Will CBS axe Colbert earlier than the pre-announced May, 2026 cancellation?

Will CBS prematurely cancel the Late Show or allow Colbert to do what he wants?

They're not going to fire him at all. They just got Trump off their jock for a while.

Yes, bookmark this post for the facts.

They have sued Trump how many times? 250

Here's the list.

Life without a functioning Congress.

Why wouldn't they fire him. He costs the company more than he makes and he ran that show into the ground.

I believe his contract for late night's highest ranked show runs through next May, meaning they've already borne the cost.

If the show made money they wouldn't cancel it. Or he'll have another show at another channel I bet he doesn't.
It was canceled because of Trump’s fragile ego.

The other late night hosts, and comedians everywhere, are going to double down on their roasting of Trump.

So is trouble like a god that just controls everything everywhere all the time like if my dog dies is that Trump's fault?

Late hosts sure. The comedians all quit.

I don't think this will be too big a deal to Trump he's quite a comedian himself.

I don't think anyone will notice because nobody watches this trash. Stephen Colbert what did he like the second banana on the Jon Stewart show maybe even third banana.

I swear that show only exists because the money they got from Pfizer
Highest rated late night talk show by a mile.

What are you going on about? Did something happen to your dog?

Late hosts sure. The comedians all quit.
Comedians all quit? What?

Trump isn’t a comedian, but he is a joke.

I'm making fun of people that think Donald Trump is some supreme deity that controls everything.

Yeah the last one that was a comedian that did this job was Conan O'Brien. The stupid Jimmys aren't funny and Colbert got axed

That's because you don't get it.

Who cares if he stays or if he goes?
The guy isn't funny.
His guests are leftist TDS sufferers along with his viewers.
The company is losing money because trashing Trump doesn't produce large viewership and makes it almost impossible for them to sell advertising that pays the bills.

Well I wasn't into this sort of thing when Johnny Carson was around. But it's like most of what he did involved interviewing celebrities particularly movie stars sometimes the musicians even the politician here and there.

They're at celebrities anymore not the movies mostly people are sick and tired of hearing from these people so they would turn off the show like this and disgust if they saw Pedro Pascal sitting there gushing over some woman's nails.

He didn't think the comedian was serious. He thought the priming was serious.

Fascinating, then I guess we may need to reevaluate comedy as a whole and perhaps go back to the days where comedians just told jokes unrelated to current events.
🤭

You've heard the jokes to be funny need to have a kernel of truth have you not?
The kernel of truth in that scenario was that there was a supposed pee tape.

So what if you make a joke about something that just isn't true?
Then it becomes comedy about something that isn't true in much the same way comedians write comedy routines about all sorts of hypotheticals and things that are loosely based on their personal lives and current events.

Well if you put it on a comedy show, where a comedian makes fun of it (for being true) and then you see an audience "laugh" and clap then even though it isn't funny, later when the news has a "discussion" about those pee tapes, your brain will be primed into believing they must be true.
Ah, I see. So I suppose it's even more serious for statements not in the comedic context, for example claiming that a presidential incumbent was not an American citizen and his birth certificate was a fake.
:)

This Normative social influence is a big deal among the left. They don't have logic and reason. They have approval. When Colbert travels to Russia for an unfunny bit and you see audience member laughing and clapping at the "truth" of that joke, then they want to conform.
Applying a problematic study as a source and then double down on the silliness by claiming The Left™ have no logic and reason from a poster who has "Libtards" on his signature is a trifecta of not being a serious poster. Good job!

But the real issue is when someone just won't follow that conformity. They're just going to keep sayiing whatever they want to say no matter how much peer pressure you try to bring to bear on them. That's Trump in a nutshell. He's the guy that keeps telling the entire table the lines are not the length they are claiming. He not only does it once, but boasts, mocks and repeats it until the tables are turned.
So we've gone from comedy to "conformity", which I find an interesting thing coming from anyone supporting as homogenized group as the MAGAverse where dissent is not tolerated and those who don't toe the line get excommunicated. I suppose those in it get kudos for excelling at taking orders on how to think and what to parrot.

If you want to understand this going forward just put a little conformity filter into your inputs. Logic and reason do not need conformity anymore than telling which of the three lines the first line matches in length. It's simple to see. When the rest of the table uses statements of conformity to tell you your eyes are lying just tell yourself your eyes aren't lying.
We have the MAGAverse as a near limitless source of examples in conformity, so no need. I'm really eager to see Trump test the conformity levels of his base by saying the sun is green just to see how many will parrot that. I'm pretty sure you'll be on here citing a psychological study to make the case the sun is indeed green.
:)

So when someone does a comedy but about tapes that aren't real, then the comedy isn't funny because it's made up nonsense. You don't spend millions of extra dollars to the funny bits more funny. You spend millions of extra dollars to give unfunny bits the appearance of comedy for the sake of conformity.
You don't seem to understand humor well at all then. Comedy doesn't always have to be based on something real, but can be completely made up. There've been comedians who make jokes about made up scenarios between fictional characters etc. and it's funny. But sure, "conformity".
🤭

Guess not anymore.
You don't think this is the end of his career, do you? I'm sure the streaming services will be thinking up ways of luring him to any one of the services. I get the feeling this cancellation will be a positive for him in terms of other possibilities. The advantage of the new media landscape from a talent perspective is no one needs to rely on the major networks anymore.

No. He'll wind up doing a podcast
I'm sure the streaming services will be thinking up ways of luring him to any one of the services.
I don't think they can afford him

Doubt it

CBS is owned by a streaming service. Just looked he's been on streaming since 2021

No. He'll wind up doing a podcast
Probably a podcast and a streaming show. Anything is possible.

I don't think they can afford him
Netflix and Apple most certainly can.

I don't.

CBS is owned by a struggling streaming service which is late to the game of merging for leverage.

He's already out of streaming show that's getting canceled. But yes podcast is probably his future
Netflix and Apple most certainly can.
Oh how the mighty have fallen

But going to another streaming service that's struggling?
