Found a great video which explains the 2nd Amendment and what "well regulated" means.
YouTube

Well regulated means capable of effectively dying in place while holding a line. It means the line will not break and run. That requires training, equipment and vestment.

Yep, and that certainly does not mean allowing the government to place restrictions on magazine capacity.

It means legal ownership of various types of guns appropriate to various situations in order to facilitate proficiency in various circumstances. It also means access to associations that encourage training and practice. Access to a wide variety of firearms equipment, training and associations is inherent to 'well regulated'.

I agree that basic gun safety education/training should be made available to all.

At an age young enough to save children's lives. All it takes is one child going directly to an adult when an unsafe situation arises.

Well regulated meant "kept in good working order." As to the state of the militiaman, you can judge Washington's expectations of citizens...that they keep their weapons well regulated, that they be trained in their use, and that each person carry a minimum of 20 rounds of ammunition for use in battle if called upon.

The federal government did not have so much as a 'Militia Act" to be used and 'regulated' when the 2nd Amendment was written. The Militia Acts were not even written until years after the 2nd Amendment was not just written but debated and ratified.

So the Second Amendment says you can hsve guns as long as they don't need to be fixed?

The problem with the right's interpretation is that it basically has resulted in s completely disorganized militia. It's not a well-regulated militia, it's chaos.

Is being uneducated in gun safety the fault of those who were not offered training? The solution to chaos seems simple enough - include gun safety education in our public K-12 system.

gun banners and restrictionists want to pretend that the second amendment was intended to give the federal government power that was not listed in Article One, Section 8

Nonsensical response. Try harder.

In any case, it doesn't matter what the phrase "well-regulated" means. It's use as an adjective to modify the word militia. It doesn't refer in any way to the actual right being protected by the 2nd Amendment, which is the right to keep and bear arms.

They've got many schools that teach such stuff, some of them are really good I can tell you from my own experience.

That's a good idea, it sure beats learning advanced Shakespeare.

Our Constitution is our supreme law of the land.

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

Well Regulated is whatever Congress prescribes it to be.

more bot speak. well regulated is not relevant to individuals and their rights

The People are the Militia. You are either well regulated or unorganized. Only the unorganized militia complains about gun control.

It's not possible to have an organized and properly functioning militia, if the members of the militia don't have firearms or know how to use them.

Of course...which is why the 2nd Amendment to the Bill of Rights guaranteeing the rights of the PEOPLE (by limiting the powers of government) to keep and bear arms is without legitimate question.

PEOPLE complain about gun control. People are the militia.

You know that there are at least three recognized form/types of militias, right?

The right to bear arms shall not be infringed. What do you think "shall not be infringed" means?

I'm 110 percent behind requiring a gun safety course to get a permit.

They believe it means "shall be well-regulated," apparently.

"Regulated: and "infringed" are two different words with different meanings. Infringe does not mean to limit.
