The election is over - act 2

Oh ... I misunderstood. So you actually believe the lackluster performance by Obama in debate 1 was a planned strategy and not an off night and that the Obama campaign is making the race seem close by manipulating national polls?

I think it looks like a close race ... with two good candidates. shrugs ...maybe i am naive.

No, no, you're not naive. It's all over the media, this is a performance. You demonstrate that you're paying attention if you buy into the narrative. It's hard not to buy into it.

Nobody, with the possible exception of myself, is omniscient. Obama didn't know exactly what was going to happen in debate one, but he knew it would be counterproductive to thrash Romney early and leave himself nowhere to go. Truly Romney knew this too. If you watch the first debate it's all circling. Romney "won" because he did more damage to Obama than Obama did to him. But that is what Obama wanted. It gave Obama someplace to go, and it made it so that Romney flamed out early.

You might google the State of Jefferson. It is nowhere near Virginia.

Shoot. I thought your location was a reference to Thomas Jefferson's state. I guess that explains the solid blue state part though cause VA is not. Well, on the plus side, being in California it only takes like $5 and 3 signatures to get something on the ballot so you guys should ban eminent domain except for in public projects too.

Don't forget about the millions that don't usually vote but will vote just because they want Obama booted...

Yeah go look at voter turnout.... Half the voting population doesn't even vote - now that those who didn't care before are hurt now - now they get all political.

I have several friends that never cared about politics but are now hell-bent on booting Obama - why? their lives suck - they believe Obama screwed them over, and I really cant blame them.

Those types of people are going to be massively outweighed by the mobilized base of Obama supporters who want their Obamacare and Obamaphones and all that good stuff.

I think it's dangerous to get caught up only listening to news you agree with. It's like only looking at the world with one eye, you have no depth perception. If you alternate between both liberal and conservative news, which allows you to have stereoscopic vision of politics. The liberal base is just as motivated if not more so than the conservative base. So that's not even the issue. The real election is won and lost with the independents, and they vote on gut instinct. They vote on who's better looking. They vote on whose style is better. They vote on completely superficial reasons, and they are deciding the fate of the country right now.

I would never live in California! The mythical State of Jefferson relates to Southern Oregon and Northern Cali. Right now I live in Portland, Oregon though yet have a place in the State of Jefferson as well.

My local issue is against the casinos and additional property taxes.

Yeah my guess is additional property tax will fail LOL.

Casinos in PDX. Interesting....not sure where I'd go on that one.

I just do not buy into your hypothesis that this is not a close race and the polls are manipulated by the Obama campaign.

I really think Obama was preoccupied and had an off night.

If anything was orchestrated it was to let Romney go on a tear and use his deceptions in campaign commercials. I kept thinking if I was making a political ad i would title Romney v. Romney and show his weekly positions against himself.

The only suspect part is repeatedly before Debate 1 the obama campaign said obama was just going to be polite and speak to the people. Obama is no idiot and when Romney tried to pull the death panel trick that sara palin did i was stunned that obama just let him go on a tear on such an obvious lie.

Anything is possible and while you could be right ... I honestly think it is a very close race and the polls reflect this. Do you think rasmussen is working for Obama? They always had Romney higher.

Once again here we are, little has changed since the first "election is over" thread. Romney's campaign for the most part has been a disaster; a secret tape, daily gaffe's, "evolving" message. The closest thing to a major shake up of the race was Obama forgetting to come to the first debate. Now that the second debate is over with Obama taking a win, things are once again looking completely hopeless for the R's. The swing states are for the most part locked down in Obama's favor.

Even if Romney has a strong performance in the last debate, it'll be too little too late. Unless there is an Obama disaster in the next few weeks, you nuts will have to wait for 2016.

Pre-emptive joke: FOUR YEARS OF OBAMA RESULTS HAVE BEEN A DISASTER OBAMABOTS

Obama has a brilliant campaign plan, it was to paint Mitt as Bush 2.0, and it work for the most part. I just wish Obama would of shown up for debate number one. Man this guy is slick.

Okay while you are thinking CT .... many conservatives thought McCain intentionally threw the 2008 election with Palin as the economy was in such a nosedive it would be nest to impossible to level and that the 2008-2012 POTUS would look like a failure no matter what.

Many thought it was a perfect trap for the first mixed race left leaning centrist to step into ...maybe it was yet he actually did something with the cesspool left to him.

