No, it's not extortion to insist that a billion dollars NOT be handed over to an extremely corrupt government. Hey, that's my money too and I don't want a bunch of corrupt, cheating politicians in Ukraine spending the money on prostitutes that I worked all my life cleaning up other people's messes for.

He didn't get him fired. Biden, the EU and the IMF all called for the “reform” of the office of Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin. There was an investigation and he was fired due to rampant corruption on his part. So, 'psst' Biden was only responsible for insisting that corruption within the government of Ukraine was cleaned up before we threw a billion dollars at them. Spoiler alert, they got yours too.

This is amazing, a movie about Roy Cohn! I won't see it, that's for sure. By the way, I really like the opinion author Michelle Goldberg. I lived through that whole Roy Cohn era, but much later on after the McCarthy witch hunts. I remember him from articles in magazines about Studio 54 and didn't understand at that time how deeply disturbing and vile that whole club was. I'd see a lot of photos of famous people like Mick Jagger's ex wife Bianca, Calvin Kline, Halston, Liza Minelli, and many other 'celebs'. I had no idea of the hot mess of sex and drugs it was until years later.

There's a paragraph in that article that struck me, "If you are under 35 or 40, it’s probably hard to grasp just how much depravity used to be tolerated in fancy circles, and, further, how tolerating it was itself taken as a sign of sophistication."

That's what it was, people were starstruck and envious of that primal hedonistic celebrity secret society. But not long after hitting it's highest point, just 33 months later, Studio 54 crashed. Roy Cohn died of HIV/AIDS in 1986 and Co-owner of Studio 54 Steve Ravell died of AIDS in 1989. They both paid a price.

He's already said he'd look at whatever dirt a foreign government dug up on his opponents. That's carte blanche for the GRU to start rooting around and digging or creating dirt as soon as the Democrats make a nomination. You okay with that?

Second hand hearsay. The supposed favor was not delivered but the supposed payment was not only made but increased.

The whole thing probably fell apart before they had the story entered. It's one thing when fact checking does not catch a fake, but in this case it did. They ran the story anyway.

That doesn't help your defense of sending Trump's personal attorney to the Ukraine to have the Ukrainians dig up dirt on the Bidens. If Trump was legitimately concerned with Biden and/or his son committing a violation of American law, he would have asked the FBI to investigate.

So, your defense makes no sense. You can try to construct the most convoluted defense of what appears to be gross violations of American law by Trump, which trying to get a foreign government to assist in his election truly is, but that defense doesn't withstand the most cavalier scrutiny.

Ukrainian law would be all that mattered in the Ukraine. He couldn't be prosecuted by Ukrainians for something under US law.To prosecute under US law, Trump would have needed to involve the DOJ to start an investigation. Trumps person lawyer would still have absolutely no business being involved with something like that.
