What qualifies Pete Buttigieg to be President of the United States?

He was mayor of a city of slightly over 100,000 for 8 years. He wants to control the largest economy in the world, the largest military in the world but what experience does he have that says this is a good bet?

All it takes is a good plan. "Even a corporal can do it". It is one reason why need to engender more rocket scientists, to prevent margin calls.

Actually, before Reagan ran for public office he was the President of the Screen Actors Guild. He also served as host of the General Electric Theater on television. His contract called for him to spend a 4 of his 8 years (1954-1962) with the company touring the forty states and 139 plants of GE's domain, addressing 250,000 employees and their neighbors. It was after Reagan had completed his contract with GE that he became a Republican in 1962.

Reagan was far more qualified when he ran for Governor than Buttigieg was when he ran for Mayor. Buttigieg is a political light-weight who will not last.

President of the Screen Actors Guild? LOL, sure, that qualified him to be the governor of a state with a GDP that places 5th in the entire world if California were an independent country.

Come on, Glitch. You can't be serious. What is the relevant executive experience of the President of the Screen Actors Guild? Trying to influence who the Academy nominates for the Oscar? Negotiating good contracts for the starlets who were willing to sleep with directors and producers to get hired to "act" (scantly clad) in mediocre movies? Managing the egos of spoiled brats who were big stars? LOL

One thing that qualifies Pete is his willingness to stand for the US presidency.

The US has thousands of people who would be excellent presidents. 99.9% of then are far too wise to seek to assume a role where they and their families would live surrounded by the hyenas of the media, bent on tearing them to pieces. The only people who have a well considered reason to seek high office are those intent on enriching themselves - for example Bill and Hillary. Otherwise you are stuck with those with gigantic egos. The most recent President - maybe the last ever - to stand out of a sense of duty was, imo, Eisenhower.

Douglas Adams, the author of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" said it best: "Nobody who runs for president is qualified for the job, because the ones who are qualified don't run."

Even if you would accept that experience as a businessman and corporate executive might be adequate for the highest office, without even getting into his bankruptcies and taking his own numbers at face value (as Forbes, Fortune and Marketwatch did, none of these being any sort of left wing rag), we can easily determine his performance in these capacities was terrible and objectively underperforming (and by a lot a that) and he is indeed utterly unqualified:

With all the hate out there, and people wanting to read hate...

Just how real is all that?

I know one headline was an outright lie.

But he never said, "I can see Chicago from my house."

And anyone who thinks Sarah Palin said "I can see Russia from my house" is a total spoon fed fool. It has been repeatedly proven that she did not say that.

Neither did Sarah. You leftists are so removed from reality you can't even tell the difference between what Tina Fey said on SNL and what Sarah Palin said. That is pathetic on so many levels, but expected from the mentally deranged, and clearly delusional, leftist freaks.

Yes, very pathetic how the liberals deny all reality and believe comedy.

Hey. Actors can have worse temperaments than congress.

More experience than trump had.

This ios so true for so many reason. It's maybe once in a lifetime we see someone actually qualified. I don't think we will ever see another JFK or Ronald Reagan.

I know. I saw the Palin interview and the SNL skit. It's too bad you have no sense of humor. Is that a choice?

How did Trump screw things up? Trump is not a war hawk, and other than the dumb tariffs, the economy is doing fine.

It's perception. His character, his bullying, his cheating and lying, his constant turmoil that he creates everywhere he goes.... The left is disgusted with a President like this, while the right keeps saying they like what he's done with the economy, tax cuts, immigration....

I think Trump is a screw up and a liar, and he does not deserve to hold the highest office in the land. He is a joke.

I have a sense of humor, the problem is too many people believe that she actually said it. Then it becomes disgusting for people to help propagate such a hoax. Anyone with a shred of integrity should be ashamed.

Ad this makes him worse than the Clintons, how?

She's an idiot

Yet she governed four times the population Buttigieg ever governed, and she at least had to deal with foreign nations which is more than Buttigieg can claim.

No, not an idiot. Just very poor at public speaking.

Do you always vote for smooth speaking charlatans?

No she's an idiot. Do you know what her favorite scotus decision was?

What qualified the present occupant of the WH?

Didn't the left complain about his qualifications? So now you totally disregard that and think a guy with very little experience at any higher level is OK? This is always the democrats way, complain about the other side and then do the same thing or worse. I'd say that Trump has much more financial experience than Pete. To think a major of a city of 100,000 has some special skill set is a bit of a stretch. I'm just saying that if you didn't think trump was qualified, then Pete sure isn't. Oh yeah, he has that one special quality that we can't talk about but that allows him to run. Obama had little experience either and democrats were fine with his lack of experience, not even one complete term in the Senate. But, you guys thought Trump had no qualifications.

The only real comeback for that question is that Trump did it, so why can't a guy who is smarter and who has political aspirations do it?

I don't want Pete to get the nomination because I do think he's too green and too unknown, but again, Trump did it and he screwed things royally. Pete can't do much worse.

Screwed what? The booming economy? You just don't have the facts to support that comment.

A pity you believe she said that.

:2funny:

I literally posted an animated GIF of a Tina Fey comedy quote WITH TINA FEY AND NOT SARAH PALIN IN THE GIF.

So. You want to accuse me of saying anything else that I absolutely did not say? :laughat:

So after reading through this I see no strong reasons why Pete should even be still in the race. He is a novelty and that's it. I think the mayor of Pots Camp, MS should run in 2024. Just a qualified as Pete. Trump ran Billion dollar corporations. He understands business and finance and it is clear that his work on the economy has been a big plus for the country. ON top of that he now has 4 years experience at President and has a good record. The fact that democrats don't want to recognize it is purely politics. The numbers say he has done well. The Collusion, impeachment, Trump Dossier, FISA warrants, corrupt process in the FBI/DOJ investigations into Trump were all purely political. Democrats had their own President impeached and for an actual crime, lied in a federal court. But hey that doesn't count for democrats.
Without the dirty tricks of the democrats against Trump they would have no chance of a win in 2020. The democrat house is crumbling.
