Wow! Duckworth blocks all military promotions until Esper states in writing he won’t interfere with

Interesting comment when you go on about an attempted coup, showing us that you have no idea how the Constitution's checks and balances work. Now.....tell us how this is an "attempted coup".

If you are unaware of the events up to this point, you're either in denial, or stupid.

Tammy Duckworth, US Senator on the Armed Services Committee, has just held up all promotions until Esper stops blocking Vindman’s promotion to Colonel.

I bet Susan Collins is amazed that US Senators have so much power to do things.

From various reports twitter feeds:

“Wow -- Duckworth says she will block Senate approvals of **1,123** senior U.S. Armed Forces promotions until Esper "confirms in writing that he did not, or will not, block the expected and deserved promotion of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman to Colonel."

“Senator Tammy Duckworth is blocking a vote on hundreds of military promotions until Defense Secretary Mark Esper confirms that he won't retaliate against Alexander Vindman for testifying at Trump's impeachment hearings, @IsaacDovere reports.”

How is one left wing senator able to block all promotions? Besides the POTUS is the commander in chief and has power over the military, she doesn't and is interfering in the chain of command.

Barr hasn't obfuscated anything. But great job regurgitating the issued talking points.

Speaking of Barr...wonder how he's gonna manage a second "suicide" to protect himself and bunker boy from their pedophile past.

Let her hold up 100s of promotions if she thinks thats the prudent course of action .

It will be interesting to see how many of those promotees are actually in solidarity with Vindman?

There are people who know vindman, and who know things we don't, and who others look to for these reasons. And whose opinions will be accepted by those people. Basic social function.

So don't be surprised if there is a significant complement who stand with Vindman in defense of his honor. Because they are confident he is, as he appears to be, an honorable, competent soldier.

It's really going to depend on that. Whether or not other soldiers believe conservative media and trump or the evidence of their senses and personal knowledge and the word on the subject of those they trust.

Maybe they did, but if they, and you align with the Democrat Party of today, it's all out the window.

Just like your cult has taught you to believe and say.

I don't like senior officers, but it's really humorous to watch people who spent the majority of their careers sweeping rocks at the motor pool insist that Vindman doesn't deserve to be a big bird.

You might want to brush up on the appointments clause of the US constitution....

Check your Constitution.

"...and [the President] shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States..."

Wrong and wrong. Congress only approves or not the recommendations and then the president either signs or not. I think you have congress confused with the pentagon.

It is you who is confused. You might want to actually read the US Constitution before making moronic statements about a document you obviously have never read.

The President plays no role in the promotion of military officers. It is entirely up to Congress. No presidential signature is required. All bills passed by Congress become law automatically after ten calendar days (excluding Sundays) while Congress is in session.

None of this is correct. I suggest maybe you should check on that whole Constitition thing - start with the Appointments Clause.

Who nominates officers for promotion? The tooth fairy?

Given the ignorance of Donald Trump regarding all matters and his record of retaliating against his perceived enemies who surround him, we should not put it past him to order Mark Esper to make sure Vindman does not get a promotion. Sen. Duckworth is right to require in writing that this did not nor will not happen.

You know that Presidents and Secretaries of Defense have absolutely nothing to do with the promotions of officers, right? Only Congress has the authority to create and promote military officers. This is nothing more than a political stunt my a mentally-stunted Sen. Duckworth.

She does not have the authority to hold up 1,123 promotions either, so that was a complete fabrication. She is a very minor member of a Republican-controlled Armed Services Committee. She has one vote out of 25 on that committee. So she can neither guarantee Vidman will be promoted, nor can she hold up any one else's promotion as she intentionally lied about.

Sen. Duckworth is another one of your stereotypical Democrat honor less scum who seeks harm the military anyway she can, but lacks the ability and the authority.

So you mean Trump nominated Vindman to be a Col?

You're still wrong, no matter how many times you repeat yourself.

He asked for McChrystal's resignation, and got it.

What does that have to do with the subject of this thread?

Obama asked? Seriously, McChrystal was run off.

Duckworth legally can so what she is doing. But is she fair to the over 1100 other Officers?

No, Vindman was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in 2015, which means Obama "nominated" him for his last promotion.

My problem with Duckworth is she is having a hissy fit and delaying promotions for deserving officers of over 1100 officers.

I'd be willing to bet that many, if not most, support Vindman because they can see themselves unfairly having their promotion blacklisted if they were to cross trump politically. Sen. Duckworth is protecting the process that is supposed to be politics-free.

that is now for the republican party to decide
