Saudi Arabia Shuts Down About Half Its Oil Output After Drone Strikes

In a technical sense we are and a war in Saudi Arabia with the following high oil price would be great for oil producers in friendly western nations like Canada, Norway, Brazil, etc but it would be awful for the global economy.

The US is Now the Largest Oil and Gas Producer in the World. 61% of all new global production is likely to come from the United States. But that does not mean the oil companies here will not use the Saudi problem to raise the cost to us, as they say, never let a good crisis go to waste.

I don't see the Saudi's getting involved, all those military items and all the arms they bought from us are just rich man toys to show off with. When it comes to the down and dirty they will ask us to step in for them.

We are a Joe Palooka punching bag disrespected by Saudi and Iran, Iraq, ISIS, the Taliban and the Houthi Rebels in Yemen. They just keep whacking us each in turn. Eventually Beni tries to pump a little air back into our Joe Palooka but then its back to getting whacked left and right, up and down again. The only place that is relatively quiet at the moment is Syria where Putin and Asaad probably don't see any advantage to them in piling on at the moment.

Can it be that in some ways we are getting smacked around from both sides of the proxy war in Yemen?

Oh yea....can't you just feel the respect for the US in the region? Its getting to the point where it is looking like we have done worse in the region than the UK did in a much earlier era. Hard to believe we have sunk that low. But hard to ignore as well.

Smooth DonDon....real smooth.

we are perilously close to ceding any position of merit in the Middle East and South and Central Asia with Israel the only country not bouncing jabs off our brow. But then Israel does not have any oil, now does it!

In a technical sense you are nowhere close to energy independence. In 2018 the US was importing 10 billion barrels of petroleum every day from over 80 countries.

None of which justifies supporting Saudi in its proxy war in Yemen. None of which justifies the rank ignorance and stupidity of the current administration in its Middle East and South and Central Asia shoot from the hip scattershot policies.

Lets take Pompeo's lurch to "Iran is responsible" immediate knee jerk on the oil field drone attacks. That was a lurch from Pompeo. We can say in these pages that its Iran if we want to and we can likely be confident that Iran at least played a training role here. But we don't even know where the drones originated from. The government CAN'T act like some forum poster!!!! They have to connect the dots and if they can't .....SHUT UP until they can.

This also points out how stupid it is to be puffing out our chests like we can simply go it alone everywhere when we can't. Who had eyes on this....apparently nobody. Do the five eyes countries even share intel with us any longer? Who knows....doubt it. Probably won't again until the Orange Wild Man is out of the WH.

In addition, if Iran did play a training role, how many despot run militaries have we trained up over the decades? We just look stupid and hypocritical here which is why no foreign power has come out to support Pompeo's statement. Bebi will probably come out and say something in support.....Whoopdie-ding-dong. Bebi likes it. What a joke we are.

Yes, as regards training despots one has only to check the alumni of the now defunct School of the Americas at Fort Benning. And conservatives are whining about human rights abuses in other countries while the US trains them...

wouldn't be surprised if the Saudis blew it up themselves to make money. Replace oil in the next twenty years so we no longer have to give a **** about idiotic dictatorships / Tweety's Russian handlers. fossil fuels are the root of a lot of humanity's problems. stupidity and tribalism are the rest of it.

i'm not convinced that gasoline won't go extinct on its own before we totally run out of oil. there's a lot of money to be made in replacing it, and burning ****loads of it is destroying the environment. also, we have never been visited by space aliens, and it seems likely that we never will.

That is not at all far fetched. Given drone range limitations the most logical origin for the flights is ......somewhere within Saudi. Now that does not mean Saudi's were at the controls. Could have been done by Yemenis or others. Might also explain why nobody had eyes on to an air border crossing.

That should shake a few people up here and there!

The saudis likely did not do it, the houthis have claimed it and they have been open about it since the start of the yemen war, and saudi arabia is at war with yemen. The houthis prioritize bases for aircraft and oil production as their prime targets, and have made it no secret, oil funds the saudis and airports are also used by the saudi military to launch airstikes rather than just military bases.

The truth is saudi is already inching towards broke with oil prices dropping, and has been losing a war using the best equipment money can buy to barefoot rebels with no money and whatever gear they can aquire of take from battle.
