BTW.... I mention Murphy looks fat and we end up getting into a discussion about the defensive positions in baseball.

Did you see the backswing that just hit the home plate umpire? This is Corbin’s 3rd straight bad outing and you guys are 13-4 in this stretch. His slider’s terrible.

Not really sure what to make of the Edwin Encarnacion trade.

The Yankees don't really need another right-handed power bat. This may be a sign they are getting ready to trade Clint Frazier.. maybe to the Blue Jays for Marcus Stroman?

Adbert Alzolay from AAA may be replacing Kyle Hendricks after they jump the 5th starter through one rotation due to their upcoming schedule. Your other four starters are good enough.

Cubs can’t get Kimbrel soon enough. Colome has been great for the Sox. Sox need at least one more starter to make a serious run at Texas/Boston/CLE for the 2nd wild-card.

Most impressively he’s doing it on the face of a pretty stiff wind.

It’s nice to watch a Cubs game with Steve Stone doing color. I miss that guy so much.

Stoney is great. Lester’s getting the ‘off the plate’ Glavine call tonight. Umps are shaky. Game's already gone over the over/under of 7 in 3.5.

You need your 5th starter to come through and we need at least a 5th starter, maybe a 4th. Not many off-days after the ASB until the firm trading deadline.

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (CNN)More than a week after David Ortiz was shot as part of what police have called a murder-for-hire plot, authorities in the Dominican Republic now say the former Red Sox star was not the intended target.

Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez Sanchez told reporters Wednesday that a friend of Ortiz -- who shared a table with him at a patio bar in Santo Domingo -- was the target of the bungled hit.
The suspected gunman was only sent a blurry photo of the friend identified as Sixto David Fernandez, who was wearing clothes similar to Ortiz that night, prosecutors and police said. Authorities said the lighting made the shooter confuse one for the other.
While police said the alleged shooter confused Ortiz with Fernandez because they were dressed similarly, the men have different physical appearances.
Ortiz is 6'3 and 250 pounds, according to the Red Sox, and is one of the Dominican Republic's most recognizable celebrities.
"The fact that David Ortiz wasn't the target doesn't change anything," Rodriguez Sanchez said. "The law is the same for everybody."

19 games is too many against divisional opponents. An average of 6.6 games against the other 10 teams in your league is not enough. MLB seems stuck on these 2 by 2 IL rival series.

Travel is certainly an issue, especially for the western and eastern divisions. New rules next year will change the reliever part of the game.

I see the trades starting over the ASB through July 31st. Most teams only have one day off in those 3 weeks, and those needing starting pitching may start the trade cycle early.
