In a dramatic shift, most Republicans now oppose same-sex marriage

How so? SSM is "equal treatment under the law." When you describe gay marriage, then trans people so crudely, how about remembering all the cheating, divorces, domestic abuses, child abuse that has always existed within straight marriage?
With all the problems with heterosexual marriage, one is simply compounding the issues when adding "gay" into the mix.

Gay men could make good fathers, and likely good husbands if they worked at it. Marriage is work.

Exactly the same for straight couples
Lesbians may have been abused by some guy, or it maybe a women's lib thing... I think many eventually find a man if they are young. If old, they had a man.

Just more convenient, unfounded, agenda-based speculation. And it doesnt matter...there's nothing wrong with being a lesbian either.

Explain how? Give examples. Their only disadvantages are those imposed on them by society...not their orientation.

Correcting an impediment or taking medication to help heal an illness, is a far cry from butchering original healthy body parts because one wishes to be somehow different but never entirely achieving the goal.

I guess same argument applies to outlawing any king of tatoos or having earing or any piercings.

Why is it of your business what people want to do with their bodies?

If just an observation of the obvious. You do realize that such medical procedures are presently covered by healthcare insurance, and as such it raises the general cost of healthcare for everyone else? Federal and state laws prohibit discrimination against transgender individuals by most public and private insurance health plans. This means insurance companies must cover transition-related care that's medically necessary and it is illegal for them to deny coverage, in most cases. So, you and I are helping to pay for such choices of others. How would you like contributing to the tithe of the church I attend? I go for spiritual healing...

If you go to church for spiritual healing, it's not working.

I have to pay to subsidize the healthcare of pregnant women who choose to have a kid...her bills for her labor, hospital stays, meds, etc. Why should I have to pay for her choice to have a kid? Or the tax incentives for maternity and paternity leaves?

Yeah the temporarily discarded Leviticus for 10 years and said oh wait remember.

It has nothing to do with people using gay marriage in the Goodwill that gay people have gotten over the years to try and transition kids.

Just wait

After the trans are shoved back, gay men will be called pedophiles again, accused of supporting nambla.

Heck that was just 25 or so years ago. Soon coming to a street near you

I'm glad I don't live with this persecution complex. Nobody's trying to push back trans people. You just not allowed to convince your 9 year old that they're trans and then give them gender affirming care

No trans nine year olds good that's a good thing.

Considering the number of transgender people willing to put their bodies through this, I am not worried at all. We pay orders of magnitude more for all the idiot redheads refusing vaccines and then requiring a lot more care. Or how about all the smokers / vaper users - maybe we should outlaw that?! Or those eating cheeseburgers.

1.)This is how you admit that you dont understand how insurance pools function. Trans people are paying into the insurance fund, so naturally their medical needs have to be covered equally with the medical needs of everyone else who is part of the pool. You are not paying for your needs and that of anyone else.

2.) Being transgender is not a choice any more than having diabetes or cancer is a choice.

3.) I don't have imaginary friends so I don't tithe to any church.

A baby is a natural process and a whole lot cheaper.

The numbers are growing because its now a fad and someone else will pay for it.

A baby costs a lot of money to raise. Birth control is 100x cheaper.
The numbers are growing because its now a fad and someone else will pay for it.
The numbers of trans are the same at about 1.5%. Who is telling you otherwise? Younger people are much less likely to remain closeted than older people were.

The medical and hospital stuff? No. And you didnt answer the question...why should we pay for their choice to have a kid?
Because one regards a new life, care, and love, while the other is about expectation, attention, and vanity. One needs the assistance of medical experts to protect life --- while the other needs psychiatric help coupled with spiritual guidance and nothing more to continue living.

Marriage is a legal contract between two people. No more, no less. Whom those two people are doesn’t matter to me at all, as long as both are of an age to be able to consent to entering into and understanding the bounds of that contract.
How would you like contributing to the tithe of the church I attend? I go for spiritual healing
Churches are tax exempt, so everyone in society helps support them by the fact that they exist without paying into the common pool of money used to sustain the community around them.

Babies are expensive. Having a baby is expensive. Raising a baby into an adult is ridiculously expensive.

GOD formulated marriage as to be between a husband and a wife only. If two men or two women wish to form a compact ---- let them sign a binding legal contract. However, the STATE was no right to interfere in what constitutes marriage. That is for GOD and HIS church alone. GOD will not be mocked.

Most nonprofit hospitals in the US are exempt from federal, state, and local taxes, in exchange for providing community benefits. The same goes for fire departments. The pastor and other paid church workers pay TAX. as well as, do all hospital staff and firemen. Churches hopefully provide the sort of training that ultimately provides better citizens who show a real concern for their neighbors and community at large.

Babies are expensive. Having a baby is expensive. Raising a baby into an adult is ridiculously expensive.
Tattoos are expensive, body jewelry is expensive, and being operated on to change one's looks is very expensive ---- but I don't see how many of that improves the welfare of any community at large. It's all rather self-serving.

What God? Whose flavor?

And since when does that have anything to do with civil marriage?

No one is forcing a church to marry anyone nor recognize the marriage of anyone.

But churches don’t get to dictate what civil contracts can/cannot be entered into. Nor do they get to claim ownership of the word “marriage” 🤷‍♀️

I wasn’t married in a church. There’s nothing religious about my marriage and never will be 🤷‍♀️

So? What’s your point?

The numbers are growing because its now a fad and someone else will pay for it.

Once again, we pay orders of magnitude more for all the idiot redheads refusing vaccines and then requiring a lot more care, as well as smokers / vaper users as well as those eating cheeseburgers.

So, should we outlaw smoking, vaping and eating cheeseburgers?

Or you are just going to stick with hypocrisy?

What God? Whose flavor?

The Creator GOD. The ONE who made biological LIFE. I don't see anyone else able to accomplish that. It's sort of like AI. That didn't just happen ---- it was created by man.
And since when does that have anything to do with civil marriage?

Marriage is proven through consummation. Consummation is proven by a pregnancy. If a couple doesn't get pregnant, that is between that couple and GOD. And the reality is gay couple cannot produce a child without reliance on outside assistance.

The members of the CHURCH do because they are citizens and pay taxes. Their opinions and votes are just as important.

So? What’s your point?
That's you choice. I hope it worked out well for your sake.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that smokers and drinkers and drug addicts and over eaters should be unable to sue anyone. They made the choices.

Because one regards a new life, care, and love,

I wanted very expensive horses...same things...should taxpayers pay for "my choices" there?

Spare me the BS.

while the other is about expectation, attention, and vanity. One needs the assistance of medical experts to protect life --- while the other needs psychiatric help coupled with spiritual guidance and nothing more to continue living.

More BS. If you are against taxpayer $$ going to support people's choices...be consistent. Unless it's an accident or rape, having a kid is a choice. And yeah...a very expensive one.
