So that one category out of the six the study measured that the US fell well down in rank was the one that literally ended up out Trumping them all. Our failed political leader. So sad.

And if you assess the other 5, there is little that being top in those helps with in the situation, except maybe the "early detection and reporting", which in this current situation, we failed miserably at and sufficient and robust health system, if it is prepared for this particular type of situation, not just there. Prevention doesn't apply here, because it didn't start here, there is no vaccine, and the setup for the virus is amazing with how will it spreads undetected without immediate and repeated testing and general lockdown/social distancing practices being met to the best of our ability. Compliance with international norms doesn't really help here, especially if we are doing the "America is the best, we don't need no stinking help" thing that Trump adores. Having a sufficient and robust health system is wonderful, if it is properly supplied. Ours wasn't, and now we are scrambling to find vital supplies (gloves, masks, sanitizers) and equipment (ventilators) before we hit a point where we can't handle the situation.

Barack and Michelle took separate trips at the same time, requiring double the secret service protection and more than double travel and hotel costs for them and their large entourages. We cannot do much about excessive spending by presidents because tradition gives each new president unlimited opportunities to move around and do things most people could not afford to do.

The USA is not even close to having the worst time of it... I have already shown statistics that even New Zealand, per capita, is doing worse and Italy and Spain are doing FAR WORSE.... then Germany, France and others are doing comparatively bad as well. Stats... read up on what is actually going on in the world.

The US appears to be doing better because America was late to the infection party. Give it a couple more weeks and you'll see your rates of infection going off the scale, just as in Italy or Spain.

Trump has said a lot of things which turned out to be wrong. So what? Every politician who ever talked to people has said things which turned out not to be right. That's not wrong, it was a lie. He has complete power over what he chooses to do, when he chooses to golf.

He could have been checking to make sure that we had enough supplies for a potential pandemic instead of golfing. He could be coming up with a plan for healthcare, which he promised.
