Aphrodite's Child - The Four Horsemen

In 1964 my aunt gave me a studio album of the Animals, featuring Eric Burden and Sonny Boy Williams. I wore it out in six months, bought another copy. Taped it on my father's new Ampeg. The two of us wore out that tape in three months, taped it again, repeat and rinse over the years.

Many years later found this live version on youtube, and I feel privileged to hear it and share it.

If this story and performance doesn't move you, nothing will. I cried like a baby. 37 years behind bars an innocent man.

Thank you for posting that, his story does move me, my heart goes out to him....such an injustice. Pleasure to see this man finally free, and singing with his beautiful voice. Bless him and his family, I wish him nothing but the best.

Widespread Panic - Counting Train Cars

Del Shannon was much more popular in England and Australia than he was in the US. On a tour of Australia with other music acts towards the end of 1964, Del asked the Searchers if they were interested in a song he had written and he played it for them. They declined, but Peter and Gordon heard Del playing "I Go To Pieces" for the Searchers and asked him if they could record it instead. He said sure.....

Peter & Gordon - I Go to Pieces

* A few months earlier Del intended to record this song in a session at Mira Sound Studios NYC, but he ran out of session time. Del finally recorded a cover of his own hit in March 1965