I think that is why Obama looked pissed in Debate 2 ...he knows the mess left by the conservatives and Romney has the same advisors as Bush.

Yup, it's sad..... People just aren't informed. People just assume that everything will be fine....Sure they have an opinion about American Idol, but many couldn't tell you who was president in 1988...

All the media does is attempt to sway the individual into some sort of collective mode..... Every morning I wake up read the paper and laugh --- their bias is so obvious these days that the paper is comedic to me - everything to the media is political.

No they want to put casinos in the most pristine part of the state ... The State of Jefferson ... not Portland. I am voting against it. I detest such.

Portland is the city that works!

Orchestrated and manipulated are too strong terms, that is not what I am saying. This is a strategy, not a conspiracy. Obama is riding the campaign like a cowboy expertly riding a bucking bronco.

I'm telling you guys, debate one was all part of his plan.

I could destroy Obama in a debate any day of the week.....

I would love the opportunity to make Obama look like a clown - sometimes being right makes you look bad, but at the end of the day those "unpopular ideas" are those that will keep your utilities on. But Obama's focus is making sure everyone gets a candy bar instead of utilities... Obviously this is an analogy but it is cotton candy and not heat or a cell phone and not a job....

That's what he has produced - a bunch of sugar baby addicts clinching to the governments coattails.

Hmmm well I think you give the Obama campaign far more credit than I would. I just do not see it this way .. yet I will say ... your perspective was one of the more interesting on the board.

I still think it is a close race.

The odd part ... was Ryan during the VP debate. I was surprised he kept conceding the Obama administration got a raw deal and he either agreed with with the Obama admin or his plan was vague.

Romney as well ...he either agrees with the Obama admin or states a wish list with no actual plan. It is almost bizarre ...when you read the transcripts.

I do not know what to make of any of it yet to me it seems like a close race and anything could happen.

I watched the debate last night at a public place. I was alone and order a salad just because I felt I had to pay for place on their couch to watch the flat screen. I do not have a TV and wanted to watch people.

I am on the left coast so it was most left leaning and yet very quiet and every one hanging on every word of both men. it was a quiet and respectful group despite the normally lively setting.

Towards the end of the night a man came up and sat next me and we talked about politics and the debate. His perspective was along the lines of " You better vote as Obama could lose by all the confidence ... from his supporters."

At the end of the night he we exchanged contacts/ names ... I googled him when home and he has written 40 books, former marine and well respected local political pundit. He was a really cool guy yet he had the opposite to say and was siting polls in Florida.

You're not old enough to be president. But otherwise, I'd vote for you:thumbs:

Mr. Nick 2016!

Smart people fall victim to the talking points just as easily as anybody, perhaps even more so. It's just more fun to get caught up in the narrative than look at it objectively, I guess. People are very emotional, even smart ones.

Polls really mean nothing, there is nothing scientific about polls. Their methodology, even in the best polls, is a bunch of hogwash that tells us next to nothing. Even the experts in these fields have only the vaguest understanding of the numbers, which is telling. We have a dark age understanding of political science, anybody who says different is a snake oil salesman.

I do agree with that .... I just concluded a research study in health care and to make it statistically significant we went though scrutiny, numbers and fidelity of our methodology that was painstaking.

They never give the methodology for the polls.

Mr. Nick 2016!

If you support my ideas I support yours... :)

I think I'm going to run for something in 2016 (state, local).. It should be a fun experience hahaha. Why not?

Hopefully in 2016 I wont need to - that is what I hope.

It happens when I listen to Libertarians that have completely lost touch with reality.

How about false independents who hate liberty? Seriously, change it to "very liberal".

Obama does indeed have a campaign plan.... If Romney is elected, I wouldn't be surprised if Obama comes up with some "crisis" to put through martial law. Romney will win, but Obama is willing to commit a massive act of treason.

Please do, we need a good guy from Chicago... A voice of real change!

He could try it, but at this point, the adults would give him a 'time out'. Probably send him golfing.....in Hawaii.

There have been many excuses for the President's first performance. One excuse having been tossed around was the O2 excuse. Denver, is 5,280 ft/asl. I am certain that the crew operating VC25A, sets the ECS to maintain something near the 7,000 to 6,500 ft/asl level for the cabin, whenever it is carrying the POTUS. I am also fairly confident that the 747-2 series modifications for SAM28000 and SAM29000, do allow for higher pressure differentials which yield lower cabin altitudes. So, it would not surprise me, if the President arrived at the debate, having flown a cross-country flight at something closer to the elevation of Denver, prior to arrival. This is not a typical Boeing 747-2 series airframe.

