Why don't these nuts ever get arrested?

It is their right to open carry in the state of michigan.
how many times does it have to be repeated before you understand it?
it can't be said in any more simply.

I am not asking about whether it is legal to open carry in Michigan, I am asking why they felt the need to take their firearms to a protest.

I don't feel any danger, just wondering why these protesters felt the need to carry firearms? Did they feel in danger? If not, why were they carrying?

Intimidation factor is the sole reason.

If this had happened at the White House there probably would have been wholesale slaughter.

There are at least 3 threads started about this topic and much of the commentary is filled with people literally crying and shrieking about oh my gawd American citizens exercising their rights carrying GUNS!!! they should all be locked up or SHOT!!!...meanwhile...no cops were attacked, assaulted, spat on, no property was damaged, heck...if their protest outside was like most conservative base protests it was probably cleaner when they left than when they got there.

Their purpose? Usually in that situation its twofold I reckon..1...because they are American citizens, have a Constitutional right and don't need a reason to exercise their right so **** YOU...and 2...because someone thinks it makes a more forceful point if they say "We The People" with a visual reminder that we DO have the right to keep and bear arms. And again...you and I would AGREE that in instances like this it probably isnt smart, NOT because anyone is going to use them or get hurt, but because raging leftists ****nuts will then use that as a springboard to attempt to pass new laws.

Wow... You realize that benign speech doesn't need to be protected, right? The ONLY cases where having a freedom of speech is relevant is where that speech is controversial. Someone being a "POS", as you put it, is exactly where Freedom of Speech is tested. Oh, and of course, the First Amendment doesn't make any exceptions for being a "POS"...

actually it isn't tested at all. I am free to call someone that knowingly and willingly lies about someone else in an effort to cause them damage a POS. there is no test about it.
cool thing about freedom huh.

Brandenburg has already set that standard and has been upheld in various other cases since then.

Oh, I know it...and it has no examples for someone being a "POS"... That's just gibberish that you want to somehow apply to the law.

Nope that is covered as well. As i said you should go back and re-read the constitution.
you evidently missed that chapter, but the reason we have it is to protect us from people with your type of mentality.

They can. again it can't be put anymore simply.
what part of that don't you understand?

They have a LEGAL right, in Michigan, currently to open carry... There is no constitutional right to open carry...

Thats such a ****ed up interpretation of the Constitution and state laws. The Constitution SPECIFICALLY addresses INDIVIDUAL rights and states laws are or should be subject to the Constitution. Money says you are not consistent in your stance when discussing topics like gay marriage. You would not allow for states to pass laws restricting rights not even FOUND in the Constitution, but you are perfectly fine with states limiting SPECIFICALLY ENUMERATED rights found in the Bill of Rights.

But in this situation, suffice it to say that there is no law banning citizens from open carrying firearms in the Michigan capital. INDIVIDUAL REPRESENTATIVES may bar citizens from carrying firearms in their personal offices...but not the public spaces of the Capital.

Do armed cops in the capital building cause you fear? Do they intimidate you?

This is a group of scared people whining that they can't go bowling and get hair cuts. They think showing up at a government office strapped will intimidate the governor into opening up. These stupid hillbillies are a threat and not because they're carrying their dick extensions on their backs. They're a threat because they are placing the health and safety of the public at risk. If these stupid ****s would hunker down(Aren't these people all about bug out bags, bunkers and stocking up for WW3?) the curve will bend faster and society can get back to normal. But no, they only see the importance of their personal immediate needs. The guns are nothing but a show of force. **** them.

Here is the text of the First Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Where is the exception for being a "POS", again?

Oh, that's right...it's not there. The courts have decided upon this exception, something you seem to admit when you cite Brandenburg. Thanks for proving my point.
Back to the start of this, again...yes, there can be reasonable restrictions to Freedom of Speech decided upon by the courts, which includes permits for protests, even if they aren't specifically spelled out in the First Amendment. This is because the courts have the power to interpret the law and can place reasonable restrictions on the First Amendment.

Scared? Whining? Dood...talk about "projecting". Not a single one of the few individuals carrying firearms in that group used their weapons in an intimidating manner in any way, shape or form, yet you and a bunch of other leftists not even in the same state are literally here on line pissing yourself over it.

Scared.

Scared? No...
Whining? No...

Amused? Yes...

And that would be illegal...right? Beeecccaaaaauuuuusssssseeee.......

White House security force would have done the slaughtering as soon as they saw the guns. Ever been to the White House? The fire power is of the shoot first ask questions later variety in this situation.

This is nuts and should be responded to.

Multiple armed gunmen storm Michigan’s State House, State police are protecting
@GovWhitmer and blocking the gunmen from gaining access to the house floor.

You're basing your opinion on a twitter post from a nobody Canadian?

Let's stick to the subject... is there a constitutional right to open carry?
"A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Keep and bear arms...

The Supreme Court has declared both that that includes military weapons a militiaman might reasonably be expected to carry (see US V Miller) and that the 2nd Amendment has a broad application beyond the militia (see US v Heller), then yes...of course...the people have the right to open carry. And its specifically enumerated in the Constitution. Hell..unlike gay marriage where neither homosexuality OR marriage is found anywhere in the Constitution, the right to keep and bear arms is unquestionable specifically addressed in our founding document.

Who in the **** are you trying to kid? They're aware that by solely carrying, they can send a message and intimidate. There is no other reason to show up armed. Nada Zero. Just because I can legally bring a cast iron skillet to a public swimming pool, doesn't mean that there is a rational or practical reason to do so
IF IT IS legal to show up in government building carrying firearms in Michigan, I strongly suspect that is going to change in the near future.

I would classify your response as 'amused'. Chinaski? The others? You couldnt even lie well enough to claim they arent unhinged over this.

No there wouldn't. Virginia just had a 25,000 strong armed protest at the governors office. Not a shot was fired.

They're a bunch of ***** ass "rugged individualists" melting down because they cant stuff their faces at OK corral and Bob Evans. They need to retreat to their safe spaces in their bunkers. And no armed cops don't intimidate me, but these hillbilly ****s that could kill my mother because they're likely spreading this virus do.

Because they weren't breaking the law. You not liking something doesn't make it illegal.
