Dateline Florida: Guns Win Again

The day is young. Guaranteed to get worse. LOL

If he didn't lie so much and resort so fast to ad-hom: because when he's cornered that's all he can think of to do, it might make for interesting discussion, but of course that's never going to happen, so we just keep pounding away at the BS.

A good first step would be to quit pumping out more of them

Yep, congress will jump at the chance to destroy those jobs - mainly because they value your vote and campaign contribution more.

Keeping it in focus, these are more reasons that guns need to be heavily regulated:

so negligence which is unintentional requires more restrictions? do you understand how stupid that sounds

that tape is really worthless by the way

It's idiots with guns: those law abiding citizens that the NRA brags about.

Idiots with guns create regulation; we need more of it.

The most disingenuous post I've seen today.

You apparently don't read your own posts

that's one of the more stupid arguments-what creates regulation are pimps in office and those upset that others have more freedom than they do

4 more children dead. Yeay guns!

Gunman kills self, 4 child hostages after Florida standoff

When will this country finally learn?

The problem is the guns.

No it's not Calamity, it's people. How many pressure cookers were banned after the boys in Boston bombed the race?
Last year a guy mowed down several in the street with his Dodge Challenger, they are still making them and no one said a word about it.
Guns can be used for good as well as evil, but the news about guns, used nearly everyday for good, are mostly ignored by the lying media.
The evil is with certain people, not the tools used.

Domestic violence case turns into mass murder---Something that almost always happens when there are guns.
But, over in England, Belgium, France, hell worldwide, they use knives, fire, vehicles, poison, to get the same effect. Why do you fixate on a tool, instead of the person using it?

We certainly do not see cops shot and four children killed when there is not a gun involved

No, we see the kids stabbed to death and the house set on fire, if no gun is involved!

True, yet there are many millions of guns in private hands and such cases are extremely rare.

Extremely rare for sure. Texting while walking kills more people in recent years, than illegal use of guns.

Yep. The guy pulling the trigger is just a victim of NRA propaganda and had nothing to do with the shooting. Sir, I think you have found the undeniable underlying truth in the pursuit of eliminating gun violence. It will be a fine day in America when people can only commit violent acts with implements other than guns. Heck, once we get rid of guns maybe violence will cease altogether.

Just like in England, by jove.

I don't care what sane people do; the problem is too many guns falling into the hands of the insane. Or, are you OK with four dead kids?
I'm not, but the guy could have done it in any number of different ways. A silly fixation on guns(tools) is not healthy and not logical either.

No. The four dead kids are victims of NRA propaganda and the money they spend keeping rational gun laws at bay.
There you go again, being just plain wrong. The NRA is a champion of civil rights and has been since 1871. They are also trainers of police and at one time, the military. There is no propaganda and never has been any, from the NRA, on the use of a gun for a criminal act.
That notion is totally false and a product of media. The media are the propagandists, not the NRA. C'mon Calamity, I know that you are smart enough to figure this out.

not that rare.

10,000 gun homicides a year is not rare. That's roughly 30 a day.

Many of those are justifiable. They don't break that down into police shootings, accidental shootings, self defense shootings or suicides by gun.

The US homicide rate in 2014, the most recent year available, was 4.5 per 100,000. The 2014 total follows a long downward trend and is the lowest homicide rate recorded since 1963 when the rate was 4.6 per 100,000. To find a lower homicide rate, we must travel back to 1957 when the total homicide rate hit 4.0 per 100,000.

Homicide rates were considerably higher in the United States during the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, but over the past 25 years, have fallen nearly continuously:

More guns, less crime.

What about all of the children drowned, strangled or smothered by crazy parents? Evidently grownups don't need guns to kill young children.

There are 50 ways to kill your .........................

Do those parents shoot cops and hold them at bay while they kill their kids?

Answer:: No they ****ing do not!

They sure ****ing can! I submit that people's imaginations are only limited by their emotions.

Don't go playing that bull**** on me. This guy was a repeat criminal, apparently angry with his girl friend. Exactly the type that shouldn't be allowed access to guns.

Exactly.

This is really the problem. Idiots with guns kill people….and not just by accident. We need regulations to keep guns out of the hands of morons

There is no country on earth with low gun deaths that does not have effective gun control. Every single country with lax gun laws has high gun deaths

We already have hundreds of them in the U.S. But, like most laws, they can be circumvented. How? Human error. Miscommunication, foul up in paper work, careless and stupid parents and others, who think little Suzy and little Johnny can do no wrong, ineffective storage. I've read numerous articles in the last several years, where guns were stolen from National Guard Armories and police evidence lockers.
It all boils down to one thing vegas, human error. The tool can never be "the problem." The tool just sits there until activated by humans.
I knew a guy who had 18 drunk driving arrests, over 25 years. It must have been a problem with cars, we just need more regulations on cars.

There is no country on earth with low gun deaths that does not have effective gun control. Every single country with lax gun laws has high gun deaths
The converse is true. Many countries have very strict gun laws and yet they are high in violent deaths. Because, the citizens cannot defend themselves.
Twice in 2015, we saw terrorists in France, mow down people at will with their AK-47s and bombs strapped to their chests. The first was at the Charlie Hebdo office in Jan. The second was in November. A coordinated attack occurred at a soccer match, at the Bataclan Theater, a restaurant and in the streets. How did the citizens save themselves? They didn't, they were defenseless.
The lesson that is so obvious here is that Americans, should not be as naive and stupid as Europe and in particular, the French. Guns are an important tool for survival and gun free zones are just dumb.

God I wish we had the French gun death rates.

There is NO country on earth with lax gun laws and low gun deaths. That is a stone cold fact

Already have them. We need better enforcement of those, and better procedures to ensure the database of prohibited persons is maintained.

That plan does not work anywhere on earth

That plan does not work anywhere on earth
It's working right here. Millions of potential gun buyers are screened every year and over a hundred thousand are denied. IF the database were more accurate that number would increase.
