Major League Baseball 2019

Sorry, you lost me.

Scherzer singles to lead off a 3-run 3rd inning. Phillies and Nationals both heading for 0.500, for opposite reasons. Parity has 13 NL teams in the hunt, compared to ten in the AL.

Yes, and . . . ?

Including tonight, you have 6 games against MIA, 3 against DET, and 3 against KC. That should easily put you over 0.500 by the ASB.

Another great outing for Max, 5 straight. Rojas ejected :lamo though home plate seems to be off around MLB.

Let's play two!

They're only 7 games back. Thats fortuitous for a .500 team. The NL is weak (except for the NL west of course).

After a horrendous start, Nats have climbed back to .500.

Both Western Divisions are strong, but the NL is 17 games over 0.500 due to IL play. You don’t want to play the Nationals right now. All 4 starters are strong to very hot right now and they’re scoring runs. They have DET, MIA and KC before the ASB. :lamo

Their BP is their only problem, which I assume they’ll address before the firm trade deadline of 7/31. On trades, I expect to see action early, possibly over the ASB. mlb.com shows you 1-3 against the AL, with 16 games to go against the AL, including BOS, NYY, TB and LAA.

Mets officially have the worst bullpen in baseball, maybe of all-time. 20 blown saves. Current 5 game losing streak. All 5 games they had the lead after 6. All 5 games the BP blew the lead, and the game.

Diaz is 1-5 with a 5 ERA.

Funny thing is personally I can't blame the brass. They went out and spent money and got the players. But None of them, and I mean NONE of them have done their jobs. BP has blown 8-3 leads. 5-1 leads. No lead is safe.

The bad teams this year are indeed absolutely horrible. Orioles are 30 games out...and, it's not even July yet.

Royals are 25 out; Giants, 20. Hell, makes the Reds look down right competitive in last place at "only" 6.5 behind the Cubs.

Sad thing with the Mets is lately their starters are pitching good.. And all year their position players have been damn good.. They're scoring runs, getting leads... But once the 7th inning comes along, there isn't a single reliever they can count on.

But in todays game if the team doesn't have a BP, they have no chance... By July 1st the Mets will be dead and gone for the year. And it's 98% the fault of the BP, which sucks big time.

The starters pitch their ass off, the offense scores run, then the BP blows the game... Their clubhouse must be a lot of fun lately...lol

Middle relief is usually something teams skimp on. Reds have had that problem for years.

Lots of teams have had that problem.. But this year the Mets 'problem' extends throughout their whole BP, including closer.. Which is a surprise to everyone. But Diaz wouldn't be the 1st player who came to NYC and flopped. Every NYC sports teams has a story on 'can't miss players' who missed because they couldn't handle NYC. Mets had a 3-1 lead last night in the 9th, Diaz gives up 5 runs and it's a 6-3 loss.

I'm not saying that's Diaz's problem, I have no idea. But he's gone from the best closer in baseball to a 1-5, 5.00 ERA mess.. so something is up.. Add in Familia, Lugo who use to be very good, Gsellman, another sure thing who no longer is... There is no one they can go to anymore for a sure win.. No matter what kind of lead they have.

The loss of Thor for a while longer can’t be underestimated, though every team has had these injury problems. I’d put a #5 in his place in the rotation, even an opener to shake up the relievers, and not mess up the other four. Those four starters simply need to go longer.

You could bring up starters from the minors that teams haven’t seen for this 10-game sprint to the ASB, and a while afterwards, and use them as piggybackers, relieving the relievers. Who knows what you’ll find?

Your next 8 games in this 10-day stretch are against ATL, NYY, and PHL, no easy task. After the ASB, you have a reasonable stretch until 8/9, when you get the Nats and Braves. You do have those stupid two days off next week with the 2-game series with NYY. NYY is off today, for the UK series.

Stunning Stat, Reds team ERA is right behind the Rays and Dodgers. But, yet last place team. WTF?

Their run differential is also very good, which points to their problem, record in one-run and close games. They had a very good June last year also, but fell apart during this stretch to the ASB. We’ll see if they can keep beating the Cubs this weekend, who now have a difference-maker in Kimbrel.

Winston Churchill, Freddie Mercury, King Henry VIII and the Loch Ness Monster will race around the warning track at London Stadium. The four were chosen by fans who voted on four categories of notable Brits -- cultural icons, legends, historical figures and monarchs.

We will race you -- Mercury an MLB UK mascot

My money is on Freddie. His costume should be the lightest!

They made a mistake by giving Votto a 10-year contract. That's something a team like the Rays or A's would never do.

Takes up too much of the Reds salary and is not even an elite player. Could have traded him for a lot of good prospects.

Syndergaard only missed a couple of starts. And again, even when he's pitched well the BP has blown games... IIRC the 8-3 lead the BP blew was a Sydergaard start.. Very few starters are going to go more than 7 innings. 20 blown saves by the Met BP says it all.

The NL East isn't good, but with the Mets falling 10+ games out by July, and the Nats playing better, and the Braves and Phils being good teams, the 10 game deficit with the worst BP in baseball will be too big of a hill to climb.

BP's are crap shoot.. The Mets tried to fix their BP during the off-season, but the came up snake eyes..

Probably more like 5 or 6 years, in hindsight. The order of their lineup has not had consistent chemistry all year. I actually follow them. Votto has looked lost in the #2 slot, his swing like awkward jabs. He needs to bat 3rd/4th, especially as one of their marquee guys.

Lots of hot and cold players on that team. Starting pitching is solid through 5 innings only, for all five starters. Fun to watch on defense. Suarez is worth coming to the game if you live there. And Puig.

They’re keeping his hamstring under wraps. Bring him back after the ASB. Enjoy the games of your team as a National League fan. Nothing personal, since the Sox are my team. They’re not bad anymore, but they’re not good yet either.

The NL EAST is better now compared to earlier in the year, from 23 to 8 games under. Aren’t stats grand. Strong pitching wins. Even Miami has great young talent.

That means he’ll pitch the following Sat/Sun also, and for sure the weekend after the ASB. Good set up for 3 quick wins for him. Lots of options again.

Because of the current state of the Mets BP I do not share your opinion that he'll get 3 quick wins in his next 3 starts... As I pointed out IIRC a couple of starts ago he left with an 8-3 lead, and got a ND because the BP blew the lead and the game..
