"White House seeks to clarify Trump remarks on emergency"

you might not like that when it comes to a President declaring a national emergency to rid you of your guns.

I understand what you are saying Clara, however, your premise is wrong...Trump is not abridging anyone's Constitutional rights by declaring the building of a border barrier as a National Emergency at a time where families and children are in danger trying to get in this country illegally. In fact, he is protecting the nation...In your scenerio it would be being used to usurp the Constitution. A better argument for you would be to use Climate Change as your scenerio for the use of it...Depending on what would be done with it ofcourse....

I know this is really hard for a Trump supporter, really difficult to process.

But Trump said something, categorically, unbelievably stupid, like, just mind blowingly stupid after declaring the national emergency, it defies imagination.

I know that is inconvenient and I don't know what Helix being a staff member, has anything to do with calling the President a dolt, when he's being one, but, that's a little stupid there as well.

That's your opinion...

Trump just made it much, much broader. This is a Pandora's Box that is unlikely to end with Trump.

Oh come on, it was a Pandora's box the minute Congress willingly gave up it's power in 1976....

Here's the list of National Emergencies, still in force today, by President that instituted them...How many of these can you really say were done, not geo politically, but in the national interest....?

Here'''s a list of the 31 national emergencies that have been in effect for years - ABC News

So you are calling the President "the lowest common denominator"

How refreshing for a Trump advocate to admit he is the lowest common denominator.

Refreshing, but usuless....since his base will applaud him despite his ongoing hateful rhetoric and outright unprecedented level of lying.

But he luckily has the Mueller Team to at least drain part of the swamp.....

Oh good grief....No Y2L, that is what YOU were inferring he was....And that was why you said you were responding the way you were...Please keep up with what you yourself are arguing .....

So he declares a national emergency and then heads down to his "Winter WH" to play golf. Coulter was right.

That lying bitch sold her soul to the devil when she took that job. I hope she reads her Bible before beddy bye and remembers that God damns all liars to Hell.

As far as them trying to contain Trump's mouth, there is a better likelihood that we'll see Stephen Hawking representing England in the next Olympics, running the Marathon.

She is just like The Toddler.

Man, you just gotta roll your eyes at some of the ridiculous statements in here

Tres - "That lying bitch sold her soul to the devil when she took that job...."

Helix (staff member) - "he's such a dolt." (way to show leadership there buddy...

year2late - "He should only get one scoop tonight." (chuckle worthy)

3 within the first 10 postings...None of them about the subject matter. Nothing even near "civil discourse". Just plain childish rage...Some people need professional help.
But Trump is a dolt. He literally tanked his own argument (both logically and likely legally) within minutes of making it. I've seen 5th graders argue better than Trump did today.

We both know you and I rarely agree on politics, but taking all politics out of this, what Trump said today was profoundly hurtful to his case.

You Trump supporters can't call him out or Sanders for the lying snakes that they are. Don't pretend that you have a single ounce of cred.

I don't disagree with you Sly, but the fact remains that Presidential power to declare a National Emergency is Pretty damned broad....Democrats best option would actually be AOC's, in starting a joint resolution to scuttle the whole thing....Then we can place the blame where it belongs IMHO, and that is on Ryan's lap.

Your hatred is of no concern to me.

Dude, you clearly put me down with the lowest common denominator. In that discussion that would have been Trump, But understandably you are trying to weasel your way out of your words.:lamo

I would hope even the base supporters of Trump could understand and agree on the bolded. They may disagree with the intent of his words, but they should be able to understand how harmful Trump's words were to his case.

Not at all....Read it again...Then if you still don't understand it, again....You were trying to be snarky, and bashing Trump as usual, so, I basically was saying that you were sinking to his level if that's how you feel....But, Obviously you are just not bright enough to see that, and have to have it explained....

You give them WAY too much credit.

"White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Friday sought to clarify President Trump’s statement that he “didn’t have to” declare a national emergency at the border, but did so to speed up construction of his long-promised wall."

“I could do the wall over a long period of time. I didn’t need to do this, but I’d rather do it much faster,” Trump conceded."

White House seeks to clarify Trump remarks on emergency | TheHill

Appears Trump blew it in his own proclamation, "didn't have to" and "didn't need to do this" are going to be the central theme of every lawsuit stemming from his "emergency." Tough to defend something as an "emergency" when you preface it with "didn't have to" and "didn't need to do this." Even beer belly Brett is going to struggle rationalizing that one

Trump's advisers much live in fear every time he drifts away from the teleprompter

I've said many times that the man-child is his own worst enemy. What a complete moron. Can't wait for the court battles that will take years to resolve.

Sinking to the lowest common denominator which by your words - you feel is Trump.

They'll stand in the streets with their guns and claim today never happened. Mark my words.

So he declares a national emergency and then heads down to his "Winter WH" to play golf. Coulter was right.

After admitting himself that his pretended "emergency" isn't necessary, he leaves town for a little tanning and putting. Gosh, I hope my door locks are in good condition.
