There is every question that the President did nothing wrong.
A political witch hunt, and the obsession to negate the will of 63 million Americans, is not grounds for removal of a President from office.
What will be your position when Republicans have the majority in the House, and seek to remove a Democrat President from office, simply because they don't like them?
No there isn’t.
Indeed, the GOP in Congress made no effort to defend Trump’s actions in any way.
They made two principal objections.
One, was the noise they made by claiming that there are no “fact” witnesses. Which is easily fixed, because Trump is trying to get away with hiding them. Of course, you, and the rest of the Trumpsters run away when that obvious fact is pointed out to you.
The other is all process, something the GOP has tried to gum up or utilize for grandstanding from day one.
No one has mounted a defense of Trump’s disloyal and unAmerican behavior.
Trying to enlist another country in smearing a political opponant is selling the influence of your office to a foreign power. Something that Trump did as a candidate.
As soon as he though he had skated by the Mueller Report, he went out and did it again.
The next time he will double down and do it right out in the open, daring anyone to do their Constitutional duty.
The other fake objection is that Ukraine got the aid (at least most of it).
But the evidence clearly shows that the only reason they did was because Trump got caught. His behavior telegraphs it. So does the sequence of events that we know about so far.
We also know that the money that pays Guliani to be Trump “pro bono” television lawyer came from Dimitri Firtash, who got it from Putin.
Everyone’s working for Putin. All of Trump’s little band of Ukranian “investigators”, and the whole scheme to prevent appropriated Congressional money from going to Ukraine as Congress intended.
Of course, this is coming on the heels of Trump’s fake emergency declaration regarding the wall, so he could steal money already appropriated for other purposes. The courts have that scheme in hand right now.
As for your last question, that will depend on the circumstances.
But then, you don’t see anyone other than Trump and his mob threatening to make impeachment a permanent political process.
Just like the predictions of civil war, only the reactionary right wing seems to embrace that fantasy.
