US Women's team crowned world champion after 2-0 win over the Netherlands

Good for them. As an act of contrition, I'd let Alex Morgan blow me and make her hum the National Anthem as she did it.

That would earn her a pat on the head and a smack on the ass and full forgiveness for supporting the commie.

Lulz 'Commie'?

You should learn what words mean.

Misogynist much?

The US women's soccer team is dominant on a world stage in the same way that the US men's basketball team is. This should be a moment that can be celebrated by ALL Americans. Pity it isn't.

Politics has a way of ****ing up everything.

Homophobia and sexism are not really politics. Bigotry is not politics. The vast majority of Republicans and conservatives are proud to have another world dynasty.

First soccer I've watched in years.

I was at a TGIF for lunch and they had it on all the screens. The second goal came from a local girl. She played for Mt Notre Dame, one of the strong Catholic girls sports programs in Cincinnati: one of my nieces was that league's player of the year at three time state champion Saint Ursula and played against Rose-knee injuries in college ended my niece's career but she knows Rose well and has lots of good things to say about her

Women's soccer is taking off. It's also doing well in Africa, where men's soccer has been a thing for some time.

How 'bout that youngster at Wimbledon. You follow tennis, I've seen.

The US women's World Cup dynasty is a monument. It's a beacon to women across the globe. It will never go away.

USA

It will fade, out of fashion before Trump is out of office. This beacon is at least a couple of decades late because there are only a few memorable international team wins for Americans that will live in American memory; the American ice hockey team that downed the Russians and went on to win Gold. and the women's soccer team that beat China in the finals (and Brandy Chastain's memorable removal of her shirt).

I first noticed her when she beat Caty McNally to win one of the big junior events. Ms McNally-who just turned pro is the little sister of JP McNally. He plays #2 on the Ohio State team that won the indoor nationals and was the top seed (upset by NC) at the recent NCAA nationals. I know them because the #1 player at that school-JJ Wolf is one of my son's better friends. JJ and JP were national doubles champions as juniors. So when I heard Caty McNally was playing for a title, and it was on tv I watched it. and I was very impressed with Ms Gauff who beat the two years older CM. She appears to have the goods. She also has a wonderful genetic background, both her parents were college sports stars.

What is interesting is far more pro women have professional athletes as parents then the men

Agassi is one of the few top men I can think of-Sampras didn't, McEnroe Didn't, Chang didn't. Courier didn't. Wozniacki's father was a soccer star. Kim Clijsters father was a soccer star, mom -national gymnastics champion. Kutznesova -father cycling coach, mother world champion. Lindsay Davenport's father was on the olympic team as a volleyball player. Sloane Stephens father was a football pro, mother an All-American swimmer.

Europe considers girls soccer a joke. They don't even start playing club until the girls are 11 or 12.

My three girls started playing club at 5 or younger. It's serious here and here alone.

But that is starting to change slowly.

But the equal pay thing is a no go, especially when 14-year-old boys wipe the floor with the women's team. Long way to go there when you have almost empty stadiums most of the entire world cup.

My guess: to be a professional athlete, one must be socially conditioned, brought up, in the male stereotype. That is taught to go after what one wants, be aggressive and competitive. With professional athlete parents, it's more likely a female is instilled with those values as opposed to the stereotypical female virtues of patience, acceptance and passive team play.

I called her un American for kneeling and not honoring the country! Period.

Glancing through your hate filled commentary, that exact word came to my mind as well. "Period."

That's part of the dynasty. There have, since its inception, been 8 Women's World Cups. The US has won 4, including that one, and finished at least third every Cup.

If an NFL team wins the Superbowl 4 out of 8 years, and makes their Conference Championship game the other 4 years, that's a dynasty.

It's perhaps the greatest World Cup dynasty of all time including men.

That might well be the case.

the US Men's Olympic basketball team is probably the greatest team sports dynasty in history. Not a world cup though. One could argue UCLA's basketball teams were as well

The US currently has two world dynasties, men's basketball and women's soccer. Historically, maybe a little golf? I can't think of other historical dynasties.

One might argue the Gators represent a world dynasty unparalleled.

US swimming is equally as dominant. for years basketball was a secondary sport internationally and that was the case of women's soccer, but swimming is an international sport
