Nfl 2019

Garrett clearly should not have whacked the guy with the hat. But, common sense dictates that something set him off. Those images suggest what it may have been.

Sometime this week the NFL will fine 8-10 players for that fight, and I'm sure Rudolph will be one of the players fined.

That said in every football game there are pushing and shoving after plays all the time. Offensive players often take exception to how a defensive player tackled them, that happens all the time. Taking a helmet and hitting another player with that helmet has never happened before.

BTW another Sunday of football and I saw 3-4 OBVIOUS pass inference plays that were NOT called on the field, OR in NY..

Why have that stupid PI rule? Even when it's obvious PI and missed on the field it's never overturned. The coaches asking for a review are wasting their time outs.

Jets got one overturned against the Redskins.

I missed that one. I wasn't under any circumstance going to watch Jets vs. Redskins.. Lol.. 1pm games I mostly watched Vikings vs Broncos. Which actually turned out to be a pretty good game.

1 of the worse nonPI calls was in the Vikings /Broncos game.

Boswell's column today says the unthinkable has happened: the Redskins have lost DC.

Determining what qualifies as a catch is a hot topic. Yes, there has been some very bad calls this year that makes one shake their head.

But giving a little credit here to the refs. The camera coverage of games is so much better now than just 20 yrs ago. We TV viewers are able to have a view that is extremely better than anyone on the field. So the viewer has a microscopic view of that player while the ref has a view on the ground amid a herd of running buffalo. When you go stand on the sidelines the game looks far different than those watching on a big screen tv.

That is true. I guess most refs try to honestly do the best they can, and we fans are kind of spoiled with the ultra HD image on our large screen TVs from multiple angles and slow motion. But there are some weird things that freak me out: how Green Bay for example is always getting all the calls at Lambeau Field. It does feel biased, at times, even for a neutral observer. That Carolina at Green Bay game, not only the refs failed to grant us our legitimate TD at the end, but also they granted 10 unwarranted points to Green Bay earlier on. So, I said at the time, going to face the Packers and Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau Field by cold weather is hard enough, but if we also have to beat the refs, that's more like an impossible task.

No excuse, the Panthers suck and we deservedly won't make the playoffs, but I feel like at least we should have won that game, and I wonder why the league and its refereeing corps seem to love Green Bay so much.

... braved the elements that New Year's Eve and watched in awe as the Packers claimed their third consecutive NFL title, with a 21-17 victory. ice-bowl-2-650.

Before the start of the game they made a point about how much better the field is compared to last year when they had to cancel the game in Mexico City because the field was a disaster..

So far the field tonight don't look so good. HUGE divets everywhere..

I DVR'd the Monday Night Football game, and watched it now. Jesus, Philip Rivers sucks! He completely lost his former decent quality. He should quit while he is behind...

Anyway, I never liked the guy, always found him arrogant, and prone to throwing his own teammates under the bus. Not to forget, he is nuts. He fathered no fewer than 9 children with his wife. Poor wife...

I'm not fond of the Chargers. On the other hand, I like the Chiefs, and Mahomes, so, I liked the fact that the Chargers were unable to score in that last possession.

What is wrong with having many children? Obviously he has the money to take care of all of them.

There is nothing wrong with having 9 kids.

Is he a quiver nut?

Rudolph is a Trump fan so you never know...;)

The Steelers have a history of racy Qbs.

Remember, Big Ben is a big trump supporter and even tried to sexually assault Stormy Daniels.

It is no surprise these Steelers are big fans of Trump. The Steelers organization runs very much like the Trump administration. Lots of nepotism.

Brady and Kraft are also big Trump guys

NFL finds no evidence of Rudolph using a racial slur. No microphones picked up a slur.. No refs or players on the field heard anything.

And many Brown players said they never heard or knew about any talk of a slur all week, until it came out yesterday after the appeal hearing.

Garrett seemed upset and contrite after this happened last week. He admitted he was wrong. I thought he was going to take the high road, do his suspension, keep his mouth shut and be reinstated early next season..

Now? Who knows.

I suspect the "slur" idea came after the fact....like a week after the fact. Funny thing about these things, though. By now, he probably believes he heard one.

Has anyone watched All or Nothing, the NFL series on Amazon? I'm curious as its compared to HBO Hard Knocks.

Good payday for the NFL...

NFL Fines 33 Players and Both Teams in Browns-Steelers Altercation, Totaling $732,422,,

Saturday morning, it was revealed that quarterback Mason Rudolph had been fined for his role in the brawl between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. Hours later, the league revealed that they had finished handing out punishments for this incident. In total, the NFL fined 33 players for their actions on Nov. 14, totaling $732,422.

Shortly after the game between these AFC North rivals, it was revealed that each franchise had been docked $250,000, accounting for $500K of the total number. However, sources had told NFL insider Ian Rapoport that 10 other figures would be fined for their actions. This ultimately turned into a very modest estimate considering that the league listed triple that amount on the official breakdown of fines.

The biggest amounts among these punishments belonged to Rudolph ($50K), Myles Garrett ($45,623), and Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey ($35,096). Garrett also received an indefinite suspension while Pouncey was handed a two-game ban after his appeal reduced it from three. Browns defender Larry Ogunjobi was suspended for one game, but his fine was removed upon appeal.

Apart from the big names on the list, the NFL only fined the rest of the players for minor infractions. 30 players – 10 from the Browns – were all given a $3,507 fine for entering the fight area. This is the amount given to first-time offenders. If any of these players had taken part in the altercation, they would have been fined $7,017.

The NFL wanted to make a point following this incident during the Browns victory, and handing out 33 fines to the players, as well as those to the franchises, is certainly in pursuit of that goal. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell even said that the suspensions of Garrett, Pouncey, and Ogunjobi were meant to send a very clear message about how these actions are not allowed in the NFL.

Will these fines serve as a deterrent to future incidents between these two teams? That answer is unknown, but it will be provided shortly. The Browns and Steelers will face off once again a week from Sunday. Although Pouncey and Garrett will both be absent from the game while serving out their respective suspensions.

In order to avoid any potential added drama, the league opted to move the kickoff time of this battle up to 1:00 p.m. ET. The Browns and Steelers were originally scheduled for a late afternoon kickoff, but the league flexed it to an earlier time.
