The left even ruins Netflix ratings system.

So nothing is worth looking at ratings? Almost everything out there has ratings on it, from movies, to products, to services, to food. Large groups of people generally can be fairly reliable to be accurate enough to be workable. That's how you get bell curves. It even works in deep intel analysis.

So You Think You're Smarter Than A CIA Agent : Parallels : NPR

Netflix's rating system was never meant for you to review the movie, it is to gauge whether you personally liked it or not so Netflix can or not recommenced similar things. It was never meant to be a Metactiric or Rotten Tomatoes. Netflix takes popularity into account but it is not the only factor because people have different preferences and Netflix wants to serve you things you PERSONALLY enjoy whether other people think it is bad or not. You are missing the point of it.

No way! It's liberals! There's no other explaination. Everything that happens in the world that I don't like is due to liberals. Those kids on my lawn over there....liberals! Firefly being canceled.....liberals! Walking Dead's season being so terrible and boring....liberals! Why I had to skip breakfast this morning.....liberals!
Now that you mention it, maybe Left-wing postmodernism had a lot to do with Fox reordering the chronology of Firefly, leading to its doom. ;)

Fox also screwed over Futurama in its first showing. Coincidence? Liberals!

I wonder how many of the people who walked out have posted about liberals being "snowflakes" and needed "safe spaces"....

Pretty pathetic that people are dumb enough to go to a show by a comedian whose political statements are on the left, then get butthurt when that comedian jokes about Trump or other asshats on the right. I saw the same thing at a Lewis Black show.

Too lazy to learn about who they're going to see and too thin-skinned to be able to weather a few jokes aimed at someone else they may have voted for.

At least they didn't dress up in black, wear face masks, and physically assault here in a mob and shut down the event for everyone. They just, you know, left to no participate in something they didn't like.

It's been switched to a thumbs up/down rating system.

The point of it is they already had a suggestions category and the star system, whether intended to or not, did act as a rating system. So they took away a data point and didn't replace said data point with anything else. Again, there was already a recommended category. Also, again, there's no way to gauge something that outside of your normal viewing habits now.

I don't see how this is complicated. Rating systems are well-established and work to a degree. Zero ratings system most definitely doesn't work, at all. It does nothing.

Because only the left assaults people.

Oh...you see the right playing dress up to go to other people's events to shut them down? Do tell.

The entirety of Netflix is a recommended category unless you search from something specific. The problem with the star system was not enough people used it but the thumbs up/down system actually gets people rating allowing recommendations to work better. I have no idea what I want to rate a show on a scale of 1-5 usually but I know if I liked a show or not.

We could develop an algorithm for that.

Rofl...there is no algorithm that could predict my care-o-meter levels.

And if they gave me the aggregate of said thumbs up/down, like Youtube does, then it wouldn't be a problem. They don't give you that. You get nothing. It's be like you eating a great desert with strawberries and giving it a thumbs up so I think bring you a pile of **** with a strawberry on top and saying it matches so you should like it.

Like I said the rating system is not to gauge if a show is good or not but to recommenced to certain people, the overall rating has an effect but it is not everything and Netflix's logic is if you see a show with a poor rating you will never watch it, even if its extremely similar to something you like. A poor rating is not the be all and all of recommending content.

I think Youtube and Twitter have been on the right track.

Let's all give this thread a zero star rating and see how the OP likes it.

Watching that show was so awful it made me want to commit suicide

No teenagers to talk to then, or are you one?
I have not seen it, but i do not have netflix. The reviews are two sided. Some like you say it will encourage teens to commit suicide because there is no positive portrayal while others say it is a good thing as it allows parents and teachers to talk about a subject that is normally treated as taboo.

But it does bring into question as well as to how we rate films. Simply describing it as adult viewing is misleading and giving it a star rating would be inappropriate.

Don't care. Get all your SJW buddies to put on the black outfits as well.

If they did, it would probably be a rating system then I'd be OK with it.

I didn't watch it but my wife did and she said it was pretty rough, emotionally. I think I'm similar with you on this as I have mixed feelings about it, especially with teen suicide on the rise. However, not talking about suicide doesn't really stop it from happening and you might actually miss your chance to intervene.

It's the left's fault because of alt-right trolls? Seriously, are the drugs you guys take legal because I want some. Aside from that obvious elephant, yes, the 5 star ratings on netflix were pretty accurate and one of the few ways to manage so many titles. I think this is a bigger trend though...netflix has to sell all content, good or bad, so maybe they figure this is just better for their content producers (including themselves).
