Most lilberal critics of trump are personally offended by him in addition to wanting to stop his agenda - trump voters agenda - dead in its tracks

When I know that their purpose is totally opposit of mine I take that very seriously

In short the left has personalized its beef with trump and the backlash to that is sometimes personal also

So personal has our politics become that partisans are beginning to attack each other physically and even attempt murder

I take that development seriously also
That is the mirror of the hard right, far right, and alt right personal beefs with Obama and Clinton and the liberals.

Yes, we have serious problems in the country.

I voted for HRC because I felt she was the lesser of two evils. My main motivator was SCOTUS. I feel a hard core, conservative SCOTUS will further damage the nation.

We are almost mirror images of each other

I voted for trump for the same reasons you voted for hillary

Our country is now in serious and unprecedented trouble...like never before.

This election is a total sham and a travesty. We are not a democracy!

Lets fight like hell and stop this great and disgusting injustice! The world is laughing at us.

We can't let this happen. We should march on Washington and stop this travesty. Our nation is totally divided!

The phony electoral college made a laughing stock out of our nation. The loser one!

He lost the popular vote by a lot and won the election. We should have a revolution in this country!

More Votes equals a loss...revolution!

The electoral college is not phony

Its been the basis of our presidential elections since the constitution was adopted 230 years ago

have you actually done any research? since the 1988 election, (or earlier) 85-90% of the media members covering presidential elections have admitted to voting for the DEMOCRAT. The positive to negative ratio of stories have always favored the Democrat over the Republican. The fawning favorable press Obama received was unparalleled while the negative stories about McCain and then Romney were more pronounced. Hillary was the darling of the press and the late night talk shows constantly bashed Trump

I have no problems with Union members s supporting Democrats as long as the BECK decision was enforced by the DOL-something Clinton and Obama did not promote

We'll just have to agree to disagree that the press gives Dems a "pass" vs. the GOP. I remember the exhaustive, national coverage of the Monica Lewinsky, Eliot Spitzer, and Anthony Weiner scandals. I don't remember the press "fawning" over Hillary Clinton. I do, however remember all the free press Trump received at each of his rallies. I get it. You hate Democrats and the left with the intensity of a million suns. I'm sorry we exist, but we're here to stay.

He said so in the OP try reading before you post!!!!

Since leftwing rants by anti trumpsters are a dime a dozen around here he was clearly asking trump supporters to bash their candidate

Just for a change of pace I suppose

Trump was an example of no press is worse than bad press. I don't hate Democrats individually but I have no use for that party as it currently exists. its become a reactionary parasitic statist organization that no longer really cares about comforting the afflicted but merely afflicting people that don't buy into their reactionary parasitic statism

And the way Bush was treated by libs when he was president

Each change of the white house is accompanied by payback for previous uncivil behavour - plus interest - that insures our politics will get ever more contentios and lees compromising over time

I think both parties are now consciously trying for authoritarian power while disguising their intent.

why don't you educate me on what you think competence to be president requires and why Trump doesn't meet your definition. then establish that your definitions are ones that other citizens should adopt.

He is a pathological liar who lacks enough self control to even stop himself from posting stupid things on Twitter and embarrassing the country in the process, for one. I doubt that he is even competent to navigate a debate on this site without relying solely on personal attacks and logical fallacies from post one. That's unnerving, man.

opinion noted and rejected. I don't think you are able to make such a claim and actually back it up with hard facts.

the fact is, millions of Americans, many of them as smart and honest as you are, chose Trump

I think both parties are now consciously trying for authoritarian power while disguising their intent.

I think both sides want to have power so they can stick it to the other side

lots of social conservatives want to use government to harass and attack gay "rights" abortion "rights" and to a lesser extent, the feminist movement, the labor movement, BLM and other groups

lots of lefties want the government to harass and attack gun rights, Christians, some types of the wealthy, etc

I think JamesBY is correct, they want to solidify power. The issues you mention are merely "tools" to keep their faithful in line.

I think it's too early to tell with Trump. I don't like his manner, and I think he has been caught in some blatant lies. But then, NewsFlash: politicians lie. I think we must judge on results, and it's too early to see what those are.

Yes and Yes and Yes

But more than that I think there are elements in both parties that want to turn America into a one-party nation

I'm not sure what they're waiting on. It's like they got so good at obstructing that they forgot how to govern.

Well, in my ever humble opinion, the way I see it, it's like this -- The GOP and DNC despite all the BS, at the federal level, share an agenda that matches one another 95% of the way.

Trump has really screwed their pooch.

Trump has gone out and tried to put into practice what the GOP has been preaching.

The GOP want nothing of it.

All that obstruction, all that talk during the Obama years and when the time came for a showdown? What they do? They gave up their panties. Each and every time.

