And to be honest, this is a minor compared to the hurricanes that are coming.

It's still horrible of course and we need FEMA. But Republicans are going to kill it.

And I think most Republicans know that we need FEMA. They're just staying in line until it hurts them personally.

"Parents were desperate for news about campers who remain missing from Camp Mystic, a Christian girls camp at the river's edge. On Friday evening, about two dozen campers were unaccounted for."

Horrible. RIP the victims and Godspeed to their families.

I actually did some camping years ago as a teen kind of in that general region, which is the Texas hill country. They do get some unpredictable weather this time of year. In fact got caught up in a nasty line of storms that produced tornadoes nearby. I don't remember hearing or seeing tornadoes but some of the most intense lightning I've ever seen. The lightning scared the shit out of me because I was certain it was going to strike our little cabins.

Trump has promised federal help for Texas. He promised it on his way to his golf course. He cares deeply. Never mind that his goal was to put more burden on states to take care of these things with reduced federal assistance. What a great and caring president we have. I am sure he will struggle with his emotions as he wins his next round of golf while thinking about the poor victims of this tragedy.

The camp where the children are missing had a strict rule that no electronic devices were allowed (so everyone could decompress by being away from social media).

My deepest condolences.

NWS issued a flash flood warning at 1:14 AM, but local municipalities dropped the ball on passing on the warnings.

One official said: “The original forecast we received on Wednesday from the National Weather Service predicted 3-6” of rain in the Concho Valley and 4-8” of rain in the hill country. The amount of rain that fell in these locations was never in any of their forecasts. Everybody got the forecast from the National Weather Service. They did not predict the amount of rain that we saw.”

4-8" is flooding. Idiots.

How horrible!

Donald doesn't care.
Taco was too busy yesterday soaking in the sycophantic love from Trumplicans as he signed his BBB that guts the funding of agencies like the NWS so the monied elites could have a tax break.

This is all a terrible tragedy, and I'm sure questions about how to better prepare and manage this kind of situation better will come up, especially in an area where these events are common enough that it's named "flash flood alley".
