Are Hispanics Going Trump/Republican ?

You address my saying "Hispanics will be the majority in the US", like it's a bad thing!

Pist.....

Do they vote "majority" Republican or Democrat?

DUDE.... Again, New Mexico has the Highest % of Hispanics of any other state

Pray tell why the Republican got his ass kicked so bad in the 2018 midterms?

shrug...

Okay. Have it your way. Don't read the article.

Currently most Hispanics vote democrat, but that can and does change.
In 1900, nearly 100% of African Americans voted Republican, that changed!

Yep, can you tell me when and why it changed?

We all have opinions, but I blame Teddy Roosevelt and how he handled the Brownsville affair.
That was where the shift occurred, that gave Du Bois and the future NAACP a foothold.

I believe it happened more with the second election of FDR(More Government)

And yet again with Lyndon Johnson's "Great society"

I'm seeing a pattern aren't you?

So who is for more Gov(or at least a ruse)? Pub's or Dims?

And yet we still do not know how future Hispanics will vote,
I say they will vote like all the other Americans!

Oh but we do... they(majority) want more GOV in their life(Hello)

You see, you brought up Blacks that use to be Republicans . BUT, that was before the "New deal" and the "Great society"(wink)

BIg Gov is here and now

You see?

Seriously, don't you remember the words Trump had for Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria? Those residents are still recovering on parts of that island and next month it will be three years since that disaster. There's more than 2 million Puerto Ricans in Florida alone that are registered voters. The number of Hispanic registered voters in Florida has increased 6.2% since the 2016 presidential election, to a record 2.1 million people.

Hurricane Maria forced many Puerto Ricans to come to the U.S to. live with relatives or friends after Hurricane Maria because they lost everything, had no place to live. If all those people register to vote, in a̶d̶d̶i̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ addition (lol) to the already millions of Puerto Ricans in this country, they will never vote for Trump because of the treatment Trump gave them. Puerto Ricans are the second-largest Latino group nationwide, after Mexican-Americans. And, no-hell-no, they will not be voting for Trump in 2020.

Of course I didn't mean a̶d̶d̶i̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ I meant addition LOL!

But Fl is a swing state that can go either way

Older Cubans have ALWAYS generally been conservative but are dying off

So is Texas. What will you do when it goes Blue?

Did you know that Texas voted for Hillary in 2016 about a 1/2 a million(That's a lot) more than they did for Obama in 2012?

Oh my......

I was responding to the other poster's post. You made some good points. I would argue that Florida gets a miniscule amount of increased red voters every election but Texas is definitely in trouble of flipping blue.

And yet we still do not know how future Hispanics will vote,

If Republicans ever find their way back to respectability after Trump, they will be much more attractive to Hispanics. As it is now, not so much.

Yeah... just like before Trump(Rolling eyes)

With all the Puerto Rican's settling there? I'm not so sure about that.

Trump had a little Home field advantage in Florida

Look how close the Senate and Governors race was in 2018. The Repub's only won by the skin of their teeth.

I'm not saying that the state isn't purple. I'm saying that it gets a few more red votes every year. I don't dispute Texas going south on Republicans, particularly due to blue people in California leaving the state in droves. I think Puerto Ricans are beginning to realize that Trump tried to help them more than they know and that the real problem was their corrupt governor.

I'm not so sure of that and think it's quite the opposite

In My opinion, the Hispanics who are voting are citizens, and not much more concerned about immigration
than anyone else. They see the economy doing well, and everyone who wants to work, can get a decent paying job.
Education levels have been increasing, and with education comes the ability to look beyond the rhetoric,
and see which sides policies are better overall for the things that matter, like providing for one's family.
Demographics change, why should we expect them not to?

Pray tell why dont republicans get more of the hispanic vote.Theres a major Christian voting block right there.

Anyone who thinks a large number of Hispanics are anywhere near supporting Trump is delusional. Of course, I can't speak for any Hispanic other than myself and the people I know but the ones I do know are very vocal about not supporting him. Many of us have been told our whole lives to "go back where we came from" and we are not ever going to support someone who endorses and promotes that kind of hurtful rhetoric.

If I was a hispanic citizen, I would be concerned about being picked up in a raid unjustly. It's happened to american citizens, who weren't even immigrants.

I decided to start a thread on this. I am sick of hearing that Hispanics are supporting Trump/Republicans in droves.

Other than Cuban's in Florida, I don't see Hispanics supporting Trump/Repub's

Let's go back to only about 7 months ago during the 2018 midterms to the state of New Mexico where there is the highest % of Hispanics of any other state. The DEMOCRAT senator won big time.

The Dem senator got a "D" rating from NumbersUSA on immigration.

I have been hearing for years that the Hispanics in New Mexico were against illegal immigration etc(Rolling eyes).

What a bunch of BS

The legal ones should be. Get rid of the illegals undercutting wages and the legal immigrants here would get better wages along with the rest of the poor. It is sad the way they are being exploited right now by both parties. That is what happens when the rich and powerful fund all the candidates. They all work for the rich and powerful not the people.

Just so I understand your position. The way to win over Hispanic voters is to support illegal border crossing. Have I got that right?

You know, that is not what is happening. What is happening is that the non-white legal immigrants are being harassed, and the assumption is made that they are not legal immigrants. They are being told over and over again 'go back to where you came from'. There is a number of cases were ICE has tried to deport Hispanic citizens who even were born in the U.S. That is what concerns them. The very intense prejudice that maga hat wearing folks are showing them, based on how they look ethnically.

I don't think so

The buffoon politicians will only have to increase already too high number legal immigration after ending illegal immigration

Just like what this buffoon has done already(Hello)

I have "heard" the following:

1. Hispanic people are on path to becoming the majority ethnicity in this country.

2. Hispanic people are, generally speaking, culturally conservative.

3. The Dems are currently culturally liberal.

4. In the future, it is possible that many Hispanic people will vote Republican.

5. The Dems in the future cannot take the Hispanic vote for granted, as it currently does.

1. Hispanic people are on path to becoming the majority ethnicity in this country.

I am not racist

But, don't you find it Ironic that Whites will be a minority in the future after being the majority?

I do

Because "Liberalism" has crept into the Catholic Church(wink)

Hi!

I am terrified of that word "irony," for it is used incorrectly by so many people, including me. So I shall not answer your question directly.

I am also reluctant to give my opinion on ethnic matters, for we members are bound by strict posting rules.

I think/hope that I am allowed to say this:

There are many sincere people who feel that it does not make any difference whatsoever whether the majority ethnicity is Caucasian or Hispanic.

Have a nice weekend!