I mean, it got to the point I was all but sure that Obama had pictures of Boehner dressed up like Pippi Longstocking in a leather bustier at the Blue Oyster. He was diddling himself in the corner watching McConnell do body shots off the ass of a male prostitute who they had Paul Ryan pick up along with some black market Viagra in Tijuana, and on Ryan they had the photo's from the cam at the border and a copy of the purchase req on congressional letterhead. I swore it was so.

Now, what? They don't want immigration control. They don't want an American first economic policy. They preach all that patriotic mumbo jumbo but what have they shown us? Anything and everything that has been a substantial part of the rhetoric that the GOP has preached since who knows when is being shown for what it is -- BS.

You can't just put this on them distancing themselves from Trump. Because no matter how much the media screeds, no matter how ridiculous Trump makes himself look, no matter how crass and vulgar, childish and petty -- Passing the party's agenda, that which the American people voted these clowns into office for, should be their only priority.

A simple, "Well, you know, Trump is Trump and will always be Trump but this is what we as Republicans have been supporting and touting and pushing for -- We're get'ner done!"

Trump hasn't made the GOP a joke, the GOP has done that all on their own.

Yes and Yes and Yes

But more than that I think there are elements in both parties that want to turn America into a one-party nation

that is most obviously true

Trump has respect for the office he holds

But the rabid leftwing chooses to given him an rectal exam each morning looking for any fact or fiction that they can bash him for

What is Trump's Most Substantial Presidential Shortcoming?

He spent the last 8 year trying to undermine the office he now occupies. ;)

He's the demagogue leader of a de facto Faction. (as described by Madison in Federalist paper 10.0

"The Republican Party has become the people James Madison warned us against: a Faction. In any country, the most dangerous thing that can happen is for a group and its political representatives to act as if their view alone represents the nation. That thinking leads to the view that they alone “are” the nation and that those who disagree with them are not of the nation – even if they are fellow citizens, born on the country’s soil. When this happens in a democratic republic, like the US, and the view takes over a political party, then the threat to the national fabric is mortal.

And that is the heart of the crisis in America today: The Republicans are no longer a political party but a faction.
The danger of factions was noted at the foundation of the United States. In Federalist paper #10 James Madison defined faction as, “a number of citizens, whether amounting to a minority or majority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adverse to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community.” ..."

We like Trump because he's less likely to allow the disease of effete Eurosocialism infect this country. Its also why most Eurosocialists hate Trump

some in the GOP attack court created "rights"

Many Democrats attack enumerated constitutional rights

That is a very truthful, profound statement.

However when it comes to Trump, it is Trump who is his worst enemy.

The start to this week was a very upbeat full of positive vibes from the WH. It was suppose to be a week of highlighting Made in America. By Wednesday the Heathcare bill overshadowed it yet Trump called for the Senators to come to the WH for a luncheon/meeting where he laid out all the things in the bill that would aid in helping the middle class that are truly hurting on healthcare premium costs to bring down premiums and save Medicaid for those who truly need it. He also laid out all the failures of Obamacare and the effect it was having on people across the country. He asked the senators not to go on Summer break till they can agree on a bill. It was all good. And this should have been the major story of the day.

But Trump crapped it up by sitting down with three reporters of the NYT for an interview where humiliated Jeff Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia investigation. And that became the headline of the day!

What Trump did was so wrong to one of the few in his administration that has actually been very productive in getting things done. Why in Sam Hill would you sit down with a newspaper that hates your guts and trash one in your administration? What a putz!

I loved Tucker Carlson's response to Trump on this snafu.

The WH was blindsided by this interview. The only person that was privy to it was Hope Hicks. But it isn't the first time this has happened. His press secretary and those involved with communications are in constant contact with the Oval office. They go before the reporters with the message the President wants relayed. They do so and hours later there have been times Trump undermines them by contradicting them. He literally makes it at times impossible in communications to do their job successfully.

So it appears Spicer resigned so Trump could put into place Scaramucci because he wasn't happy with the communications team. Personally, it wasn't Spicer that has been screwing up communications, it's Trump! And nothing is going to change until someone gets in his face and reads him the riot act. Six months he has had the excuse as a novice politician. OTJ training is over. Stop the stupid.

And while this all happened today it took away from some really important and relevant stories that shows a lot of progress in implementing Trump's agenda. VP Pence agreed to meet with several groups of grassroots activists today that put a lot of effort into getting the Republicans elected to Congress. And quite frankly they are fed up with their unwillingness to push through what they promised they would do starting with repealing Obamacare. They let the Senate know today that basically put up or shut up and if they don't honor their promises then they will be seeking someone to challenge them in their next primary.

Another important story was Susan Rice gave testimony before Congress on unmasking. That's a big deal yet no major cable network covered a damn bit of it because of Trump and his shakeup in his communications department. You see, Trump just keeps shooting himself in the foot.
