2017 College Football Thread [W:49]

That's ludicrous. To be honest, they are not even better then Auburn despite the fact that they beat them in a meaningless bowl game.

clearly trolling.

The current system is designed to protect the Power Five oligarchy.

That said, it's not the players' fault. Good luck to both teams.

Not when you look at the level of teams UCF played in their regular season.

lol...Tide vs Vandy, Colorado State, Fresno St, Tennessee, Ole Miss, MERCER!

Some tough schedule that was.

Point is that the power five conferences play football at a very high level. if we were to base playoff scenarios simply based on "undefeated vs lost a game or two", we might as well add high school teams into the final 4 if they win all their regular season games. Let's face it not all college football programs are equal.

Which is why two power five conference champions were left out?

Ole Ms prior to it's coach getting fired last year was an excellent power house team. if you take out injuries Tennessee would be as well. Vandy is up and coming. the only real cupcake teams on your list are Fresno State and Mercer. Where most of the teams that UCF played were cupcake teams that most of us have never heard of.

I might watch just because of the special guest who'll be there ...

A couple of interesting tidbits on tonight's game:

1) Saban is 11-0 vs ex assistant coaches.

2) Georgia beat Alabama in men's basketball. This is the 4th time in the BCS/CFP era where the eventual CFP Championship Game participants met in basketball prior to the title game. Each of the previous 3 times, the winner of the basketball game also won the football game.

How many ranked teams did Bama Beat?

Most were ranked at the time Alabama played them. That includes Florida State who was ranked third. Alabama played them right out of the gate in their first game. I beleive all of their SEC opponents were ranked when Alabama played them. that includes Auburn.

"Most" is a huge embellishment. They played 4 ranked teams during the regular season. Two were outside the top 15. And, except for the highly unreliable pre-season # 3, they lost to the only other team in the top ten, #6 Auburn.

They never should have had the chance to beat Clemson, yet alone Georgia. They should be spectators.

We will have to agree to disagree. Enjoy the game if you watch it.

I'll certainly be watching the ticker. And, maybe part of the 2nd half, if it's a close game.

We'll see. I take nothing for granted. two excellent teams.

I'll be watching the box score too. IMO, GA has both the better running game and the QB. However, Bama has the best D...outside of Ohio. :)

Well, that was pretty disappointing. 27 point spread in the basketball game. I guess, I'll be tuning into the football game after all. At least its score is pretty close.

Saban looks pissed. I'd hate to be in that locker room right now.
