Jesus is Lord, not the Pope.
Actually Jesus runs the bodega which has the two for one special on Tuesday Taco night.
Jesus is Lord, not the Pope.
I like him mostly, and I am a former catholic (K-12). He is a million times better than the corrupt old fool he replaced. There is finally a pope that is willing to have a bit of an open mind on some of the more stringent and nonsensical dogma of the church.
Lets see, His weak and accommodating stance on homosexuality, then in a time of a declining and aging population, particularly in Europe, he has made statements against the tradition of large families, has accepted the outlandish lie of climate change, additionally his stances with environmentalists on things that have a true benefit to all mankind such as fracking, has contradicted the former Pope on whose realization that Marxism-Socialism is a failed system, has even called for redistribution of wealth on a state scale, the changes he has made to church policy regarding marriage and divorce... I think you get the drift and those are a few of the more obvious ones.
I voted "other".
#1) I'm not a catholic
#2) I'd simply say he's a far better Pope than previous Popes. Keep in mind that's 100% relative.
He has commented on other countries - is that permitted? The pope should stay out of US presidential politics. Trump's plan to secure the border is not much different than that of most other republicants - Trump is more adamant about "mass" deportation but other than making Mexico pay for our wall is not unique.
I find it odd that a pope living in a walled city/state would find fault with building border walls or controlling immigration. Singling out Trump for special papal attention and the added free "news" publicity it brings will not likely have the desired affect.
Then, a political candidate shouldn't ever talk religion, or try to change laws to reflect his particular religious bent, how about that?
Hahaha. For a change, we have a pope who reflects the actual views of Jesus and it pisses conservatives off to no end. "How dare he care about the poor as Jesus did!" "How dare he promote equality among fellow humans as Jesus did!" This is Christianity 101. Again, I'm not religious in any way, and I believe religion is one of the biggest problems in our country, but if you're going to claim to be a 'believer', at least abide by the tenets of said religion.
While I do like him and some of the things he's done, it seems to me that he wants to be as much of a political figure as a religious one. I'm even ok with that but the he should expect the same push back and criticism as any other politician.
I like him. He is fairly blunt, not bothering to meet with aides to find out what he's supposed to think/say on every issue. As such, he has made some missteps, such as aiming his remarks at Trump, while simultaneously tarnishing tens of millions of Americans who really do want that damned wall built, and still consider themselves Christian. It was a Pope-y boo-boo, which shows that even the Holy Father is still human!

I'm not sure the Pope really wants to be a political figure, rather I think that he's commenting on issues ion order to state a new presence of position for the church that people can listen to without having to wonder about it.

Very well said and expresses my feelings exactly. Though I am Catholic, I wince nearly everytime he gives another hasty press interview.
The pope supports illegal immigration because most Mexicans are catholic and he wants to fill his pews.

really?
'cause I smile
When you have the left, who hate any kind of organized religion and are mostly atheistic, all supporting and liking the Pope, while conservatives dislike him, it's time to sit up and take notice that maybe there is something wrong with this Pope.
He's a typically uniformed left wing hack who's made the foolish decision to comment on issues that are beyond his conprehension
He's not a God, no one should worship him or pray to him, he is a Man
