Donald Trump attacks Spike Lee over 'racist hit' during Oscars acceptance speech

Or, he can use his freedom of speech to say whatever the **** he wants... That still an option down there?

Where did Bucky state otherwise? Can't Bucky use his freedom of speech to criticize someone just as much as Spike Lee used his?

Where did OlNate advocate for the government to take adverse penalizing action against Bucky for his use of speech?

Bucky criticized Lee and Nate criticized Bucky...

Where did I state that OlNate said that?

That tired old game again? Really?

:sigh:

Here is where you stated that: when you repeated his mention of "freedom of speech", since the only time "freedom of speech" comes into play is when the government takes adverse action or otherwise constrains speech. The worst instance are content-based, but there are also place and time restrictions, which get more leeway.

It's a term of art. You can't not refer to that when you say "freedom of speech" anymore than someone could not refer to black holes warping spacetime severely when they say "event horizon". It means something, whether or not you like it, and whether or not you only wanted to aim a *gotcha* at a liberal.

Nobody said he hasn't the right to spew whatever the hell he wants.
Can you read?

Free speech doesn't mean the O/P can't severely criticize his speech.
Maybe that's not true in your country....

Trix...tsk...let me help you a bit here, you're struggling:

1) Yes, I can read. I would suggest that my participation in this forum would lead you to believe that, however one should not underestimate people's desire to make themselves look less intelligent than they are in order to get a dig in. If your assertion were correct, however, it would be something of a waste of time, as I wouldn't be able to read said dig... This is the first place you failed.

2) My comment about freedom of speech being still an option down there was sarcasm. Being such an effective user of sarcasm yourself, I would have thought you'd recognize that, but apparently not. This is the second place you failed.

3) The OP suggested that the guy should apologize. I disagreed. And you're right, Spike Lee can spew whatever the hell he wants...as can Bucky and as can I. So, in effect your statement backs me up as much as him. Since I'm pretty sure you weren't trying to back me up, this is the third place you failed.

4) We are allowed to criticize the opinions of others in Canada. A simple Google search would have given you that information easily. Now, normally I would assume you were being sarcastic with this, but given your fail in #2, I can't be sure - but either by not doing a two second check in Google to make sure your diss was spicy, or by rendering your sarcasm useless given the fail in #2, this is the fourth place you failed.

Hope this helps in future zingers, Trix. All the best! :)

I heard Spike's whole speech. The funny thing is, he never mentioned Trump by name. But, still we have Trump supporters with their panties in a bind, lol.

No need to explain MY post to me.

Psst...I like it when folks aim *gotchas* at me. After a few you tend to get ok at defending against them...it becomes a fun game. ;)

Kal's good people - we all get carried away, and I was being a bit of a d-bag, because it made me laugh to do so. Given his lack of response to my last post to him, I'll assume that we reached an understanding. If not...well...I'm right, so at least there's that...

Spike Lee's only talent is being an unapologetic racist. Strangely, there seems to be a big market for that in Hollywood.

I don't recall Trump apologizing for discriminating against blacks, being sued for doing so, and settling in New York ( public record ) back in the 70's. So...Do we have two unapologetic racists going at each other here in this matter in your opinion ?

No need to explain MY post to me.

Fair enough - I've written things in the past that I've looked at after and wondered how I failed so badly, so if you have already reached that conclusion, I have nothing to add. :)

Donald Trump attacks Spike Lee over '''racist hit''' during Oscars acceptance speech | Fox News

Spike Lee's was completely out of control last night. His antics were childish and shameful. He should apologize to Trump and the entire staff on the Green Book. The BlackKKKlansman wasn't a great movie IMO. He acted like he was at a sporting event.

So just out of curiosity, has Trump had anything to say yet about the White Supremacist who armed himself to the teeth in preparation for killing a bunch of Democrats and media personalities?

If that's true, then he's a perfect match to Donald Trump, who is the most vulgar white man of high power in your country, and who also had zero class last night, or any other. They should be besties. Or something.

But thanks for the chuckle...always gotta laugh when a Trump supporter complains about lack of class in anyone else.

Agreed...using vulgar as an insult to the opposition of Trump doesn't make sense as Trump is no better. I'd just stick to the, "Who cares what Hollywood has to say?".

 I have to admit you make sense sir. Not exactly the angle I was driving at, but equally valid...and far simpler, come to think of it... hehe

trump seems to care...............A lot!....Hence the childish tweets...But Spike Lee did kick his ass...Hard, so there is that

Not sure many on the left can use that as an insult against Trump, seeing as they are in constant outrage about everything. Kinda the same thing as trying to call an opponent to Trump vulgar, when Trump is also vulgar.

: .....the Academy Awards has their own means of deciding who wins, …...

They certainly addressed the complaints last year that the Academy winners were too white.

Apparently he said it was "a shame". What the shame was, he didn't say.

Oh brother.

We're not supposed to draw any conclusions from him being harsher toward black people for kneeling during the national anthem than he is to white supremacist criminals.

Oh I know, I know. Imagine, a black man calling out a racist. A black man calling out a sitting POTUS for publicly supporting the KKK and Neo Nazis.

Just childish, a real man would maybe put a burning cross on Spike's lawn, amirite?

The man dressed up like a grape. He wasn't scaring anybody.

Pffft. Trump is the biggest coward around. He's afraid everyone is going to discover what loser he is, hence his need to constantly say how great he is..."I only use the best words."

The man dressed up like a grape. He wasn't scaring anybody.

Meh...Trump looks like an orange.

Do you see how difficult it is to start a diss thread for a Trump supporter? How long before you get tired of having the guy you support chop off your leg to stand on? By all means, be conservative...but maybe next time, if you wish to be taken seriously, elect a serious president. You can't claim the high road when you pick from the gutter.

The President of the United States of America, the most important person in the world, was wrong to tweet something about what an individual like Mr. Lee said.

Someone in the President's position should not deign to acknowledge something that is said by a third-rate entertainer.

I hope that our gracious and beautiful First Lady will teach her husband about noblesse oblige.

"supporting the KKK and Neo Nazis"??? Was that all within the utterance of 7 words "there are good people on both sides". That's not supporting the KKK or Nazis, that's supporting the 80-90% of the people there on that side of the debate who simply opposed tearing down civil war statues.
