We're in a permanent coup

They elected a corrupt dud and suddenly it's a coup.

God Almighty.

We are not in a "permanent coup," what is happening to Trump is what should happen.

I'm not sure that you are reading this correctly. "stems from the belief" doesn't mean this is actually Taibbi's belief.

I've read Matt Taibbi many times in Rolling Stone. He is the best writer on politics in this country, hands down.

Do you realize that Taibbi has called Trump "dangerous" and "insane" on numerous occasions, too many to count? And now you are quoting him?

Listen to any of his Useful Idiots podcasts and I think his beliefs come through loud and clear about RussiaGate and UkraineGate and how he hates Trump

Yes....the remedy is vote them out of office..... or in Clinton case he was termed out.

GOP paid for that stupid impeachment...rightfully so

The founders disagreed.....which is why we have impeachment

I stand corrected, I read the article. I will have to disagree with Taibbi on this one. While there are definitely people in the intel community with hidden agendas and ulterior motives, they are not worse than Trump. Taibbi is an iconoclast who despises the mainstream media, but that's one reason I love him.

What I don't understand is why you take pride in a President who is dangerous and insane, and you quote articles from a writer who says Trump is dangerous and insane.

Next time don't vote in a vile crook.

Easy Peasy.

glad you read his whole article.

listen to Taibbi's podcasts....you'll understand better.

That's how impeachment hearings have to go with Trump because if he finds out the whistelblowers identity, he'll have him murdered just as he and Barr had Epstein murdered. Congress isn't closely guarding this witness for no reason.

Good grief ... ... you took a wrong turn on your way to the conspiracy board.

Was the Clinton impeachment a coup?

No; because the fact finding mission, like some poster called it here, was voted on and approved by the whole House before the investigation began. In other words, both sides of the House plus the executive branch had the same powers and rights during the investigation.

"... To make his point, Levin referred to a House Judiciary Committee resolution from former President Bill Clinton’s impeachment in October 1998, in which top committee Democrats were given those powers and the inquiry was authorized by a vote of the whole House before it began.
...
The 1998 document also explains that the committee found it necessary to have its investigation authorized by a House vote because “the issue of impeachment is of such overwhelming importance, the Committee decided that it must receive authorization from the full House before proceeding on any further course of action,” as well as the fact that the same historical precedent was set by the House’s impeachment efforts against Presidents Andrew Johnson and Richard Nixon. ..."

Assuming that the word "coup" is being used to indicate illegal or questionable behavior, what actions that Democrats have taken qualify?

"... In addition to failing to hold a full House vote on the matter, Levin explained, minority party members of investigating committees have not been given the same investigative powers as they were during previous impeachment efforts. These same process concerns were also laid out in a letter from the White House last week, explaining why the “Executive Branch cannot be expected to participate.” ..."

He can argue that but he'd be wrong.

The House hasn't failed to hold a vote...it just hasn't yet...and it will once enough evidence is gathered for members to consider prior to said vote.

The House hasn't voted on the authorization of the investigation ...

Right now the investigation is being carried out by dems only ... without prior voting in the House on authorization for this investigation.

BULLCRAP "COUP". That's not the case. We're in a FACT finding cycle, that's the real story. Maybe we'll finally find out some of the facts since Trump has stonewalled and obstructed any investigations for nearly a year.

Your team has been on a perpetual fact finding mission since election day. They are holding closed door testimonies from the American people, geared toward an impeachment of the POTUS. Time to stop sugar coating crap and call it what it is, a political coup.

he Constitution doesn't say that and that is what counts.

The Constitution gives Congress the authority to investigate anything or anyone it wants to.

Congress ... correct. And congress laid out the rules for impeachment investigations ... and dems are now ignoring them.

Or where does it say in the Constitution that only one party is allowed to investigate?
