Why you don't know anyone who died from COVID

At the inflated death claims by the CDC of 125,000, over 80% of those are over 65. Unless you have a grandma or granpa around or know someone in a nursing home, the chances are slim you would know anyone who died from it. But, for all those who attended the socialist public skool system here is the math for all 125,000 deaths:

3 people in ten thousand have die from it. Of those three, at least 2 are over 65
37 people in a hundred thousand have died from it. Of those, 30 of them were over 65 and just 7 under 65
378 people in a million have died from it. Of those 302 were over 65 and 76 were under 65
3,780 people in ten million died. Of those 3,024 were over 95 and just 756 were under 65
125,000 people out of 330 million have died. Of those 100,000 were over 65 and just 25,000 were under 65

Now you know that you can sleep well tonight. No more fretting and nail biting. Sleep tight.
I know 3 people who died of Covid and 1 is in critical condition right now. He’s 43 with no health problems. But it’s good to know that if my parents die it’s ok because they would have only lived another 16-30 years.

I don't remember saying that, but it's probably true. In terms of actual deaths, which are likely a third of those claimed, this is just another flu season. No biggie. But it IS an election year. If this were next year, it wouldn't have made a blip on the radar.
Sigh. I miss Mashmont. There was never a more prescient forum member.

I think wrongful death suits are always possible and many times appropriate.

Let me ask you a question. Why did you leave out the president?

The president didn’t force nursing homes, veterans homes, care facilities to take in Covid positive patients - my Governor did.

(And he did so while there was a Navy ship sitting off our coast that was practically empty)

The president didn’t close small businesses and deem them “non-essential” while leaving Walmart and liquor stores open - my governor did, resulting in 1/3 never re-opening.

Murphy issued executive orders that resulted in thousands of NJ citizens dying. And countless NJ businesses closing their doors forever.

His EO’s, he gets the blame.

Well, OK, maybe "anyone" is overstating it (just a wee bit of "exaggeration for emphasis" [to quote a Great Republican Statesman] - y'all kno).

Obviously you don't bother to read the posts from the more vocal members of "Claque Failed Casino Operator" who keep on claiming that almost no one has died from COVID-19 (because everyone dies sometime and most of the people who died also had some other ailment).
This is what I do know.
This is a virus we have to live with. The virus jumps from human to animal and back to human.
Until a more effective vaccine is found, we will have to get boosters every 6-9 months.
We need to protect those over 70 that have other health problems.

We need to get treatments thru the FDA pipeline.

Not just vaccines, treatments.

There’s a small company called Ampio Pharmaceutical that has both IV and inhaled treatments in Phase 2 of clinical trials showing incredible success and basically zero adverse impacts.

Why isn’t that getting EUA?

can either Trump or Biden be responsible for COVID deaths?

be careful how you answer.

I’ve never blamed either.

I blame Murphy for the Covid deaths directly related to his EOs and mandates that made facilities accept Covid positive patients that were not capable of isolating those patients and that didn’t have enough PPE for staff or residents. He was literally TOLD by these facilities they could not contain Covid and that if Covid positive patients were sent there, people would die.

Did Trump or Biden issue such EO’s?

uh oh. there are Trump Republicans here that are currently blaming Biden for excess deaths because he has NOT enforced the mandate and for not doing it earlier.

hey, @Metric Mouse , can you tell this poster why they're wrong?

Okeyyyy. All that means is those people were in the smaller group and possibly were obese or had existing conditions. Even if they didn’t is there some point?
Only one of the 3 had any major health issues.

What I am saying is that it dies not matter the age of the people dying. Who cares if more of the people dying are 25, 65, 95, male, female, healthy, not healthy. You can quote statistics all you want, yet ignore that over 700,000 have died. Age and health do not matter. The fact that you don't seem to care because Covid affects older people more just shows how out of touch with human decency you are. It does not matter whether your grandmother dies of Covid, or if your infant dies of Covid. A Covid death is a Covid death.

So far so good
We need to protect those over 70 that have other health problems.
Strike the "over 70" and you've got a deal.

Of course, the most (long-term) effective way of doing that is to reduce the incidence of those "other health problems" - but that simply ain't gonna happen.

So I’m wrong for not blaming the former or current president for EO’s issued by the governor of NJ?

I don’t follow your logic

patience. @Metric Mouse will explain how Presidents are responsible.
Nah. Presidents can't be responsible for anything, remember? They are basically helpless figureheads that have to wait for the States to solve national problems.

Biden hasn't implemented measures that would have saved lives because he's feckless. But that's not really his fault; it's an ingrained trait that he cannot overcome and therefore can not be blamed for anything that happens in the country. Holding Biden responsible for addressing national issues effectively is unfair.

Okay @BirdinHand do you now understand how presidents can be responsible for death during a pandemic? It came straight from the mouth of a Trump Supporter.

Does the office of the POTUS even have the authority TO do anything?

Serious question that I don’t know the answer to.

People blamed Trump and now blame Biden, but the powers of the President are rather limited in scope, by design, are they not?

Those questions are for @Metric Mouse

Trump supporters are the worst. They think a President shouldn't and can't do anything to effectively address a pandemic. We've had two Administrations and 760,000 dead that keep saying a president can't do anything.

Just as he used to explain how Presidents were NOT responsible.

I wonder what changed?
When did I do that?

I have not changed my stance; presidents should effectively address pandemics.

You, however, decide whether presidents can or cannot address national health crises based on their political party.

it's a mystery that humanity doesn't have the ability to solve.
And this is why we have 760,000 dead Americans. Biden voters don't really care about covid, and both Biden and Trump supporters don't think a president should do anything.

So I’m wrong for not blaming the former or current president for EO’s issued by the governor of NJ?

I don’t follow your logic
That's because there is no logic to @CaughtInThe arguments. They say a president is responsible when it's convenient and deny responsibility when it's not politically convenient. They're a typical Trump supporter.

Don't forget Cuomo, Whitmer and Wolf.

Don't forget Cuomo, Whitmer and Wolf.
They all had their own death counts they are responsible for.

Except, the federal investigations there have ceased. The only one left still under federal investigation is Murphy.
