitching? The strength of the team, their pitching was going to carry them to the World Series!!! That's 3rd from the bottom, almost dead LAST.

IDK. I've been a fan since 1962, I never could figure it out, maybe that's why I like the game so much.

Mets suspend Matt Harvey for 3 days without pay for violating team 'policy'.

Mets aren't saying why but I'm guessing it had something to do with the 'sex toy' prank in a tweeter picture from the Mets locker room after Friday's game.

Amazing!

Yankees have the best team in MLB and the best farm system as well!

After 20 years the dynasty has returned. Great job by Cashman with drafting and trades.

Man, I really miss Curt Schilling on ESPN.

Jessica Medonza lacks the panache, flair or confidence to be good at this job.

She needs to be more assertive. As an analyst, especially in a sport like baseball, I don't really see the value of having her in the booth. Sometimes I forget she is even there! Silent!

I'm glad we gave Chapman back to the Skankees.

He was the reason why you guys won the WS but this was a terrible outing for him.

Time for the Yankees to win it in extra innings and sweep the Cubs.

I hope so. I'll enjoy the Cardinals being ahead of them if the Yankees do. For however long it lasts.

Game is in the 17th inning. I will leave the game and something will happen.
