Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

Starts slow, rough around the edges but quickly gets into rhythm, Ginger Baker playing an old favourite of mine in Madrid.

Brilliant, especially as I was just listening to Tony Allen's Asiko.

Ginger Baker, Tony Allen... talk about masters of rhythm. Love afrobeat.

A lot of pop music today is, to be nice, junk, but every once in a while a talented artist (e.g., Lady Gaga) comes along to rescue the genre. Sia is one of those. And Maddie Ziegler (for those who don't know her, the teenage dancer in several of Sia's videos) adds the special element that makes the music videos really inspirational and just a pleasure to watch.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Red Eyes And Tears

do yourself a favor and listen to this virtuosity

while the Grateful Dead are my favorite American band, its hard to argue against stating that the ABB was the greatest. four of the top US guitarists of all time played in that Band (Duane, Dickie, Warren and Derek) and Gregg has one of the greatest blues vocals ever

Duane was a session player in Mussel Shoals when he talked Wilson Picket into recording a cover of Hey Jude. Picket didn't want to but Duane talked him into it. They recorded it on the first take. Duane's playing on that song turned out to be the break that got Duane going. When Eric Clapton heard Picket's Hey Jude he reportedly had to find out who the session player was. It was Duane.

so many good tunes from EC: this wonderfully understated tune might be my favorite from him

I have hundreds. Best concert I've ever attended.
