It's only in an effort to configure a bill that either (1) will obtain a veto-proof majority, or (2) that Trump will sign, is anyone still "dicking" around with the remainder of the 2019 appropriations. Remember, the GOP House and Senate -- unanimously, no less, in the Senate -- last year passed H.R.-695-2018 that funded the portion of the government that yet remains unfunded.

Not quite some members were absent or abstained. It got something like 94 or 96-0 but not a single republican voted against these bills.
 
Trump will be responsible.

He is currently in control of the Senate since Missing Mitch McConnell has abdicated his leadership of that august body when it comes to legislation that does or does not pay for Fat Donald's "big beautiful wall".

I kind of took the weekend off from Politics so I hadn't heard that President Donald Trump had signed into law legislation sponsored by Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez that the CBO had scored as costing America $45 Trillion.

Good for him!

A bold move!

Where would it be located?

What would it be made of?

How tall would it be?

How thick?

Who would build it?

Why do we need to "afford " his wall, regardless what AOC thinks, since President Donald Trump himself PROMISED TIME AND AGAIN that MEXICO would pay for his wall?

The shut down begins, if Trump does not do anything, such as sign a bad bill. How do you blame someone for something they don't do? The House will have done something, which is write a bill, they consciously know the President will not sign. It adds up to the Democrats doing this since they consciously did something, that makes causes a problem.

The analogy is Joes load the gun and give it to John to fire. John does not fire the gun. Later the gun goes off and injures someone. Is John responsible for not firing the gun. Or is Joes responsible for loading the gun?

Trump manned up the first time, and took the heat, for doing nothing. This time, the ones who loads the gun, knowing it will go off, will have to take the heat. Fake news can try to spin this, but the wall only cost less than 0.15% of the budget. This is small compared to the arty that is willing to tax at 70%. They will have loaded the gun in away that it will be designed to go off; sabotage. The America people will see this.

It is going to be difficult for Trump, Republicans, and their supporters to convince others that "Shutdown 2.0" is someone else's fault but Trump.

Sure, all the right wing commentary will blame Pelosi, Schumer, and Congressional Democrats just as they tried to do during the last shutdown. The message resonated with those audiences of course, but it did not do much to sway the opinion of others. Those audiences that listen to Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and the like were convinced this was all Democrats' fault before the midterms when Trump had a more favorable Congress than he has now. And that was after Trump said he would be proud to shutdown government over the wall (paraphrasing a bit there.)

We have no reason to assume another shutdown will play out differently for this political blame game.

Funding runs out Friday, the 15th.

Democrats have little reason to negotiate given sentiment on this issue, and how the majority of the nation looked at the previous shutdown. This has been aided by all the statistics that tend to favor continued "border security" but not necessarily Trump's "great great beautiful wall," the former being something we have spent more on in the past 5 years than the previous several decades.

In a way Trump painted himself into a corner on how he campaigned on this. The public will probably agree, as they did during the last shutdown.
 
If the government shuts down again, which I don't think is going to happen, it will be Trump's fault, just like it was the first time. Congressional republicans have been pretty outspoken that they don't want another shutdown and are open to working with Democrats to find some sort of solution, even one that doesn't necessarily include funding for Trump's wall.

All of the above. This problem goes back to March of 2018 when the congress is directed by law to pass a budget and regular appropriations. Since this hasnt happened in about a decade, we keep getting continuing resolutions which expire.

And yeah, the tax payers should pay for border security. Its the purpose of the union to protect the states and citizens from invaders. If 75% of actual citizens dont want border security they should amend the constitution, or better yet, separate their states and have open borders.

Just because we pay for the wall now doesn't mean that Mexico won't pay for it later. Trump recognizes that the wall is one of several important steps in securing our border.

I equate them to 'Flat Earth' societies that promote the misconception that the Earth is flat rather than a globe. We can give them scientific proof that it's not flat and even show them live feeds directly from the International Space Station but they'll shake their heads and say 'nope that's fake, the Earth is flat.'

If they pass a CR along to avoid a shut down, it is really hard to argue that that is a “bad” bill.

The President shutting down the Government again is a losing game.

Trump sold you a bill of goods that he won't deliver.

He never campaign promised "Mexico will pay for it later".

He just didn't.

Let him go to Mexico and get the money NOW!

He has no clue what real "border security" is or entails except as a Twitter or rally phrase to gin up his ignorant base.
