Science and Religion, a comparative study [W:222]

Sin is a religious fiction. It might even be a specifically Christian concept. People still get sick, grow old, and die because it's natural to do so.

Really? Then why hasn't science explained that? Why hasn't science been able to stop aging and dying? Our bodies are made to last forever, our brains have the capacity to hold countless information...scientists don't understand the aging process or why it happens...why?

And no, it is not natural...we all have the desire to live because we were created that way...

It, sin, is an idea that exists in other religions but as far as I know only Christians say we were born in sin. Original sin, we all carry guilt from the Garden of Eden, and only Christ the Redeemer can absolve us of that original sin. Only Christians would say a new-born baby needs redemption and the only route to redemption is through Christ.

Our bodies are made of the same things every other animal's body is made of, and it's not meant to last forever. You're meat, and whatever you think about your soul has nothing to do with the inevitable decay that will happen to your meat body.
Besides, would you want to live forever? Deny yourself heaven?

I aim to transmit understanding, you don't seem to be receiving.
All I'm receiving from you so far is a lot of militant atheistic static. Try adjusting your aim. Or acquiring the understanding you wish to transmit. ;)

The thread topic is SCIENCE and RELIGION, ladies and gentlemen. :)

I want to live right here on the earth, as God purposed when he created Adam and Eve...

"But the meek will possess the earth,
And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.
The righteous will possess the earth,
And they will live forever on it." Psalm 37:11,29

That won't happen until the wicked have all been dealt with. In the mean time, you will die.

Ok...I'm not afraid of dying...I have faith in the resurrection...

Not true...there is plenty of evidence even though some only like to deny it...like creation itself...

That is the logical fallacy known as 'begging the question'.

If it's hard wired into the brain then why are there so many atheists?

Why are even among very educated and intelligent scientists that there are believers??

Ok...I'm not afraid of dying...I have faith in the resurrection...

There you go. So it's working for you.
Vaya con Dios.

People still get sick, grow old, and die...that will never change as long as there is sin...

What evidence that sin is involved?? How is that not that the logical fallacy of 'argument from personal belief?'

Please show evidence that our bodies are made to last forever. Please show evidence that our brain has the capacity to hold 'countless information'. Bible quotes woudl be considered 'an unsupported claim'

Ummmm I took biology in school, didn't you? Our cells continue to renew themselves, yet our bodies age and die...what lies at the root of cellular aging...scientists have long wondered why but all they have is theories at best...just one small paragraph from this article...

Even in a 70-year-old brain cell, most organelles will be no more than a few weeks old. But the one exception to this continuing renewal is the brown, indigestible debris that accumulates in the lysosomes. Cell biologists call it lipofuscin.

And how does that say out bodies are made to last forever?? Please be specific.

I will point out a 'microbe' is not a body. it is a single cell.

The fact that scientists can't figure out why we grow old and die when our cells continually renew themselves is the answer in itself...use your power of reason for petes sakes...

I see / . You say that because of an old newspaper article that wasn't written by a scientist. What controls how long a cell can reproduce is known as a 'telomere'. They get shorter every time our cells divides, and once the telomeres are gone, the cell can't reproduce anymore.

And why does that happen...lemme answer for you...they don't know nor can they figure out a reason for it...

No I'm not...that explains WHAT happens...not WHY...

It seems you are looking for a metaphysical answer that , basically is to a meaningless question.

If science is the be all and end all it should have the answer to a perfectly legitimate question...
