Who is a Christian?

Nope. For claiming belief in the teachings of Jesus - though there are some contradictions among them - while acting in most un-Christ like manner.

In whose opinion is it an "unchristlike manner"? And what is it? Getting married is about as unchristlike as you can get.

So we need to define 'manner' on this fictitious character before we can decide.

Is the question really "Who is a legitimate Christian?" If so that's led to a lot of misery and horror over the centuries.

No. I presume you mean kind people and people who try to follow Jesus this guy but that's not what a legitimate Christian is garbage people can be legitimate Christians.

So no.

No, your presumption is incorrect.

History is rife with people and sects attempting to declare who is and who isn't a legitimate Christian, and the predictable monstrous results. I'm not declaring what is or isn't a legitimate believer, I'm saying the question itself is not only foolish but dangerous.

So no.

So what did you mean by legitimate Christians explain what makes a Christian legitimate please.
This is what I said, in full:

Is the question really "Who is a legitimate Christian?" If so that's led to a lot of misery and horror over the centuries.
I bolded the meaning of what I meant to make it easier for you.

In short, and to repeat? History has shown the question itself is an opportunity for misery and horror.

I didn't read past that sentence because what I was trying to assume was what the hell you meant when you type the words but it doesn't

What has?
In short, and to repeat? History has shown the question itself is an opportunity for misery and horror.
So when you say the phrase what the hell do you mean? Is it just that you have too many words in you and you need to type them out somewhere?

Well the Christians I know are divided in many categories:
1-those who claim to be Christian but hate others and are racist, sexist, anti-gay, are pedophiles, perverts, and screw their best friend's wife;
2-those who can not dance, just are not funny when they try to be, don't go out in the sun, have alcohol abuse issues;
3-those who have personal hygiene issues;
4-those who play golf all the time in clubs and think people with tans serve them at those cluvs;
5-those who think Jews are rich, stingy, involved in Zionist conspiracy theories, killed Jesus, are Satanist and look like Muslims so deserve what they get;
6-those who tried to be stand up comics but just were not funny at all;
7-others who do not have the traits in 1-6 and whose definition depends on their individual specific beliefs, behaviors and so for me to say who Christians are is absurd as each Christian defines themselves I don't define them and 1-6 was just said to point out the question for this subject matter presumes one person can define what other Christians should be based on their own subjective beliefs which I think is stupid.

Not a bad response. For followers of Christ those red letters should take precedence over all others, shouldn't they.

It’s right there in the name. Christian.

The problem is largely one of human nature - following the red words confers little by way of wealth, renown, temporal power, or even basic creature comforts.

I know they are beyond my abilities.

Christianity is a very difficult religion.

Why do you think people like @cpwill call themselves “Pro-Life” and call it a day? It’s a lot easier than actually following Christ.

"The Bible" in the book accepted by the majority of Protestants is a collection of 66 books, 39 Old Testament (Tanakh) and 27 New Testament. The Roman Catholic Church's Bible has 73 books; the additional seven are known as the Apocrypha. Greek and Russian Orthodox churches accept 79 books, while the Ethiopian Orthodox faith has 81 books.

Funny how so many who call themselves Christian can't agree with others who call themselves Christian.

Another subject on which Christians can't agree is the dating of the books found in the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Recent scholarly work has been looking at the possibilities that the Old Testament books were all written during the Alexandrian period at the Library of Alexander in the Third and Second Centuries BCE, while the New Testament texts were created in the second half of the Second Century CE.

Of course, I expect some responses that will argue for earlier dating for these old books, while others who frequently post here may have me on "Ignore".
Everyone who thinks christ was real and died for their sins.

Even though each christian religion differs on how, why, and what.

GOD works through the HOLY SPIRIT to reveals HIS truth in the Bible. In this way Christians both study the Word seeking the truth and mature in their faith. The Christian is answerable to the LORD and not Church tradition. Moses who was once an Egyptian prince (the adopted son of Pharaoh's daughter) wrote the first 5 book of the Bible.
Moses spoke Egyptian, not Hebrew.

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness
Isaiah 45:7

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Isaiah 45:7

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
What version of the Bible does that come from?

ESV

“I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the Lord, who does all these things.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭45‬:‭7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness
Some, but not all Christians have the belief scripture was breathed out by God. That belief is not a requirement.
