"White House seeks to clarify Trump remarks on emergency"

In other words, our President and the GOP congressmen that have abandoned their responsibilities to let him get away with it.

Yes, but the abdication you describe correctly is a bipartisan effort, though maybe that's starting to change.....

Sinking to the lowest common denominator which by your words - you feel is Trump.
At times he can be, as we all can be...the real take away is that you are no better.

Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).. but Debate Politics Style - ( not the usual cesspool message board filth)
All I was saying is basically all this rage is not good for people's health....And it certainly is NOT debate.

Maybe you missed Trump's own words from the OP's article ---
President Trump’s statement that he “didn’t have to” declare a national emergency at the border, but did so to speed up construction of his long-promised wall.
No, no...I caught that and did one of these...:doh

Very few people of even minimal conscience or education are not better examples of decency or basic humanity than Donald Trump. Most high school students are also better educated on civics and history and economics....he does seem to be quite skilled in the tactics and motivations of dishonest mafia organizations.

And so once again, we have another case of "What Trump really meant was...."

It must be one of those days that ends in a "y"

Too easy. Without clicking on the article I'm gonna guess...

"He meant it didn't need to come to this, if only there had been some honest cooperation".

That probably is what he meant. I doubt he would flaunt the absurdity of the moment.

It doesn’t matter what he meant. What matters is how the courts interpret his words. And you can bet that plaintiffs will be quoting Trump on this.

He’s such an idiot.

Congress did act. They resolved this disaster on Thursday. Then Trump's brainless ass made it 1000% worse on Friday.
facile response to my point Congress cannot act to solve any problem -I specifically mentioned immigration reform.
but border security is manifestly lacking as well

Facile? You're literally wrong. Maybe you just trade in hyperbole. Either way, despite my deep disgust for Congress, you're simply incorrect that "Congress cannot act to solve any problem", although I get that about a third of the US is desperate to kiss Trump's sorry ass over this disaster.

uh huh. We got 900,000 in detention and the last 2 months of 2018 we arrested 52k crossing the border - doesn't look like any problem solving to me.

Context matters: If you listen to the clip, he is answering a question about doing it for the 2020 election.

Context matters.

Leftists strike again.

A Leftist Nothing Burger.

Tell that to the courts, comrade.

Donald stepped in it once again.

Trump 2017: “And in fact when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said 'you know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story”

Trump 2018: “So I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down. I'm not going to blame you for it.”

Trump 2019: “I didn't need to do this”

The Orange Dumpster Fire just can’t keep his mouth shut.

So now you want illegal immigration to reach zero before you consider the problem "solved"? You first said Congress didn't act, which was untrue. Then you said it can't "act" to "solve any problem", which was also untrue. Now you say that it hasn't solved the problem of illegal immigration. We could have saved some time if you just admitted that you exaggerated to defend Trump's indefensible action.

3 within the first 10 postings...None of them about the subject matter. Nothing even near "civil discourse". Just plain childish rage...Some people need professional help.

Yes, that's what we're talking about Donal Trump. The childish, raging, "unable to engage in civil discourse" president, that many of us believe needs professional help.

How would you characterize POTUS and his non-stop lying, antics, hyperbole, childish behavior, raging, etc?

On par with how most members of Congress and politics act as a whole, hell it's even bigger now, it's on par with how society acts as a whole, and Trump isn't the cause, he's a symptom.

This board, hell this thread is littered with posts of people being uncivil towards each other because they disagree, it's brutal.

Trump made a huge mistake by saying he didn't need to do this now, regardless of what he meant, does it mean the end of the National Emergency no, but it gets that much tougher to defend it in court.

You can act like he is the only one that is uncouth, lying, or engaging in hyperbole, but all it does is point you out as one susceptible to media bias and group think.

You can be critical of anyone without being disrespectful, and regardless of the President's act, Washington and society as a whole has forgotten how to do that.

agree a bad thng ,but Congress can barely even pass spending bills anymore -much less immigration reform..
so I figure the Constitution will bounce back whenever Congress decides to engage itself again...meanwhile the void of any action gets filled.

Oh look, the Constitution will bounce back. What another amazing flip flop from the right. For 8 years we had to hear conservatives parroting their conservative masters "wah wah Obama is shredding the constitution" over and over. Now magic presto, it'll bounce back. thanks for the laughs Ann. Its good to see your humor isn't limited to just one topic. And I see you continue to use hyperbole in place of facts. Its just what conservatives (and conservative like posters) have to do.

You are comparing the office of the President of the United States, with anonymous internet forums? Tell me you didn't.

Who said he's the only one? Strawman gets you a fallacy, you've lost.

Because someone is disrespectful back to Trump, therefore Trump's behavior is not the issue? Sounds like more fallacy.

Sad attempt at defending a trashy, uncouth, disrespectful, child of a president.

911 OPERATOR: "What's your emergency?"
TRUMP: "I just wanted to say, I really don't need to do this. I just want it done faster."

you are addressingmy hyperbole -yes, but you are not addressing the idea that Congress cedes it's powers by inaction. Once Congress decides to "act" ( almost an oxymoron) then their enumerated powers would kick in

not at all. I'm saying illegal immigration is out of control, and I'm saying a wall would significantly cut it down.

Congress is unable to pass immigration reform

The numbers are worse then most know. .
52k arrested in Nov and Dec last month each for illegal crossing (mostly asylum claims)
So actual DHS numbers before Congress will reinforce it IS an emergency, with 600k projected this year

Nah. But I'm glad we both had fun watching you pretend that.

Yay! Fun!

Who said I was defending anyone? You've clearly just illustrated my point, appreciate it.

Congress is unable to pass immigration reform

Congress has been unable to pass comprehensive immigration reform for forty years. What you continue to falsely claim to me and other posters is that Congress won't act at all. You're either lying or exaggerating, but I grow weary of it.

Wall?....trump can shove that wall up his ass...Maybe his bigoted supporters will build it
