The shut down begins, if Trump does not do anything, such as sign a bad bill. How do you blame someone for something they don't do? The House will have done something, which is write a bill, they consciously know the President will not sign. It adds up to the Democrats doing this since they consciously did something, that makes causes a problem.

The analogy is Joes load the gun and give it to John to fire. John does not fire the gun. Later the gun goes off and injures someone. Is John responsible for not firing the gun. Or is Joes responsible for loading the gun?

Trump manned up the first time, and took the heat, for doing nothing. This time, the ones who loads the gun, knowing it will go off, will have to take the heat. Fake news can try to spin this, but the wall only cost less than 0.15% of the budget. This is small compared to the arty that is willing to tax at 70%. They will have loaded the gun in away that it will be designed to go off; sabotage. The America people will see this.

Trump would be responsible again. Between the first shutdown and a potential second one, nothing will have changed. Trump has continued to make no meaningful or consistent argument in favor of one, has still done no cost analysis of a wall, no serious studies have been done to examine an existing problem and how a wall would address it, has provided no consistent vision for what a wall would look like and randomly claims that we have a wall and that it's working one day and the next claim that billions of brown people are coming to rape and murder you because there's no wall.

Since day one he has approached this issue as unseriously as possible and the American people know it.

If Congress doesn't send a bill to the Oval Office, then there's no way it can be President Trump's fault.

Trump was WRONG when he said he would claim responsibility for the shutdown. Trump was WRONG when he said that Mexico would pay for the wall on the border. However, it is his responsibility to secure the nation's borders. The shutdown falls DIRECTLY on the Speaker of the House, who is responsible to see that the funding for the border is provided, which she failed to do.

A normal President would have already held a detailed press conference explaining exactly what he needs the 5.7 billion for including maps of existing barriers, areas where he wants to expand them, budgets for reinforcing the existing barriers, plans for improving the border security along the open areas, etc. It would have been easy for a President Obama to pull off but not Trump. He has no clue what he is going to do, what it will be spent on and is scared to death of being publicly humiliated for not knowing a thing about his ransom note. If you doubt me, watch Obama take on the entire GOP brain trust during that ACA conference. He owned them all.

There may be an agreement, but nothing has passed either the House or the Senate. Its possible that this bill will pass neither chamber. If that happens it likely will be seen as democrats fault.

I equate them to 'Flat Earth' societies that promote the misconception that the Earth is flat rather than a globe. You state that 65 percent of American citizens don't want to pay for the wall, which may be true, but you fail to state that upwards of 80 percent of those same American citizens claim that illegal immigration is a problem and upwards of 60 percent believe it's a serious problem. Like most things with the American public these days, people are conflicted in their own minds and don't know what they really believe.

This issue, as with many issues in America today, depends on your view of Donald Trump, nothing more and nothing less. The America people have been supporting politicians for decades who've been spending American taxpayer dollars on border security, including dollars to pay directly for a wall in many forms on your southern boarder and those dollars have never been an issue so much as they are now simply because Donald Trump says it's a priority for him and he claimed that Mexico would pay for it. Politicians stretch and evade inconvenient truths - who knew!!!

But the bottom line to your question is clear - the shutdown will be blamed on the Republicans generally and President Trump specifically. That is as it will be always - Democrats are the party of government, supporters of it in all it's many obese forms, and as such any time it is hindered in any way, the Republicans, supporters of limited government, will be blamed. The simple truth in this specific case, for me anyway, is that President Trump should have shut the government down while Republicans were running both houses of Congress and not waited until the Democrats took over. If he'd done it in the first two years of his mandate, he might have succeeded. Now, it's just politics, and because of that, he wears it.
