Actually, I was just trying to make a joke. But, there is a point you are making about racism and golfing. I don't see it here in NY. There are plenty of African Americans who take to the golf courses here without anyone batting an eye.
Jordan, specifically, was scorned by racist private golf clubs. It was an example of wealth (and fame and universal adoration) not making escape from racism possible.
Your quip was unknowingly in that vein. "Even Jordan can't wear golf clothing." That became "even the President can't golf".
Make no mistake. That narrative drove the criticism.
