Why Jesus Would Have Hated Most Modern Day Religion

well its not debating, its stirring a pot, with no spoon in your hand.
Nonsense. Everyone knows the gist of Christ's message--no need to be be a theologian or a true believer to "get it." It's also quite obvious, from the wild cheering heard at pro-gun rallies when a self-proclaimed Christian screeches about the prospect of torturing Muslims to the rallying cries we see in the supposed Bible Belt denying the working poor medical coverage, many (if not most) of today's American Evangelical Christians are not adhering to those teachings.

Debating these points from a secular POV is definitely a fair argument.

why is it i see people posting who make it a point to say they are not christians, but make the point they know the bible?

The Bible as we call it did exist in Jesus' time it was the Jewish book of Wisdom. OUr Old testament.

Judge not lest ye be judged

Thou shalt not bear false witness against they neighbor

Love thy neighbor as theyself

"Whatever thou doeist to the least of my brethren so you do onto me." Jesus.

Want to try again. God is love not hate.

Nope I think its 1% don't. Nice try

This has some merit based on the Conclave of Nicea but it is still wrong. If you have ever read the Tora (I have) or the Koran for that matter you would recognize most of it.

actually this happened in the 4th century and many books were "banned" which are now being read because they contradicted with the Church hierarchy wanted the faithful to believe.

I'm not a fan of horse racing, but I know all about the Triple Crown.

Jesus also said to just go out and feed the poor. He didn't say to whine about government and declare that it must be voluntary. He just said to go do it. Modern religions bear little resemblance to their ancient origins. Unfortunately, a little is still too much.

Jesus never said we had to do our giving through a bloated, corrupt, and inefficient government.

Not only that but Redistribution of Wealth is unbiblical.

Nonsense

Matthew 19:21 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
…20The young man said to Him, "All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?" 21Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." 22But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property.…

These verses aren't about redistribution of wealth.

that means nothing.

I know of the triple crown also

it does not make me an expert, and authority concerning it let alone talking about it.

I feel comfortable saying Secretariat was the greatest horse to ever win the Triple crown, and that most horses, due to today's specialized fields of short and long runners, can not win the shorter Derby and still be competitive in the Belmont. THis is especially true with the Preakness being only 2 weeks after the KD, a race the winner is forced to run while most of the better horses lying in wait rest up until the final race in NY. I learned most of that reading Randy Moss.

Likewise, I can easily find the biblical quote which shows Logicman is wrong when he says, "Redistribution of Wealth is unbiblical."

"Sell your possessions and give to the poor" is not commanding a redistribution of wealth. Really? How on earth do you come up with that?

Once again I missed the part where Jesus said we're supposed to filter our giving through the government.

Also, do be the perfect example of what you write and send me all your money and possessions.

i would like for you to show me that also.

Redistribution of Wealth in the times we live in is by force, Jesus was not about force.

You can always find a loon or two but 99% of Christians follow the new testament. That is alot of what separates Jews and Christians, Jews still follow the old testament.

Unless you bring up the subject of homosexuality. Then they seem to be all up in the old T.

Most churches I've been in the pastor will preach from both the Old and New Testaments. In addition, virtually all of the Christians I know read or have read both the OT and NT and can carry on a decent conversation about both.

In the OT are numerous Messianic prophecies concerning Jesus Christ. Knowledgeable Christians will tell you the NT is the OT revealed, and the OT is the NT concealed.

IMO, if Jesus exists up in heaven, he would probably condemn most Christians to hell. Clearly, it seems to me He has no choice because they do not really believe in Him, which is the sole requirement for passage through heaven's gates. Correct?.

I always find it amusing that people who do not believe in God (or Jesus) claim to know what He does and does not like.

And yet you do not do so.

Uh...how do I put this? Since, I can read, I know what the men wrote while claiming it was the word of God and Jesus.

Uh huh. If you want to follow Christ, he said to sell your possessions, give them to the poor and then follow. You're just making excuses. That's pretty transparent.
