AOC Hits it out of the Park again

 Well, Trump fans would certainly recognize "propaganda" when they see it; unless, of course, it comes out of a republican mouth.

Or Russian post, email, meme, then you pass it on to everyone...

That is your opinion. Their knowledge of anything is roughly equal and average. In a just society, we would not be giving someone with no experience the time of day. However, I have stated before: Since Trump won the White House, you all are so eager to outperform his nonsense and stupidity.

And it's your opinion that they are equal. Your unsupported opinion. I can think of a dozen ignorant things Donald Trump has said offhand. Trump has said that when you exercise, your body uses up all of its energy stores and therefore you die a younger death. Trump has said that you literally wash coal, like off with a hose and then it becomes clean coal. Trump, has called climate change a hoax invented by the Chinese. Trump has said that Norway rakes its forests out to prevent forest fires; they rake an entire forest :lamo. Trump has said that when you spray off hairspray containers inside your apartment, your apartment is sealed off from the rest of the world, so it doesn't harm the environment. Trump has said that he polls higher than Abraham Lincoln. (There was no polling conducted during Abraham Lincoln.) When asked about the nuclear triad; Trump gave an incoherent answer rounded off with historical illiteracy in saying that WW2 was fought hand to hand. Do I need to go on?

^
That is a black hole of ignorance. Comparing AOC to that dead star above is a stretch only desperate partisans would make because they disagree with her politics.

What about climate change is she right about, precisely? As I recall, no one liked her new New Green Deal. The AFL-CIO publicly stated they would not back any candidate who supported it; solar and wind companies never talked about it; no one voted for it (in fact, some Democrats voted against it).

What exactly is she right about in regards to climate change? She acknowledges that it exists, so I guess she gives some browny-points, despite not understanding any of the science or practical solutions.

She's right in that it exists, is man-made (science agrees with her there) and is a national security threat to the United States. You know who else agrees with her there? The Pentagon. Trump says its a hoax, and is coincidentally bought off by oil and gas to do nothing.

There's also this nugget here:

More than 80 percent of registered voters support the Green New Deal proposal being pushed by progressional Democratic lawmakers, a new poll found.

I'm glad you're comfortable with career politicians. It's usually the perfect avenue for people with no competency in the private sector.

I have more confidence in the public sector than the private sector.

70% of New Yorkers supported the Amazon deal. Where was the AOC platform for that?

She's a U.S. Congress person, what power does she have over NYC decisions, other than shaping public opinion?

You have no idea what econ majors study at the undergrad level, do you?

Actually, I do, since i helped a bunch of them write their papers in college. Do you?

Can you clarify this sentence, please? It really makes no sense...

Jamie Dimon is a crook who belongs in jail. Did I stutter?

This is nothing more than carefully editted clips designed to convey a certain level of emotion while cherry-picking targetted points.

Also known as "Propaganda."

"Carefully edited" = five straight minutes of uninterrupted video

She still believes she's on the right side of the Amazon deal...

That's not an interest in learning.

She was. The Amazon deal was terrible for New York.

AOC once said that the unemployment rate was low because everyone in the economy has two jobs...

And that's all I really need. But I guess if you don't understand how employment figures are calculated, that more than qualifies you to be on the financial services committee.

Well, I don't know what credibility the Pentagon has on this subject but I'm not really interested in your appeal to authority here. As for, being "bought off by oil and gas," something that you, nor AOC, nor Trump understands is that over the last three years, the five largest publicly-traded oil and gas companies invested over $1 billion into advertising and lobbying for renewables and other climate-related ventures.

Little did you know, advocating for renewable energy actually HELPS oil companies, not hurt.

Both parties support "A" Green New Deal, not AOC's Green New Deal. Read the article.

“Other research has shown that people evaluate policies more negatively when they are told it is backed by politicians from an opposing political party. Conversely, people evaluate the same policy more positively when told it is backed by politicians from their own party,” the poll takers wrote in a blog post explaining its results.

“Therefore, these findings may indicate that although most Republicans and conservatives are in favor of the Green New Deal’s policies in principle, they are not yet aware that this plan is proposed by the political Left.”

I have more confidence in the public sector than the private sector.

Well, if you like a bunch of buffoons running your congress, you get the government you deserve. At this point, Kim Kardashian has proven that she is more of an effective justive reform advocate that she is actually considering attending law school.

She's a U.S. Congress person, what power does she have over NYC decisions, other than shaping public opinion?

Who said she can support her platform by polling the American public. Where was her platform in support of the Amazon deal?

And we give congressional representatives only two years. Whatever she is trying to do, she better make it fast.

You have 400+ more reps to follow up on. Please get back to us.

There is no evidence to support this claim.

Sure there is. The richest company in the world was getting ridiculous tax breaks to create "jobs" that would have broken an entire borough. Not. Worth. It.

The infrastructure costs alone made it a bad deal, when you consider Amazon -- AMAZON -- would have been basically handed ONE POINT FIVE BILLION DOLLARS.

I've seen a few of your posts, and I think it's fair to say you haven't a single clue what on earth you're talking about.

Actually, I do, since i helped a bunch of them write their papers in college. Do you?

Since we're doing pointless ancedotes, my undergrad was in Economics, yes I understand exactly econ majors study at the undergrad level, and it's not banking operations.

If you're lucky enough, you'll get an internship at a bank with an econ major; if you're even luckier, you'll stay on full time. AOC never worked a single day in a bank, but knows about banking operations and the "complexities of the financial crisis..." somehow? How exactly does this work in your mind?

