2017 College Football Thread [W:49]

2 big misses--who would have guessed

Pretty good game. Which of these 2 would UCF have beaten?

Alabama is the New England Patriots of the NCAA. If the team plane crashed it would land on a Nerf factory.

Great game & it was a grat bowl season for quarterbacks from Hawaii. MacKenzie Milton was Hawaiin Gatorade Player of the Year
in 2015 & Tua Tagovailoa received the Hawaiin Gatorade Player of the Year in 2016. They both made their names shining during
the 2017 bowl season

Georgia definitely deserved to lose that game. They were handed two missed short field goals by bama and Jim Chaney should be fired for being a complete dumbass when it comes to play calling. First half Georgia was up and had a balanced pass to run ratio game and it worked. 2nd half comes and that dip**** decided to go practically 100% run so every possession was three and out. What a complete idiotic moron. And he STILL refuses to use his highly effective tight ends. Bad coaching letting those kids down.

One huge bright light for UGA is Blankenship still nailing 50+ yard field goals.

Meh...that's nothing compared to the huge "officiating break" Alabama received from the committee to even be in the playoff.

So there was:

  1. An off-sides that wasn't an off-sides. And in fact it was a false start that was a no-call on Bama as well.
  2. A face-mask that wasn't called.
  3. Another no-call personal foul when a guy tackled Fromm then got up and did a big shove down on his head.
  4. And they tied the game on a false start no-call.

"We report. You decide."

I don't need a report. Just video. And I've got that. But no amount of my bitching and crying will change the results. No will it retroactively make Jim Chaney call down better plays which is the true travesty.

Congrats to the NCF Champs for 2017. UCF, undefeated, the perfect season. National Champions!!!

Well, undefeated is good and beating Auburn is commendable but Memphis was the only other ranked team they played. The rest of their schedule was 2nd tier teams and lower. They need a MUCH better strength of schedule before they get anything like "Champion" consideration.

Final AP Poll:

AP Top 25
RK TEAM REC PTS TREND
1 Alabama(57) 13-1 1521 3
2 Georgia 13-2 1454 1
3 Oklahoma 12-2 1374 1
4 Clemson 12-2 1292 3
5 Ohio State 12-2 1286 —
6 UCF(4) 13-0 1248 4
7 Wisconsin 13-1 1194 1
8 Penn State 11-2 1120 1
9 TCU 11-3 974 4
10 Auburn 10-4 917 3

UCF & Alabama were the only two teams that received 1st place votes and properly so.
With a#6 national ranking I think they were given their do considering how bias the
Polls always are to the power 5 conferences. No other non power 5 conference football
team ever was ranked that high in the final polls.

'The Crimson Tide received 57 of 61 first-place votes from the media panel after its 26-23
overtime win Monday night. UCF received the other four and finished with the best ranking
in the history of the program. The Knights are the first team to finish the season undefeated
and not win a national title since TCU in 2010.'

In signing the proclamation, Gov. Rick Scott said on Monday: “Florida is home to the country’s best college football, and this season, UCF proved to the world that they can beat any team. By having a perfect season and beating the only team that defeated both Alabama and Georgia this season, the UCF Knights are clearly champions.”

They also beat South Florida a team also in the final 25 poll rankings

Blankenship was impressive. it would have been a shorter game if Bama's kicker had performed as well.
