What was the first concert you ever attended?

No city can rock out like Detroit. I saw many concerts in Detroit. I am not sure what was more fun, the concert or partying on the roof of Cobo Hall prior to the concert.

Motown had such a positive impact on the rock field; I can only imagine what the parties were like on the roof of Cobo Hall before the concert began; probably helped them shape their "sound".

First concert I even attended was Men at Work. I was about 16, I think. Funny thing, INXS were brand-spanking new and opened for them. I was familiar with one of their songs, but only because I listened to a radio station that played a lot of new and/or out there stuff. I was enjoying them but believe it or not, they got booed off the stage! Men at Work were so big at the time that the fans did not want to wait.

Three years later, I went to see INXS play the same venue; only this time the closing act to a sold out audience.

First two times I saw the Doors live, they were booed off the stage. Audiences didn't approve of masturbating microphone stands.

I would have loved it. Big Doors fan here....

I enjoyed both shows, and was dismayed. Of course, the following year, people were bragging "The Doors played here last summer." :rofl

About a year later, I caught a performance by a fellow with a Morrison (I want to be him complex) organist named Peter Zapagee. Peter sounded exactly like Jim, looked nothing like him, blond hair, looking somewhat like Tom Petty. Built quite a following performing covers. Then suffered a major motorcycle accident, massively disfigured and disappeared. About ten years later I found him playing organ everyday at St. Peter's Cathedral in Manhattan. He still plays there every Sunday.

Both excellent groups; I got to see Men At Work at a rehearsal for Saturday Night Live back in the early 80's; my god they sounded so good and I was seated only about 10 feet from where they were rehearsing.

The Osmonds at the Ohio State Fair in 1975.

Candlebox didn't get booed off but they got zero response from the audience that was waiting for them to make way for Metallica. The only time they had a response was when, after a song fell flat to the crowd, the lead singer said, "Wow, you guys must really be ready to see Metallica" and then the crowd when nuts. He then said, "well let us play two more songs and we'll get out of the way."

The big question is:

Are you a little bit country or are you a little bit rock and roll?

I always preferred rock and roll to country but I always preferred Marie to Donnie by far. So I'm a bit confused there.

Guess who they were the opening act for...

Bill Cosby.

He's a little bit rapey.

I'm sure most of you have been to at least one concert in your life so the question is: what was the first concert you ever attended?

For me, It was The Beatles, at Shea Stadium in 1964.

It was a performance of Berlioz' Requiem. I still remember it to this day when the brass quartets placed around the hall and massed kettle drums turned the place into a thrilling mass of sound!

Yep, for us aliens Western classical music is still the music of choice.