Jamie Dimon is a crook who belongs in jail. Did I stutter?

Jamie Dimon is the banker of last resort. Exactly what makes him "a crook who belongs in jail?"

AOC once said that the unemployment rate was low because everyone in the economy has two jobs...

And that's all I really need.

If you want to retract your claim that AOC's ignorance is equal to Trump, I suppose that's all you need.

But I guess if you don't understand how employment figures are calculated, that more than qualifies you to be on the financial services committee.

Not even close to Trump's ignorance if we are using the Trump yardstick of stupidity. So, you have failed to support your initial claim that I disputed.

Well, I don't know what credibility the Pentagon has on this subject but I'm not really interested in your appeal to authority here.

Basically, the Pentagon has bases all around the world so they have first hand experience with the effects of climate change. Why would you think the Pentagon is an authority on climate change? That would be climate scientists and the IPCC. Rather the Pentagon are witnesses to its effects, rather than experts.

Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

Right, the most profitable companies in the world are going to destroy their own business model. If the Republican Party which is owned by Big Oil lock, stock, and barrel, actually supported renewables.. they would support renewables.

Detail quibbling to avoid admitting AOC's agenda is popular with the American public.

Who said she can support her platform by polling the American public. Where was her platform in support of the Amazon deal?

Who said that AOC and the Amazon deal are connected? You did. I happen to think the Amazon deal would've been a bad deal for New Yorkers. So, I agree with her, but, what's your point? Your butthurt about Amazon pulling out and you think AOC should update her platform to finger wag at Amazon and capitulate to billionaires?

:lamo

Sure there is. The richest company in the world was getting ridiculous tax breaks to create "jobs" that would have broken an entire borough. Not. Worth. It.

So you don't understand the Amazon deal, either... That isn't suprising.

Amazon was not getting tax breaks to "create jobs." They were were recieving already existing incentives in New York business regulations. This break only kicks in if the company generates $27 billion in revenue.

The infrastructure costs alone made it a bad deal, when you consider Amazon -- AMAZON -- would have been basically handed ONE POINT FIVE BILLION DOLLARS.

No one is GIVING amazon money. Amazon keeps $3 billion in revenue after generating $27 million dollars in tax revenue for the city. What about that is difficult to understand?

I've seen a few of your posts, and I think it's fair to say you haven't a single clue what on earth you're talking about.

So far, you've mentioned two fallacies:

1) Amazon is given tax breaks to create jobs
2) Amazon was going to be given money.

Rethink think sentence and your position, please. For your own good.

She'd probably kill me for saying this, but AOC has a lot in common with Trump. She's applying the tactics of Twitter trolling to politics to manage herself as a brand. I don't think for a second that she actually believes half the dumb **** she says; I think that she knows that it will dominate the headlines. Trump does the same exact thing. You figure out what the media wants, you give it to them, and you use the 'bad publicity' to raise your profile and dominate the news cycle. They both mind-hijack the media, playing these glorified bloggers like a matador play a bull. It's asymmetrical information warfare, and it's incredibly powerful in the digital age, where social media is making the pace of 'trending news' grow more and more feverish.

Idiots don't become president, nor do they unseat important incumbent Congressmen.

Words have not been invented to describe how uninformed this post is...

I heart Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The woman has more intelligence and more balls than damn near anyone in Congress. She uses them on behalf of the People of the United States. She is a welcomed and rare breath of fresh air.

Is this sarcasm? I don't think anyone could actually believe this.

If you want to retract your claim that AOC's ignorance is equal to Trump, I suppose that's all you need.

Not even close to Trump's ignorance if we are using the Trump yardstick of stupidity. So, you have failed to support your initial claim that I disputed.

My claim is that they are both ignorant and unknowledgable; not that they have stated the same amount of factually inaccurate statements.

No where in that article does it show the assessment from the IPCC.

Right, the most profitable companies in the world are going to destroy their own business model. If the Republican Party which is owned by Big Oil lock, stock, and barrel, actually supported renewables.. they would support renewables.

There is a reason why it's called the "energy" sector.

Detail quibbling to avoid admitting AOC's agenda is popular with the American public.

Not that popular. Trump has a higher approval rating...

The point is her policies aren't driven by facts or popular support.

Anyone that is impressed with AOC is a complete idiot. There are no doubts about this.

Back in the day, when Ron Paul ran for potus, I always wished he was more quick witted, would be able to bring his point across faster and more precise. Because he didn't, those who were more eloquent outdid him in almost every debate. Old man Paul had a lot to say, had more wisdom than most of his opponents, still has, has more integrity and brain than many we see on stage these days. Granny was always weary of the quick witted "gutter mouthed", as she called them. Talk is just that.

I don't know about this... I really don't understand all the obsession with her.

I understand that Trump is the worst thing to happen to American politics, but ever since he won the Democrats have been eager to make the Republicans hold their beer.

The obsession with her stems from the fact that it is and has been MOST RARE to hear the truth spoken in Congress. She is a breath of fresh air to those longing for responsive government, to those disgusted with the status quo. Like me.

An objective look at the "intelligence:"

AOC: "I'm concerned about the potentiality of fines related to misconduct just being incorporated as the cost of doing business. Are you guys taking fines into account for your risk analysis?"

Corbat: "Absolutely Not."

AOC: "People have gone to jail for jumping the turnstyle. Should more people have gone to jail for their role in the financial crisis?"

Dimon: "Ask a laywer..."

Am missing something here?

Oh yes, yes you are.
