USA was most prepared nation for a Pandemic

The John Hopkins study it references? Yeah, sure you did. How about taking off your orange tinted beer googles.

Here's the Johns Hopkins study President Trump referenced in his coronavirus news conference | Hub

So that one category out of the six the study measured that the US fell well down in rank was the one that literally ended up out Trumping them all. Our failed political leader. So sad.

So Trump's obsession with numbers, lying about numbers and being Number One continues. Sad indeed.

How did he **** up worse than the other nations that are ****ed up... like Italy, Spain, France, Germany, the UK, Ireland, etc.???

Poor argument.
You can't try and argue that we were the best prepared, and then point to other failures as a sign of how well prepared we were.
We still have more infected than any other nation.
Seriously, poor argument.

"Best prepared" in this current scenario is like bragging that you won a race in which you were the only contestant.

Why don't you actually read the damn article? If you do you would see that it isn't exactly handing out any kudos to the USA. Supposedly the richest and most powerful nation on the face of the earth. Was only really the 'best prepared' of all the "underprepared" nations.Which included every nation. But we're suppose to be better than this according to the theory of American exceptualism, right?

‘Murica its the blithering idiots that get more upset at people pointing out the problem than those who botched this that will get more people killed.

Please, the article is bootlicking Trump and parroting his talking points about how the "exercised extensive caution" in its response. Cotton was wrong about the virus being man made, but spot on in his assessment of its damage potential.

Is the right attitude.

Is pure boot licking of the Trump administration and

is downright disinformation.

The article criticized his demonization of China via conspiracy theory and allusions to war in calling a vaccine program "A Manhattan Project."

He was pushing a conspiracy theory. He claimed China worked with the coronavirus prior to its emergence. His "taking it seriously" was part of an hysterical reaction to believing China had attacked us with a biological weapon.

"The guy that believed China had attacked us with a biological weapon was taking it seriously."

Great. Let's put the Truthers in charge.

Was not expecting anything from you.

I will try to remember to check back with you at the end of the month, maybe things look much different to you then.

New York just said that they may reached the apex... so it might look a lot different.

The point is that we have a world class setup for this, so we don't have an excuse not to handle it well.

Are we not handling it? Maybe a little slow but it is unreasonable to expect the nation/world to react like a Hollywood movie and quarantine everything and have the stars running around in hazmat suits...

I never said anything about Trump;... that is your hate filled problem that is skewing you away from the facts.

The U.S. actually ranked 19th "....after Australia, Canada, Singapore and more than a half-dozen European countries — in an assessment of overall risk and vulnerability to biological threats."

Yeah... and first in five other categories...

The point of the article is that every nation, including the United States, was ill prepared. This should surprise no one.

Exactly... so why is everybody bashing the USA and not "every nation"... hmmm?

"Most prepared" is meaningless when no nation anywhere was anything like even remotely prepared for this outbreak. It's like saying one woman is more pregnant than another.

So you blame all countries equally or do you reserve all of your scorn for Trump?

I don't believe I mentioned Trump, and I'm not pouring scorn on anyone, anywhere over Covid-19; you would have noticed that in the post you replied to. It caught everyone on the hop; nobody anywhere was, or could have been prepared for the onslaught, and for several reasons.

That isn't my argument... so, poor reading comprehension... seriously poor reading comprehension.

We don't live in "every nation". The USA is not being bashed, only some of its leadership.

There we go... more of this and less criticism from everybody would be nice.

According to this 2019 article, was the most prepared nation in the world for a pandemic.

The OP is creating a title that is contrary to the article that he's linking.

The article's title is: None of these 195 countries — the U.S. included — is fully prepared for a pandemic, report says

It says this, The United States does well in five of six preparedness categories but ranks 19th — after Australia, Canada, Singapore and more than a half-dozen European countries — in an assessment of overall risk and vulnerability to biological threats. The factors driving down the U.S. score include the risks of social unrest and terrorism, and low public confidence in government. Liechtenstein ranked No. 1 on this measure.

Where have I criticised America's response to the virus? Point out the post and you'll have my apology.

I deleted that post a fraction of a second after you must have quoted it...

The OP does a lot of contrarian things and I told him that people need to be careful when engaging in his threads because of it...

Ah, the ole "this guys was wrong about something sometime, so everything he says about anything ever can be dismissed." Please. He was wrong about China making the virus. He was absolutely right about how we should have reacted. People didn't listen (maybe because media like Huffpo told them the virus wasn't a big deal?) and people are dead because of it. Awful.

This is why posting here is so depressing. You squash one conspiracy theory and six more roaches skitter across the floor clattering about another one. First, ask yourself: if the US was the most prepared country, why the US is having the worst time of it, of all the countries in the world? Particularly given we were the best prepared. Don't run from the question, answer it. Second, while I believe Trump is both incompetent and racist, the lack of preparation can't be laid entirely on Trump's feet; however, Trump's inaction, dithering and false and unhelpful statements followed by lies and excuses, however, have made things much worse than it needed to be. Finally, let's not get into cite wars because, as we know, you conservatives will always lose the cite wars battle. Like Maher or Colbert said: "reality has a well-known liberal bias" and you can't escape reality; indeed, reality tell us that Trump was warned many times and decided to gamble and ignore those warnings. The blood of thousands of Americans are on his hands (and that of his political handlers and associates).

Mar 6, Trump at CDC. "These scientists are doing a phenomenal job with something that came from out of nowhere a very short time ago." Mar 24, WH briefing, Trump, "This came out of nowhere. Nobody can imagine this even happened."

"On 31 December 2019, the WHO China Country Office was informed of cases of pneumonia unknown etiology (unknown cause) detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China."
