YAY!! Walmart steps up!

Moderator's Warning:
Moved to Gun Control

How is Walmart not selling a product infringing on YOUR liberty? Where in the constitution does it state that every store has to carry a product YOU want?

It would be akin to a restaurant saying they will no longer serve goose liver pate and somebody claiming they are being starved and their life is in jeopardy.

buh my goose liver plates!!!!!!!!!! They are protected by the constitution ya know?

I totally agree.
You want to drastically reduce the homicide rate caused by guns, then get the illegal guns off the streets in the intercity.

only one way to do that, ban all guns

i agree with you, it is time to go there

What I want to know is, who the hell is buying their guns at Walmart? Ammo, absolutely. Weapons?

I can't image a person leaving Walmart on the phone going, "Honey, I've got the eggs, milk, diapers and the shotgun"

I've done just that

There is something seriously wrong culturally with this country. The US suffers from an addiction to firearms. Mix that with the "every man for himself, **** everyone else, I've got mine" attitude that's wired into the American psyche and you wind up with the mass shootings that we're now plagued with. The roots of inner city gun violence come from a different place that can be traced back 100 years. Mass shootings with high powered weaponry in schools and other public places are a relatively new phenomenon.

I think they sell a lot more ammo and guns than ordinary non-carrying citizens realize.

From what has been reported, gun and ammo sales are huge for Walmart. There was a gun days ago arrested entering a Walmart in Missiouri wearing a bulletproof vest carrying a loaded 'tactical rifle' and 100 rounds of ammo. He told police he was "protesting" against Walmart and was recording himself with his cellphone while walking through the store.

In a Facebook post from February, on a page police believe belongs to Dmitriy Andreychenko, he allegedly wrote "It's official. I hate Walmart. Apparently they won't sell Rifle and shotgun ammo if your [sic] under 21. 'New policy' However I can walk into the store with a loaded .40 and nobody says anything. What a joke."

Walmart bans open carrying guns in stores and stops selling some ammo - Business Insider

Walmart will bar shoppers from openly carrying guns in its stores and stop selling some ammunition in response to 2 deadly shootings.

Actually, they are discontinuing sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition like .223 and .556 and discontinuing hand gun sales in Alaska. They haven’t sold AR style rifles since 2015.

Dumb decision, as it will have exactly zero impact on gun crimes, but it’s their dumb decision to make.

Since 22 people were brutally murdered in one of their stores, they felt pressure to do something.

Walmart just announced that it's stepping back from gun sales and ammo sales. The story just broke but from what I heard they will no longer sell the 'assault-style' weapons and large ammo clips.

FINALLY
I thought Walmart has stopped selling long guns quite a while ago. So now, lower income shoppers won't be able to defend their family without paying higher prices. Wonderful news. :cool;

Prediction -- this will have zero effect on future mass shootings.

True, but it will reduce Walmart’s exposure to nuisance lawsuits, which I believe is their goal.

They appear to be selling guns, just not AR or AK style guns with large ammo mags. I am sure that shotguns, handguns and traditional hunting rifles will still be available for purchase

Yes, even if it’s stupid and pointless. As I stated in another post, I believe their goal was to reduce the possibility of nuisance lawsuits brought by people trying to hold them financially culpable for the criminal actions of others.

They haven’t sold hand guns since the 90s.

:lamo

This is hilarious...

"After selling through our current inventory commitments, we will discontinue sales of short-barrel rifle ammunition such as the .223 caliber and 5.56 caliber that, while commonly used in some hunting rifles, can also be used in large capacity clips on military-style weapons," Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in a memo to employees on Tuesday."

In other words we care....BUUUUUUUUUUT...we still want to make money off our sales. Lets not go all crazy and sacrifice profits for our beliefs....
