Greg Gianforte vs Rob Quist

I think GOP will secure this despite the recent news on Greg. Around 70% of the votes have already been cast via mail in ballots... so before that news even broke.

You have just pointed out one of the major flaws in early voting. If something happens between the time you cast your vote and election day that would cause you to change you mind, you can't. This Greg character could have strangled that reporter to death, with 70% of the votes already cast, strangling the reporter death wouldn't have meant a hill of beans to those voters who already cast their ballot. It would be a non-existent event to them. It never happened to them. It was irrelevant to them.

Only 30% of the electorate could decide if that event actually meant something. But does early voting actually increase participation? I don't think so. If one goes back to before early voting began, Voter turnout in presidential elections was above 60%. it's been around 55% since.

Well, he did a proper contrite apology directly to the reporter, So I'll give him that.

Only after having officially blamed the reporter for attacking him first.

Why? We elect people to represent us and we vote for that person who most closely aligns with our political philosophy. Surely you know that. Gianforte behaved badly, but why would that cause anyone to cast a vote for the other guy, particularly if doing so would help the political party that you feel works against your interest? Answer: you wouldn't. The fact that Hillary got 60+million votes proves that your side is every bit as bad. So you can drop the name calling

Maybe he was just referring to them being an embarassment from a toxic policy standpoint alone.

Lol....how many special elections have the Democrats lost since Trumps inauguration ?

And some of these races were easy wins for the Democrats too.
I guess rage and conspiracy theories dont inspire confidence in the average American voter

2....

yeah - it is pretty shocking to see this happening in this great nation.

I agree. The sooner we shatter the spine of the liberal agenda, the sooner we can make this country move forward.

Just in case you were somewhere where you had no news access - the Republicans have been in charge of all branches of government for months now and any pretended liberal agenda is just delusions to befuddle right wingers into more hate.

1.....Aaaand the Dems lost another special election.

You would think all this faux outrage over Russian conspiracy theories would extend to the everyday voter.

Not so much, huh ?

The Gop majority is a consequences of the Liberal agenda

And what would a candidate of your party have to do to to not earn your vote? Does character not count for anything anymore? Are we this partisan-blind?

For the record, I realize most of the votes were already cast before the incident, but I highly doubt it would have changed anything if this happened a month ago because many-if-not-most conservatives have completely sold their souls to ideologues.

In a word, YES. We are partisan because not be is to be screwed, that goes for all sides. The government has so much power, and that power is used so liberally and the sides so diametrically opposed that to not be partisan is almost akin to suicide. This is a direct result of government power and as the government gets more the more partisan things become.

So much for the Party of Personal Responsibility.

If he assaulted that reporter Im sure he'll be held accountable.

GOPers make mistakes too

You mean AFTER he blatantly lied about what happened? Not sure that is deserving of much credit.
If he doesn't deserve credit for being decent, I'll at least give him credit for being smart.

Shhhh.... don't tell them!

If/when the DNC puts up candidates that dont want to turn America into a totalitarian s**t hole I will consider not voting GOP.

The DNC has lost around 90% of all local, state and national elections since and including 2010.

That is a record setting loss of power.

It's a lot bigger and longer than the usual pendulum swing.

There is no honest evidence that this trend is ending.

You act as if this is a beauty pageant where the winner is found to have acted improperly somehow and the runner up is given the crown. This isn't a popularity contest, it is a contest for control of power in Washington. Did this guy behave badly? Yes he did. Is that going to cause me to vote for someone who will enact laws that harm my interests? Hell no. And just for the record, had the roles been reversed and this been a democrat that had 'bodyslammed' someone, he would not have lost a single democrat vote, so drop your sanctimony.

God, debating against hyperboles is so boring.

Both parties have done tremendous damage to this country. There is no reason to believe Gianforte would have been better than Quist. You don't know where he stands. He was so unwilling to give his opinion about the healthcare bill he body-slammed a guy over it.

Actually, I think a lot of Republicans/Democrats would just stay home and not bother to vote if their candidate acted in the way Gianforte did. Only sheep put party before country.

Of course you know where he stands politically--he ran as a republican.

Well, when one party wants to 'fundamentally transform America' voting against that party is putting country first. But you can stop acting so pure any time now. you aren't fooling anybody. Hillary 'Secret Server' Clinton rounded up 60 million votes from those virtuous souls you pretend inhabit the left.

This race was one of national importance--hence the media coverage. You may not grasp this, but there are many Americans who don't want to see Pelosi and her pick-pocket leftist allies running the congress. Did this guy behave badly? Yes. Is that reason to turn power over to the left? Don't be silly.
