Indonesian men caned for gay sex in Aceh

He's referring to the American Christians that lobbied Uganda for the Anti-Homosexuality Act (2014).

"Same-sex relationships have been illegal in Uganda since British colonial rule – as they are in many African countries – and before this Act was passed, they were punishable by incarceration in prison for up to 14 years. The Act was introduced as a private member's bill by Member of Parliament (MP) David Bahati on 14 October 2009. A special motion to introduce the bill was passed a month after a two-day conference was held in which three Christians from the United States asserted that homosexuality is a direct threat to the cohesion of African families."

Christianity has a long terrible history of persecuting homosexuals that continues to this day in places such as africa and russia. Religion is inspired by ancient books that aren't about to change. I could just as easily make a thread of brutality in russia and say "religion of peace, christian orthodoxy, strikes again. There's only one religion that "conservatives" will make excuses for"

you all give yourselves away so badly. You don't give a damn about the plight of gay men in indonesia or saudi (why don't you go condemn trump for his deal with the devil?). You just want any opportunity to lay into muslims and liberals, two groups that obviously have nothing in common. Hence why you can't go one post after an atrocity without taking advantage

if it weren't for this crap we just respond "That's terrible, ALL religion that inspires violence is terrible"

actually indonesia was a model for 'moderate' islam but is only recently falling to the abyss

and you have to be trolling to claim that shar'ia law, as in Aceh, isn't steeped in conservatism. Like how is bragging "i'm a woman of the 8th century" NOT conservatism?

Those laws were not repealed in the UK until 1969.

And evangelical bigots who oppose SSM, do not want to issue marriage certificates, refuse to make cakes, would force women and little girls too, to remain pregnant, etc. etc.

It's a stupid comparison. a sick one actually. so because ones beliefs that they don't think SSM should be allowed, they choose in thier own private business to refuse service (which is douchey but should be thier right) to a gay couple. That is the equivelent to a religious theocracy where they stone gays and make rape victims marry thier attackers. Your position is sick. and it's just an excuse to not see Islam for what it is.. TO make excuses for the barbaric treatment of gays.

You should be more concerned about civil rights for gays than for protecting oppressive islamic regimes. bro.

The Left trivializes these very serious violations of human rights by comparing imprisonment and public beatings to playground teasing.
