I opposed all those Republican attempts to impeach Clinton for the same reasons I oppose the current efforts to impeach Trump. It was all partisan politics, and a desperate desire to impede a seated Administration's efforts to effect policy.

The people who would testify are the people who took the notes and the actions because they listened in on the call as a part of their duties.

Investigators to include an IG proceed one step at a time or didn't you guyz know this over there. We don't need to be an investigator or a prosecutor to know the first thing they do is to establish the facts and who the principals are. Then they bring the people in and test 'em against the facts. We're talking about the intelligence agencies and Congressional investigators and so on.

Yet the Right is trying to defend a potus who is his own worst enemy. Trump's motto is that when the going gets worse the worst get even worse. This is national security, defense, sovereignty. This is the Trump who stood beside Putin and said US intelligence organizations mean nothing in the face of Putin's lying eyes. And Trump's.

It is unprecedented by a potus which makes it more serious than a heart attack. Putin-Trump Rowers meanwhile continue to give Trump mouth to mouth.

A well stated summary if I may presume to say that.

Libertarian Right are a particular study too. They're so far in the closet they don't even drape their armband on the bedroom wall for fear of anyone finding out. Their need is powerful to be viewed as balanced, reasonable, fair and so on despite the fact they're as far over at the right as Mussolini was. They are moreover more determined and unrelenting than the most open extremist armband conservatives are. In discussions the belief prevails that he who posts last wins. Which is another reason so many threads go on forever.

What occurred in 1999 was absolutely partisan and based on a technicality after the GOP put Clinton in an impossible situation. It was to simply admit that he cheated to the whole world, or lie about it to Congress. And that is what they got him on, not the cheating.

What is happening now involves a very real betrayal of trust on the international stage, in which Trump has freely offered up his own evidence. We have here a seated President who obviously sought to employ a foreign government's assistance in harming American citizens for his own political gain in a future election. It involves national security and the security of our allies in the face of an enemy, in which even Trump's 2017 National Security Strategy declares. This is treachery. And this is merely the latest performance from this piece of ****.

Pretending that the two are anywhere near the same ball park is dishonest. The only thing partisan about this is the Conservative mindset to callously dismiss the obvious. But as I have noted again and again, you people have traveled down a path of extreme partisanship for so long that you imagine that everyone is playing the same game. Cheaters, liars, and thieves simply assume that "everybody does it," thus they legitimize their own behavior. You snipped my post where I did reply in full to what you wrote. Can you get anymore dishonest?

The basic problem is that if one views the phone call, just that, the problems are obvious and serious. If that's not enough, nothing will be enough. There's nothing the whistleblower can say that will change your mind. Either you are OK with the President effectively shaking down a foreign country for assistance in smearing his political opponents or you are not. You've decided it's OK, while pretending to need more facts before deciding. No one is buying it.

That's especially true since nothing so far has come out to mitigate or justify what we see in the phone call. Not a single alleged fact has been challenged as false. The whistleblower complaint piles onto it because, for starters, the way the WH handled that call is obvious evidence they knew IMMEDIATELY it was politically toxic, disastrous, and it implicates the AG in this disaster. And we also know before and after the call Trump blocked the money for reasons no one seems to know because it changed. And we know the State Department and DoJ are running from any involvement in this mess (Rudy? Who dat?), like the guilty will. We know why the DNI was hesitant to forward it to Congress and why Barr and company promptly buried it without even notifying Congress it existed or what was in general the contents. That is unprecedented, and it's ALL damning.
