Trump Has Spent $115 Million on Golf Trips - Or 287 Years of Presidential Salary

The money spent was to leave Washington and go home. How many trips to Martha's Vineyard, the Hamptons, Kailua, Africa? (How much does it cost to send Pelosi and entourage home to San Fransisco) The grifters from Arkansas didn't own a home to go to; the Obama's, did they ever go home to their Rezko house in Chicago? W he went home to Crawford, rode a bike and worked on the land. Jimmah he went home to Plains Georgia and drank Billie Beer with his brother. Reagan went home to his ranch in Santa Barbara ...rode his horse.
See a trend here......the Obama's and the Clinton's tried to vacation in a lavish life style that they aspired to totally devoid of their lives prior to assuming office. Relying on the hospitality of rich donors. The rest continued as they did before becoming president. Trump is not likely to ever jump on a mountain bike or horse, swing an axe or body surf and he does drink beer. ( I have a six pack of Billy Beer somewhere. Probably would be just as good to drink now as it was then)

The first three were two term POTUS.

That same 'study' has been criticized repeatedly for variances in methods of counting between presidents - counting of weekends, the days leaving or returning, days working away from the White House, accounting for campaign trips, etc. There have been numerous threads on it. I'm surprised that Wikipedia even has this, and it certainly shouldn't be considered as a measure of anything.

...because it doesn’t align with your narrative? Any other POTUS spent time at a location that they owned and the Secret Service was billed for accommodations, transportation, etc?

I’m surprised you felt the need to post....:2wave:

I didn't google it...totally from memory. Correct me where I was wrong. Republicans and Carter went home. Obama's and Clinton's borrowed homes from the rich and famous at the Hamptons in Martha's Vineyard and out at out at Kailua, Oahu. Oh, forgot about the Clintons dancing out on a Caribbean beach for the fake news.....was that Einstein's beach or was it Weinstein's?

Let's rewind a bit. Most (if not all) Presidents golf. G.W. Bush liked to golf. He was criticized by hypocrites for golfing 'while our soldiers were at war'. (He took this very personally, and essentially stopped golfing). One of those hypocrites, Obama, became president, and was criticized by hypocrites for golfing. One of those hypocrites, Trump, became president, and was criticized by hypocrites for golfing. Since Bush took the criticisms to heart, golfing seems to be the punching bag. But newsflash! All politicians and their strong supporters are hypocrites to some extent!

Golfing really isn't the issue here - and it's a silly case to make. Presidents have different leisure activities - and we pay dearly for them. That's a part of being president. Trump has played more rounds of Golf. But Obama had a variety of other things he liked to do, and made more far-flung vacations.

But no doubt, both have cost us a lot of money. To focus on counting rounds of golf, and try to use that as a yardstick is silly.

Yes, all Presidents seem to have played golf. What does that have to do with Trump and his fans attacking Obama for spending a fraction of what Trump spends?

Trump was not criticized for golfing. He was criticized for his hypocrisy.

Trump was not criticized for golfing. He was criticized for his hypocrisy.

And Obama was not criticized for golf. He was criticized for being a black person.

Let's not pretend for one second that the "Obama plays golf" was anything but racist.

So in neither case is it about golf. It's about racism.

Einstein, Weinstein, what difference does it make?

The Hamptons also aren't in Martha's Vineyard. They're two different places. In any case, the Obama family rented a Martha’s Vineyard home in 2013. It wasn't "borrowed from the rich and famous," as you incorrectly stated. I'm sure you are equally as inaccurate about the Clintons.

Facts matter.

Not like Obama never golfed or took Hawaiian vacations, but what kind of hypocrite has no problem with that but flips out when Trump spends money. The real question is should the POTUS be wasting tax payer money. I only asked why would a first lady need a staff of 23 people? What is she, some kind of Queen who needs an entourage to beckon to her every whim?

Here is a fact for you. It should make a fiscal guy like you happy.
Trump's Lean White House 2018 Payroll On-Track To Save Taxpayers $22 Million
Trump's Lean White House 2018 Payroll On-Track To Save Taxpayers $22 Million

No one wants to work for Trump so they pass it off as "lean".

Just look at the turnover rate and the number of high level empty positions that need to be filled.

Still no director of Homeland Security or ICE but yeah he's SO tough on immigration.

ICE Leadership | ICE

LOL Five acting positions out of eight leadership roles - in what universe is that "winning"?

I am not sure it was racist. I think it was the right side of the room using anything to criticize a Democratic president. They criticized him for wearing a tan suit. Not presidential, they said. Now they accept their president using curse words in speeches.

They criticized Obama for not being patriotic, because he didn't were a flag-pin on this suit. Now, they accept #45 giving top secret intel to the Russians.

Republicans claimed Bill Clinton committed impeachable offenses by receiving a blow job in the White House. Now, they claim #45 using foreign policy as a personal tool isn't impeachable.

You can make excuses but it's clear as day. Trump, who claimed running for president that 'he'd be too busy to golf,' has golfed more than any other president at a huge cost to taxpayers.

The $22 million "saved" in White House staff is but a small fraction of what he spent on golfing trips. Moreover, it's not a savings to slash needed advisors. Those people are crucial to making sensible policy -- and it's probably a factor in why WH policy is so reckless.

Be sure.

It was "it's wrong for a black man to play golf".

Nothing more.
To be fair, even Michael Jordan looks goofy in golf attire.

How do they come up with those numbers? I imafgine they take the salaries of those who are with him and figure that as "extra" costs? amirite?

Right in the 2nd paragraph of the link:
Of that amount, many hundreds of thousands ― perhaps millions ― of dollars have gone into his own cash registers, as Secret Service agents, White House staff and other administration officials stay and eat at his hotels and golf courses.
The other point the article is making is that the more golf trips he makes, the more he gets to bill the government for staying at his own golf resorts. It's the definition of feather bedding. I could just imagine what Republicans would be saying if Obama or Clinton charged the government for room, board and food for Secret Service agents when they stayed at the Clinton or Obama's homes.

Are you being insightful?

Private golf courses were the last bastion of segregation in this country and, yes, even Jordan felt the bite of racism from them.

The criticism of Obama's golfing bore a horribly thin veil of economics. It wasn't a dog whistle. It was an open wail from the last stand of segregationists, private golf clubs. Their message was clear: Black people should not be playing golf.

I don't know. What kind of hypocrite is Trump and what kind of hypocrites are his supporters to complain about Obama golfing and then sitting back and smiling when Trump golfs far more than Obama ever did...

The kind who lack honor and integrity.

Actually, I was just trying to make a joke. But, there is a point you are making about racism and golfing. I don't see it here in NY. There are plenty of African Americans who take to the golf courses here without anyone batting an eye.