Having said that, I believe the President, was setting this man up for a bigger failure. There were times during the first debate where Romney, was clearly deviating from his campaign trail rhetoric and the President, seemed to simply take notes while looking down. I think it was his way of not seeming like he was engaging, as a strategy. Some of the things said by Romney, during the first debate, were so inflammatory and destructive to his own candidacy, that all Obama, really had to do was simply let the man talk.

Romney, talked himself into hole during the first debate, and during the second debate, I think you saw the POTUS simply unleash a torrent of nails on virtually every single one of Romney's statements from the first debate, where it clearly made Romney, look rather small. Romney, thinking that his las strategy of running over the Moderator would work again, found himself being picked apart by his own contradictions on multiple occasions. All the POTUS had to do was bring those contradictions to light.

Romney, spent an entire week doubling-down and boasting about his accomplishments during the first debate. So, when that house of cards came crashing down in the second debate for Romney, you could see that he got a bit flustered and it made it look like Romney, was trying to hard to recover. Whether or not the President, should have used this multi-debate strategy is debatable in and of itself, but the poll numbers coming AFTER the second debate will provide a better picture.

On the Obamabot question - there is a special connection that this President has with his most staunch supporters that I have not witnessed before in Presidential politics. I hear more people shouting the words "We love you!" than I ever have when even Bill Clinton, was running for election and/or re-election. You hear this all the time wherever the POTUS goes. So, there are a LOT of people out there that feel "connected" to the President, in ways that you don't typically see in Presidential elections. So, the whole "Bot" thing just might be a bit of envy and jealousy. You have to put that into its proper context - when was the last time somebody yelled to George W. Bush: "We Love You!" It has happened - but with Obama, it is a regular and routine occurrence, virtually everywhere he goes with his core supporters.

They really do love the President, and I personally think that is what creates and drives the envy and jealousy that other politicians in opposition to Obama, often express. Most of them have been Career Politicians and probably never once had anybody tell them that they loved them from a crowd like that. It has to be demoralizing, if you are in opposition to the President, and you have been in the political sphere most of your adult life.

The other thing that you have to remember about such comments like that, is the fact that you have Career men like Newt Gingrich, who not only served in the Congress a lot longer than Obama, but also attempted to gain their party's nomination more times than Obama, and failed every single time. Up comes this "skinny kid from Chicago," who spends far less time in the Senate than his opponents seeking their party's nomination, and not only gets the Democrats to nominate him, but then goes on to actually win the White House, with core supporters screaming at the top of their lungs, "We Love You!"

Just think about how that makes all those Career Congressmen who could not even get their party to see them as being Presidential enough to nominate them for the job. It must be absolutely crushing for them to see this man sit in the White House. Added to that, is the clear fact that he's Black and you will create some VERY angry Congressmen on the other side of the aisle, who probably feel like Obama, got to the White House on an Affirmative Action "Scholarship" for Potential Black Presidential Candidates, and not on the strength of his intelligence, articulation, command of the facts, command of the situation, command and control of his campaign, and his ability to step-up his game when it is absolutely necessary and pull out a victory.

This is what Michael Jordan, used to always do. Joe Montana, did the exact same thing. And, this is the same kind of 4th quarter GOTO guy, that Obama, has become. He gets huge wins that people remember for a long time and he gets them against the odds. He's not a gambler, but he does take calculated risks when the risk/reward ratio warrants do so (Osama Bin Laden, as one example).

He's disciplined, typically remains in control and has a normal aspirated demeanor that does not get blown out of proportion in difficult situations. I remains calm when things are falling apart all around him and he thinks his way through situations to resolve the best possible solution, without allowing himself to get caught-up in the "drama" of the situation. He's stable, reliable, consistent and demonstrated himself to be trustworthy and he does not mind taking on the huge challenges when nobody else wants to. He keeps his head clear and his eyes looking forward and he maintains high situational awareness in times of crisis.

That's the kind of man, or woman I want in the White House. Steady. Solid. Stable. Consistent. Vision. Intelligent. Calm. Rational. Coherent. Committed to The People's best interest. Here's why I support the President's Re-Election:
