Who believes in horoscopes? - And who knows the signs of the Zodiac?

I find astrology really entertaining and interesting. I don't put full stock in it, but I'm also not offended by it. My view is pretty neutral as I am not well studied in it.

When I was younger I paid to have my birth chart read by an astrologer who had been doing that kind of thing for 30 years or so, and it was really fascinating. It's all food for thought really. I don't claim to know how it works or if it even does.

Yeah, no. Its all BS.

As are crystals. Healing gems, etc. All BS design to part o
Superstitious people from their money.

I once went with my wife to psychic, didn't go well. I felt bad for her, but hey, I paid her all the same.

My guess is, that hardly anybody believes in horoscopes - at least not openly.
But nearly everybody knows the signs of the Zodiac,
Am I right? ;)

As for me, I do not believe in horoscopes.
But I know my signs.

I am twin - or GEMINI - in the European system
- and a dog according to the Chinese system.

And on January 25th the Year of the Rat will start - if anyone wants to know.

I don't since there's no reason the stars determine our destinies....not to mention the fact the stars have shifted the past two thousand years.

That said, as a student of psychology, there is something to be said of personality differences in people born in different seasons. I'll stick with Northern European culture for examples:
A child born in Fall will have very close attention of both its parents until Spring but a child born in Spring will not have that same initial closeness since its parents will be out tilling the fields.

While on the subject, there is evidence about differences in personality based on birth order. Like which season a person is born, it's a generalization, but individuals vary.

I think it's all about getting people to focus on aspects of their lives.

I don't believe a word of that nonsense. I'm a Sagittarius with Sagittarius rising. I was born on the cusp of Sagittarius and Capricorn.

I hope my questions were not too private.
Are you really afraid to answer my questions?
Do you fear that something terrible will happen to you if you do? ;)

I thought it might have been a nice topic. :)

Well, sure....it's a good topic and all that, but I'm busy celebrating my name day, so I can't talk right now.;)

There is also the Celtic Tree Horoscope

Celtic Druids did not try to read fate from stars; they were connecting the birth of people with certain trees. They had a deep respect for trees which they showed for example by asking tree that they cut down for forgiveness.

Just like the zodiac signs, individual trees represent the characteristics of people born in a given period. The tree can be in a tree circle once, twice or four times.

And here you can find out which tree you are:

Celtic Tree Astrology was based on the lunar calendar, so it has 13 astrological signs, rather than the 12 we know in 2014. The Druids designated a tree to each of the 13 moon phases in their calendar, in accordance with the tree’s magical properties.

The myth: That marriages and romantic relationships of people who have favorable Zodiac signs are more compatible and successful.

The science: A major study of divorces in a Midwestern city showed that couples were getting divorced at a uniform rate regardless of what Zodiac signs they had. (Source: "Pseudoscience and the Paranormal," by Terence Hines),

there are two kinds of people in the world.

Scorpios, and the ones that wish they were.

See, the best way to do that is to turn off your radio during the morning commute, and get inside your own head.

One person did it by letting you misbehave and fail to support your wife during what should have been a fun event. The psychic wasn't a threat to you or your relationship. No reason to get excited.

I didn't misbehave, its just that she was wrong on all counts, for both me and my wife. I went genuinely curious.

"It didn't go well" refers to something other than everyone's expectation of a failed cold read.

Oh, no, I meant it didn't go well for her.

I was hugely curious about it, my wife is more a believer than me...to use an X-Files quote (love that show), "I want to believe."

I once did some ghost hunting back in the day, too. Never found, saw, or heard anything that I couldn't rationally explain.
